I'm all out of inspiration here. The grind is getting us all down, interspersed with terrorist attacks, but we shall overcome. In the meantime, there's gin and camaraderie.

That would be 3am, ET.

lionheart · 30/06/2017 16:58

Interesting on both counts.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 30/06/2017 16:59

I saw that and thought it odd cozie. Didn't see the GCHQ thing though- how intriguing!

ayylmaooo · 30/06/2017 17:11

ARumWithAView, you can't tell the difference between one person on twitter and entire news outlets pushing fake news for their own agendas?

Did you miss the constant attacks on his hair, hands and deteriorating mental state (according to people who dislike him)? You can't attack someone and then claim to be a victim when they retaliate, POTUS or not. He was not elected to be presidential, he was elected BECAUSE of the outrageous things he says and does. He will continue to win until people realise this.

cozietoesie · 30/06/2017 17:20

Thanks for that, lion. Smile

SanFranBear · 30/06/2017 17:32

How do you measure 'continuing to win', ayylmaooo?

cozietoesie · 30/06/2017 17:39

That's yet another 'Eric' in the frame. I'm almost becoming confused. Smile

ayylmaooo · 30/06/2017 17:39

Lweji,

Are you happy with the constant 180o turns?

If they make sense, yes. I have no problem with people changing their mind when presented with new information.

Is that same healthcare bill great or mean?

I don't know what this means.

Are you happy that only swamp people, Wall Street people and Goldman Sachs people have been chosen for the Administration?

This obviously isn't true. Why are you wasting my time?

Are you happy that Trump is making money out of the Presidency?

He isn't. He would be impeached if there was any evidence of this, just like if there was any evidence of collusion with Russia.

Are you happy that he's golfing more than presidenting?

He isn't. Why are you wasting my time?

Are you happy that he's made the US a laughing stock around the world? (He is, you know?)

He hasn't. This is what happens when you have CNN, the WSJ and NYT bookmarked.

Are you happy that he's removing the US from the forefront of innovation and commerce?

He isn't. He is trying to do the exact opposite. Sighhhh.

Are you happy that his law changes benefit his businesses? As well as big money interests?

Lower business tax = more business = more jobs = more tax revenue. This is not a new concept.

Are you happy that he wants to allow major corporations to pollute your air and water?

No, if this is true.

Are you happy that he wants to allow the conditions for the next financial crisis, again?

The economy is extremely complex. Neither of us are educated enough to have a proper grasp on it.

You seem to have a very simplistic view on everything.

ayylmaooo · 30/06/2017 17:42

Did someone seriously call that list of questions 'comprehensive' aswell?

ElenaGreco123 · 30/06/2017 17:50

Interesting on both counts.
I don't like interesting, I want boring [mutters to herself].

On a more positive note, now that we know about the love between them, next time could we have an Elizabeth Warren / Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson dream ticket, please?

cozietoesie · 30/06/2017 17:51

Boring can be excellent right enough.......for a short while. Wink

ayylmaooo · 30/06/2017 18:15

SanFranBear,

*'Trump is running for president? LMAO

Ok, but he has no chance in the primaries.

Well, his voters are just dumb rednecks. He is only popular because he puts on a show. This will end soon.

Hmm. He definitely has no shot at Hillary Clinton, it's Hillary Clinton! #ImWithHer

Nazis! Trump supporters are Nazis!!1!!!11! I can't believe he has this much support!

He said grab her by the pussy! Drumpf is FINISHED!

Finally election night. I can't wait for this to be over. The NYT tells me he has a 1% chance of winning. Phew.

DEHFDUJRBFJROFRNELCERIDOP%JFGI%TBJVTVPKTN!!!!!

Recount! That will get him! Hillary won the popular vote!

Protests!

Riots!

He colluded with Russia! Russia, Russia, Russia!

Maddow has his taxes, we got him! Finally!

Comey is testifying, this will expose him!

Sessions is testifying, can't wait for him to trip up!'*

  • Everyone

There is more, but I'm bored now. The problem is, people have convinced themselves that he is a stupid person or that they are more intelligent than him. It is not a coincidence that he comes out on top every single time.

And for those who didn't manage to pick up the link last night.

Cracking up over the idea that the Wall Street Journal is part of the lefty-liberal bubble conspiracy.

Anyway, has anyone else spotted this one? (Apologies if it's been mentioned upthread, I may have missed it). It turns out that prior to the "Mika was bleeding" tweet, Trump staffers had spent several months trying to blackmail them:

ayylmaooo · 30/06/2017 18:46

I meant The Washington Post, tbf.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 30/06/2017 18:48

"hasn't. This is what happens when you have CNN, the WSJ and NYT bookmarked."

Then I suggest you proof-read properly.

FWIW, I make a point of reading the Telegraph for balance - they think Trump is a complete idiot and a liability and is in danger of screwing the American economy too.

cozietoesie · 30/06/2017 18:56

I don't think it was mentioned, M0stly. Thanks for the link.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 30/06/2017 19:00

I think it's fair to say that the one message that's been constant on these threads is not to expect dramatic things to happen overnight re: comey testifying, tweets, tax returns etc but that the best that can be done is wait for the midterms in 2018.

Orlantina · 30/06/2017 19:21

The US elected a President who misleads, lies, gets easily wound up, has bad judgement with his staff choices, sacks people with integrity, seems not to understand diplomacy and how to get people to work together, antagnosises the rest of the world with whom he needs to do deals with and makes him a laughing stock around the world. Oh and he's sexist, mysoginistic and Muslim hating.

Good luck to them.

ARumWithAView · 30/06/2017 19:37

Good luck to them.

Good luck to all of us. Climate change, a far right surge, the growing perception that it's not a career-ender to be openly sexist, racist or utterly uninformed about most of your job, fewer regulations on the financial industry, a thin-skinned volatile leader who can't even handle press criticism without making a fool of himself... this is a global shit-storm.

As for the 'people voted for him because he's outrageous' line: I think this accounts for a relatively small proportion of support. Many Republicans voted for Trump, even campaigned for him, under the utterly misguided assumption/hope that the worst of his behaviour was just attention-seeking showmanship, and that he'd act more presidential in office. No one could be THIS twattish, crude, embarrassing and uninformed as president. These people are now mortified or deep in denial.

BiglyBadgers · 30/06/2017 19:55

It never ceases to impress me how people can have access to the exact same information yet seem to be living in a completely different world. I will never be able to accept that the way Trump behaves is in anyway the behaviour of a capable and reasonable human being, some will never accept he is anything other than a winner. It is like living on opposite sides of the mirror and nothing I say will ever truly cross that divide.

Lweji · 30/06/2017 20:12

Just one:

Are you happy that he wants to allow the conditions for the next financial crisis, again?

The economy is extremely complex. Neither of us are educated enough to have a proper grasp on it.

But are you happy that he's deregulating financial institutions, thus allowing the conditions that led to the last financial crisis? It doesn't take a genius or great education in economics. If you are allowed to pretend that unsafe loans are safe, the shit WILL hit the fan.

Are you OK with financial institutions being allowed to sell garbage as AAAA loans?
