To think that the situation in London could end up with riots?

The social situation in London following this week's terrible fire is deteriorating fast. On top of the recent disastrous general election, a section of the population feel alienated. Am I being unreasonable to think we could end up with riots?

Surely Theresa May has to go now??

Plumbhead · 16/06/2017 17:26

"nd the opportunists who want to steal trainers."

No evidence of that.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/06/2017 17:28

I know plumb

fruitbats · 16/06/2017 17:29

It is my understanding that the police said today that everyone in hospitals have been identified. It is unfortunately likely that the missing have sadly perished in the fire. It will be a long time before proper identifications can be made, if at all. It is agonising for the families but there is no other way.

Scribblegirl · 16/06/2017 17:30

Agree with everything you are saying, BigChoc.

BeesOnTheWing · 16/06/2017 17:31

BigChoc I feel the same about everyone in unsafe buildings right now.

It needs to be addressed.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 17:34

But they can issue a list of missing assumed dead. Or a list of reported missing assumed dead. They could at least tell the relatives and friends who have reported

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 17:35

Christ this council are useless as May

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/06/2017 17:37

Im trying to think of a parallel - in say a plane crash, which way around is it done? Are people named when they are assumed to be on the plane (obviously it's easier to judge this than in a building, once you're in a plane you rarely get back off) or only when their body is found?

Plumbhead · 16/06/2017 17:37

"Christ this council are useless as May"

Yes.

Isn't there also the issue of Muslims burying their dead as quickly as possible? How is that going to be death with I wonder.

MsHooliesCardigan · 16/06/2017 17:38

Much as I detested Thatcher, she was a leader. May is pathetic- an autocrat who doesn't want to listen to anyone else and a total coward who runs to hide in the toilet at the first sign of trouble.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 17:40

I think wrt plane crash as you are effectively logged onto the flight I would guess it is easier to report quickly

But they need to break protocol on this. It's not appropriate. There are children involved

fruitbats · 16/06/2017 17:41

The relatives know that their family did not make it out of the building. They cannot be officially named until they have been recovered and properly identified.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 17:42

They may never be identified. That has to be taken into account.

ajandjjmum · 16/06/2017 17:42

These people should be given every help - they have suffered something that no-one should.

Those trying to turn this into a political thing are sick.

Money was spent - albeit unwisely. It's not about rich and poor, it's about people who are truly suffering. Can't believe some of the people on this thread.

fruitbats · 16/06/2017 17:42

I think it is the same with a plane crash. You know who was supposed to be on the flight, but they cannot be named until identified. Just classed as missing.

sodablackcurrant · 16/06/2017 17:43

I never thought May was leadership material at all.

However, she is PM now after a disastrous election for her. It was all about her.

I'd say she will be left there to cook her own goose. There is no way anyone else is fit to lead in the Tories anyway. I just cannot think of ONE person can you.

And none of those buffoons will take the reins right now either. Leadership my foot.

But stranger things have happened. I am just thinking out loud.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/06/2017 17:44

I just had an awful thought. If they aren't found, will they have to wait however long it is (5 years?) to be "missing" before they can legally be declared dead?!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 16/06/2017 17:45

Again, from Twitter: more reason why people in these circumstances will feel powerless, disconnected, at odds with the "system":

Just appalling.

wtffgs · 16/06/2017 17:46

However, there there is a greater tragedy that is going on for the past twenty years in London which sees young local families living in overcrowded conditions while third world immigrants sweep into the city and absorb hundreds of millions in taxpayer funding.

Jesus wept! Are you on glue? Do you not realise you are regurgitating tabloid lies?!

I hope there aren't riots because poor, working class people and migrants will suffer most during and in the aftermath.

I hope the husk of humanity in May and her abysmal cronies will resign and leave others, with more compassion to repair our broken country.

Plumbhead · 16/06/2017 17:47

"Again, from Twitter: more reason why people in these circumstances will feel powerless, disconnected, at odds with the "system":"

You know why? Poor people's bodies burnt in a fire, their safety was not seems as a priority. Their physical existence was wiped out and those directly responsible as well as our alleged leaders can't be bothered to turn up in person to face the situation. It's all about power and it is a disgrace because they are working for us paid for by our taxes including council tax.

nancy75 · 16/06/2017 17:49

In order to recover the bodies & identify those that have died people have to go through that building inch by inch. I know the families are desperate for news but unless we want more people to die in an unsafe building the search & recovery needs to be done in a safe way and done properly. It is terrible for the families but there really is no other way this can be done & that is not anyone's fault.

fruitbats · 16/06/2017 17:51

At last - May has been to speak to the families and victims. They have announced a fund of £5m to assist and the DWP is arranging to make payments. I think they have also sorted something out with the banks for those who have lost their bank cards. It may be late, but something is happening.

ChristopherWren · 16/06/2017 17:55

OP - do you live in London?

waitforitfdear · 16/06/2017 17:55

About bloody time and yes agree op think it's possible.

I voted for her but she needs to go now. Shocking enevgion campaign and shocking leadership since.
