To think that the situation in London could end up with riots?

The social situation in London following this week's terrible fire is deteriorating fast. On top of the recent disastrous general election, a section of the population feel alienated. Am I being unreasonable to think we could end up with riots?

I think the Tory's love of wealth and rich people is killing off the UK's welfare system, not immigration.

HoldBackTheRain · 16/06/2017 14:16

Fuck me user, you're the definition of racist ignorance.

MsUnderstanding · 16/06/2017 14:16

user1497617091 that part of London is popular with immigrants from all walks of life, Russian oligarchs, Syrian refugees, French Bankers. Your point is irrelevant.

TinselTwins · 16/06/2017 14:17

Why do some people think rioting is an acceptable a way to respond to a tragedy? I dont get it

Because rioting is active not passive and when you leave people with nothing and no power, they'll do all you've left them able to do

walkingtheplank · 16/06/2017 14:17

I think Labour are stoking the situation. Some of the local Labour councillors where I live seem to be desperate to get people on the streets. I thinks it's really irresponsible and has the potential to cause more deaths - which again would be used politically.

The Grenfell Tower situation is truly dreadful. The stuff of nightmares. Answers need to be provided ASAP and we need to wait to find out what those answers are before slinging blame around. Then the politicians should work together to tighten up the regulations. It beggars belief that flammable cladding even exists. Is there a good reason for it to exist?

And please may this be the end of idiots saying, "It's Health and Safety gone mad.' We live in a relatively safe country because of Health and Safety Regs.

HoldBackTheRain · 16/06/2017 14:17

Userlotsofnumbers that's what I should have written, had I not been so fucking pissed off. Thanks for expressing it more eloquently.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 16/06/2017 14:17

The fuck you was out of order, apologies.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 16/06/2017 14:17

What drives someone to watch coverage of hundreds of people burning to death and then start attacking them for their place of birth?

I genuinely do pity you. I don't know if you actually feel this way, or you're making it up for attention, but to write this stuff down - there's something wrong with you.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/06/2017 14:18

Fantastic idea, I'll go and riot and the gov can pay for me to relocate to Scotland!! Hmm

user1497617091 · 16/06/2017 14:19

@HoldMeCloserTonyDanza Please stop labelling people as ghouls just because you don't agree with them. Many of those who news stories report as having lived in Grenfell Tower were white immigrants - Italian, Syrian, etc. However, I've in all the newspaper reports referring to an adult living in Grenfell Tower, I've seen 34 residents referred to as having immigrated from outside the U.K. and 2 residents referred to where this is not mentioned.

makeourfuture · 16/06/2017 14:19

"aspiring musicians"

Aspiring musicians should be stripped of their citizenship?

thetemptationofchocolate · 16/06/2017 14:19

The first named casualty is a man who fled here from Syria, to find safety. To end his story like this, having escaped a war, is so very very sad.

JamieXeed74 · 16/06/2017 14:19

Do we still have the water cannons?

ohhereweareagain · 16/06/2017 14:20

I'm at portobello mkt now and have been working here all day. The atmosphere has been one of kindness as well as obvious anger. Oddly there has been a good blitz united like vibe as I too had thought about the possibility if riots. I'd understand tbh

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 16/06/2017 14:21

Because rioting is active not passive and when you leave people with nothing and no power, they'll do all you've left them able to do

YES. And people can see this crystal clear if they are talking about Los Angeles or Cairo or an 18th century paysan, but turn the lens closer to home and suddenly property damage is a bewildering act of terror.

makeourfuture · 16/06/2017 14:22

Calm for now here. But some suspicious buskers about....

Fifth column flautists.

When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/06/2017 14:22

Underclass? Oh fuck off.

PyongyangKipperbang · 16/06/2017 14:22

I really can see a riot happening.

The disenfranchised have often taken to the streets to protest, this is historical fact. Unfortunately that number will include arseholes who think that the best way to get their point across is to chuck bricks and from there it spirals......

quickly organise some proper practical support and housing

It's easy to write; much less easy to deliver housing in a city as large and densely built as London. Happy to be corrected if anyone knows something I don't but I used to live and work within a mile radius.

Oswin · 16/06/2017 14:24

Wtf you on about damage by aspiring musicians? What does that mean?

Send them back if they riot? Yeah no white British riot do they. Ffs.

MsHooliesCardigan · 16/06/2017 14:24

Fucking hell, there's always one. There was someone on that Twitter link saying that this is what happens when you have an open immigration policy. When asked to explain the link between immigration and the fire, he said that lots of people in the block were poorly educated and couldn't speak English well.
I wouldn't put it past that cunt Farage to try to make a political point about immigrants taking all our houses.
