Absolutely explodingkittens

Suggests that they have no actual arguments...

Just attack

explodingkittens · 15/06/2017 22:58

What exactly is 'insensitive' about giving information about a march?

Damn right people aren't lolling. Damn fucking right they're not. Please point out where I have suggested otherwise.

Jesus, the whataboutery on here today is mindblowing

Shamoo - I always thought the concept of protesting was to highlight an issue and to hope to bring about change, the change that you want is to overturn a democratic decision.

"'we're supporting all actions and events against Theresa May's attempt at forming a Government"

CardinalSin · 15/06/2017 23:01

There are plenty of things worth protesting about.

This ain't one of them...

BillSykesDog · 15/06/2017 23:01

whats the protest about?

It will probably be a very ineffective umbrella march for discontent. They normally are.

SeaLionsOnMyShirt · 15/06/2017 23:02

Oh FFS. Go protest somewhere else you muppet, give our police & the rest of our amazing emergency services in London a break please. We have enough to deal with at the moment. Obviously not a proper Londoner, are you OP? And, as you asked - yes, you can donate and protest, but surely even you must realise that a protest will involve policing and other cover, which, at the moment, is urgently needed elsewhere.

Blueemeraldagain · 15/06/2017 23:03

biscuitmillionaire Personally, no I expect nothing less from that terrible woman but I think there are supporters of her out there who are shocked and dismayed by her new bedfellows. They deserve a chance to state that opinion. I hope and imagine many Labour supporters (myself included) would join them in expressing that opinion.
Labour lost. I get it. But the DUP? Come on now.

Thinking of my opinions alone perhaps teaming up with the DUP will be a blessing. It'll finish May's stint as party leader and possibly/probably lead to another general election and we (labour) get another roll of the dice.

And no, I don't think Labour would have allied with the DUP. They'd have had more options (because the other parties don't all hate them).

originalbiglymavis · 15/06/2017 23:03

Who is organising it?

edwinbear · 15/06/2017 23:04

Oh you know that bit where you said oh lol edwin or do you not know what that means? Anyway, no I don't give 2 shiny shits about your march.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 15/06/2017 23:05

edwin

explodingkittens wasn't laughing at recent events

BillSykesDog · 15/06/2017 23:06

How dare you march it's undemocratic

It's their right to march, which is exactly why they're going to do it. But it's also other people's right to question their motivation and how effective it will be.

As Teresa May found out at the election you catch more flies with honey than with shit. If you want to convince some of the electorate who didn't vote the way you want that they should change their mind, having a 'Your all bastards and you're wrong about everything and you should have no right to a say' march probably isn't going to win many friends.

Peregrina · 15/06/2017 23:07

I thought the protest was against Theresa May getting into bed with the DUP, especially after all the criticism Corbyn received for talking to the IRA years ago, and about austerity - which looks as though it has directly led to major loss of life in the most appalling fashion.

Ideally I would like our Government to have compassion and regard for the whole population instead of being self-serving, money grubbing and only interested in the wealthy, and if we have to protest to make them realise, I am all for it. No one yet has stopped May from forming a Government, apart from herself, so I fail to see why this is anti-democracy.

BillSykesDog · 15/06/2017 23:07

'You're all bastards' - how embarrassing to get sweary grammar wrong. I'm normally great at swearing.

explodingkittens · 15/06/2017 23:08

That's fine edwin. Probably a bit of a waste of your time commenting on a thread about it then, though?

*Bill what's surprise you are here telling us all what we should and should protest about

Thanks for your help...its noted

MayhemAndRudderless · 15/06/2017 23:10

Fucking outrageous how people can still support May, after all this governments failings.

Propped up by the Sun, DM and Express AND the fucking DUP, to win the general election and form a minority government.

Either people are just plain stupid and don't understand politics or their bias knows no bounds.

'Austerity is over' - May.
Oh, so there is a fucking magic money tree after all.

Peregrina · 15/06/2017 23:10

As Teresa May found out at the election you catch more flies with honey than with shit.

Not sure. I thought flies liked shit. You certainly catch more wasps with honey than vinegar. Theresa May served up large bowls of vinegar and not much honey.

Lovestonap · 15/06/2017 23:11

I support democracy, which includes the right to peaceful protest. Good luck and good weather to those exercising their rights.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:11

Wow if we could bottle all your anti marching passion my anti democratic friends we will have a fantastic match

Will think about each and every one if you when I'm shouting...

explodingkittens · 15/06/2017 23:12

Thank you lovestonap, that's very sweet of you Smile

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:13

And a fabulous MARCH my little anti democratic friends

Peregrina · 15/06/2017 23:13

'Austerity is over' - May.
Oh, so there is a fucking magic money tree after all.

No to both. The first was a soundbite - watch how she behaves to see whether austerity is over.
The second - the magic money tree is thriving in a walled garden only accessible to the wealthy - who already have a forest of trees.

MayhemAndRudderless · 15/06/2017 23:13

Democracy = freedom to protest

Are we forgetting the pointless protests against the Vietnam war? The protests against the illegal Iraqi War?

Some people are so filled with hate, it fucking terrifies me.

Shamoo · 15/06/2017 23:13

time4chocolate - You have no idea what change I want, I haven't even opened the link and know nothing about the protest really, and I won't be attending.

Article 11 of the ECHR which protects the right to freedom of peaceful assembly (and therefore protest) gives everyone such right other than where prevented because it is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others. Ergo, the right to protest is a right to protest whatever one wishes to protest subject to the above exceptions. See the protests against the Iraq War - a protest against decisions of a democratically elected governments, which most people now accept was probably right given the facts. If you don't agree with the thing that is being protested, that's totally fair enough. But to suggest that a protest is anti-democratic is inherently wrong.
