Be arsed to get up of your sofas! But you won't . Do that's ok

Peregrina · 15/06/2017 23:48

I am tired of being told that Theresa May won; why hasn't she formed a Government? Minority Governments aren't new although they are not regarded as desirable in this country.

But it's a little like the Advisory referendum - legally it was, politically it wasn't. So Theresa May, or should I say the Conservatives, have won, but in terms of public perception she has lost badly, because there was talk of a 3 figure majority which vanished.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:48

Oh anti......how harsh

BillSykesDog · 15/06/2017 23:53

and the appalling derelictions of duty regarding basic respect for ordinary people's safety that are now coming to light.

It happened yesterday. Really, nobody knows who is to blame yet and everything is still up in the air. I find this immediate hijacking to make a political point before the fire's even fucking out a bit distasteful.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:53

So me and my mum will be marching.....

Thanks for your inane illogical expressions of anti democratic pro Tory views

Feel free to march when the Labour government gets in
Promise not to be as rude to you as you have been on this thread...well I will try

#Cutscostlives

UrsulaPandress · 15/06/2017 23:54

Do you know how to bold or can't you be arsed?

It helps when posters are referencing you or otherwise your words of wisdom might go unheeded ever

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:56

Thanks Ursula...yep CBA

CrossWordSalad · 15/06/2017 23:57

everthick I must say you are doing a sterling job for your cause on this thread. The politics of disdain, delusions of superiority and hatred. Blimey, why didn't I vote for that?

UrsulaPandress · 15/06/2017 23:57

😂

Peregrina · 15/06/2017 23:58

Really, nobody knows who is to blame yet and everything is still up in the air.

That's a bit of a cop out. No one knows yet what started the fire but:

  • the residents association had said that it was a disaster waiting to happen and would it take a tragedy before someone listened?
  • similarly clad buildings have also gone up in flames, so there is some evidence that this could be contributory.
everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:58

Ouch....shame I don't care and will be marching

Not like democracy whatever your name is

HookandSwan · 15/06/2017 23:58

Protest cost this county millions in policing.

What are you devastated about?

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 15/06/2017 23:59

It's such a shame you think marching is such a threat to you. Every time you all come out of the shadows...its just ...so...sad

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 00:00

And more of the shadows come out.....you are right CBA

But will be marching..........come join us you might like it...

PoohBearsHole · 16/06/2017 00:04

It's not a threat Confused you haven't asked pp what their politics are. It just won't enthuse people when it seems like a protest for too many things at once not a specific target like a decision to go to war, civil partnerships/marriage, fox hunting, policing cuts, NHS cuts. It's too muddled in its definition.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 00:11

It's anti austerity

I don't need to persuade anyone. If you're not interested fine. It's not an argument about whether it should happen

It's happening
I get it you don't want to come
It will happen anyway

Thank you for your contribution. It's been emotional (tho not for me)

GraceGrape · 16/06/2017 00:17

Protest cost this county millions in policing

I'm sure the police would be in full support of a protest against the government which has caused such swingeing cuts to their profession. The recent thread on here about what policing is like now was a real eye-opener and there was definitely no love lost for the Tory government.

Spectre8 · 16/06/2017 00:19

Thanks for reminding me to stay out of London, switch off from the news and go do something lovely with my time!

As for Grenfell, all parties have blood on their hands as concerns were raised over both the previous Labour, Coalition and Tory governments. Its all well to blame it on cuts saying this contributed to it but what the heck did Labour do? They were spending like crazy pre-recession so how did money not go to resolve the issue especialyl as public sector was receiving huge sums. So if the issues weren't dealt with in a spending boom and not dealt with during austerity then you cannot just blame it on austerity.

HookandSwan · 16/06/2017 00:21

I watched a documentary on BBC about the met. And one ep was focusing on riots and policing them and so no I don't right they would welcome it.

Spectre8 · 16/06/2017 00:25

This is from the site

*The Election result represents a rejection of Tory policies. They know they have no mandate; already the Government has suggested they may have to ease their austerity plans because of huge opposition. We need to make sure the full force of that opposition is felt. If we continue to mobilise in huge numbers we can deepen the crisis for the Conservatives and force big concessions on the NHS, education, housing and jobs. There is already talk of another General Election in the next few months which would likely see the Tories loose further support and be unable to form a Government.

Protests have sprung up across the country and there are many more planned in the next few days, we're supporting all actions and events against Theresa May's attempt at forming a Government.*

So in the first paragraph the demonstration is about showing strong opposition to cuts and ensuring there is no more austerity - ok fine that means TM stays in as long as there are no more cuts.

Yet in the second paragraph it then states they are against the Tories forming a government - bit of contradiction then and this is ....The Election result represents a rejection of Tory policies. is also untrue because the election result still showed the majority of the country voting for her (she just didn't get an outright mandate). A rejection would have been her completely losing and JC winning.

Biker47 · 16/06/2017 00:32

Feel free to march when the Labour government gets in

No thanks, I've have a job to go to.

I also don't think protesting the result of a free democratic election as a valuable use of my times.

Also, Labour getting in..... hahahaha.

scaryteacher · 16/06/2017 00:33

I felt sick and tired and angry and devastated from 1997-2010; funny that. So much so that I left the country when I was offered the chance to do so.. I was planning on returning in 2019, but if Corbyn gets in, there is no bloody point in coming back. It's like a regression to the Labour party of late 70s/early 80s all over again; shades of Michael foot and that prat Kinnock.

Been there, done that, didn't see the point of it the first time, and still don't now. If Corbyn et al haven't learned from Healy and his taxing the rich til the pips squeak, that the rich bugger off elsewhere, and again from the way the French left in droves once they were taxed too highly, then they are never going to learn.

There was an election. The Tories got most seats; protesting won't change that at all. I hope that May proves she is a bloody difficult woman by hanging on in there til after the Brexit negotiations are done.

GraceGrape · 16/06/2017 00:38

I watched a documentary on BBC about the met. And one ep was focusing on riots and policing them and so no I don't right they would welcome it.

Protests are not riots. Most protest marches in the UK are completely peaceful. The only ones that ever seem to verge on violence are those involving the EDL.

Spectre8 · 16/06/2017 00:51

Well JC putting forth what it will be like saying that empty houses in kensington should be requistioned by the Government to temporarily house people - wtaf. Sorry but people own those houses and they are free to do with what they want, live in it full time, part-time, no time, rent it out. It is their choice as the owner. No Government should ever be taking back houses forcibly even if its temporary - this is akin to Mugabe. We do not and should never live in a dictatorship.

Spectre8 · 16/06/2017 00:52
