For those of us who are sick and tired and angry and devastated.

Well said Ollie & Cross.

It's getting a little wearing now hearing that 'the DUP got £1billion' & 'Theresa & the Tories are murderers'.

The DUP aren't getting £1billion, NI is getting it.
Where was the outcry when Gordon Brown paid the DUP for one vote in 2008?
Where was the outcry every time Scotland & Wales were paid outwith Barnett Formula for regeneration projects?

Cuts didn't cause Grenfell.
Where were the Labour councillors, councils & MPs when dangerous cladding was being fitted to buildings in their constituencies?
Where were they when non-firesafe doors were fitted in tower blocks?
Where were they when building regs were being altered? When fire inspection regs were being altered?

Political? Yes.
Party political? No.

Its ok for some people to protest but not for others ?

For example people rail against people who wish to protest about islam, immigration, homosexuality and a plethora of simila issues but its ok to protest about Trump (who has now dumped us for france),protest against a Tory government that won the election and to vilify a PM as if she had struck the match at Grenfell? There is a huge tract of the populace that are so feeble minded as to be lead by strong characters and the gutter media. All sheep need a good shepherd.

makeourfuture · 29/06/2017 08:43

islam, immigration, homosexuality and a plethora of simila issues

Try as I can, I can't figure out what the similarity is here....

For those who are marching today in peace and solidarity for peace and equality. I will see you there and will be linking my arms and heart with you

For the bilious behind their keyboards I wish you peace and Alka Seltza. Both should help

oldtrees · 01/07/2017 10:31

Well said everthinkyouvebeenconned.

Tanith · 01/07/2017 19:29

Your link describes the crowd as "communist flag-waving cranks" crosswordsalad

Even nicer Hmm

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 01/07/2017 19:32

John McDonnell was there, and he's a communist flag-waving crank, so not really an untrue description per se.

CrossWordSalad · 01/07/2017 19:55

Apologies, I didn't spot that. It was the placard I was linking for. I don't think calling people communist cranks is quite on a par with a representation of TM's head on a spike though.

ihatetosay · 01/07/2017 20:11

waste of public money when it could be spent on better things

explodingkittens · 01/07/2017 20:20

Dp, ds and I had a lovely day. The march was friendly, full of music and dancing, loads of people, loads of families, loads of kids on parents' shoulders etc. All very, very peaceful, fun and invigorating. As we knew it would be.

I can probably live with never hearing Seven Nation Army ever again though Grin

Guido's attempt at whipping up outrage on his blog is laughable, as always. I'm about as far away from a 'communist' as it's possible to be. But he never lets facts get in the way of a good froth, does he?

Hope everyone who went had a good time!

It was a really good atmosphere. People of all ages and from different walks of life. Of course some of you would like to paint us as being all the same, I find that interesting, it's easier to dismiss us if you think that way.

everthinkyouvebeenconned · 01/07/2017 21:00

Lovely day for me and my mum. Oh we didn't overthrow the government in an anarchist Marxist revolution never mind found time for an Italian after (best make the most of it before they go back huh)

I will bulk buy Alka Seltzer for all of you bilious people. You obviously need it. Bless Shock

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 01/07/2017 21:07

What exactly was the point of this march, can anyone tell me? Was it a specific policy bring protested or just the usual whiners complaining that the rest of the electorate is not mad enough to agree with them?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 01/07/2017 21:12

The point was to have a lovely day out, with music & laughter etc.

Security provided & paid for via the public purse, natch, and for good measure those police officers who were being 'marched in solidarity with' got their leave cancelled (again).

Glad to hear everyone had a lovely day though.

Stopnamechanging · 01/07/2017 21:16

They are on their knees after the past few months, unbelievably selfish to add another protest.

woman12345 · 01/07/2017 21:27

Thanks for going to all the demonstrators. Smile

BabsGanoush · 01/07/2017 21:30

The march was friendly, full of music and dancing, loads of people, loads of families, loads of kids on parents' shoulders etc.

So it was a festival at pubic expense?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/07/2017 21:44

Babs there was also lots of chanting, placard waving and lots of speeches. What there was not was any violence or destruction of property.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/07/2017 21:45

It was an anti austerity march.

applecatchers36 · 01/07/2017 21:54

As far as I am aware people are entitled to peaceful protest and often as in the anti -Iraq war demo have been proven to be on the right-side of history?
People are sick and disgusted by austerity (Grenville tower?) and this in a week where the Tories blocked an end to public sector pay freezes ( yes nurses)..while bunging DUP to stay in power from the 'magic money tree ' not a surprise that people are angry and want to express that although if you have not one iota of compassion in your DNA ( am looking at you at Kensington & Chelsea Tory Councillors an utter disgrace) and vote Tory probably very unreasonable Hmm

Stopnamechanging · 01/07/2017 22:00

I didn't vote Tory and I still think it was unreasonable. No thought given to the policing of it which had to be done regardless of 'rights' and 'peacefulness'.

I am from a police family, as I said previously, the emergency services are on their knees and exhausted.

CreamCol0uredP0nies · 01/07/2017 22:08

There are lots of ways to be 'anti austerity' without marching on central London.
I agree with previous posters - the police have better things to do.
If you want a nice day out with your kids, take them to the park.
Went on lots of marches as a student but grew out if them by 21 and now find more useful ways to contribute to society.

applecatchers36 · 01/07/2017 22:08

Yep I work in a central l London hospital / emergency service and as a service devastated by cuts ( as Fire, Education, Housing, Social Care) would honour the right to protest regarding the unsafe cuts we are debilitated by....

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 01/07/2017 22:15

I am all for public protest but no nearer to understand what the point of this was I'm afraid. What does "anti austerity " mean? spend more on public services whether that achieves public benefit or not? Or are there defined goals in view?
