People's Assembly

For those of us who are sick and tired and angry and devastated.

explodingkittens Oh, I'm so sorry. National debt is a lie. Of course it is. Biscuit

If your response to facts is to call them a lie, I'm not sure there's any point in posting any further. I get that you're angry about austerity, I do. But all your protest is going to do is cause a strain on public services (as a self-confessed Londoner, you will know how hard our police force are working at the moment - they don't need this kind of crap to babysit).

All the best.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 09:56

I didn't say I felt bullied

But I guess it's hard to gather nuance for some

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 09:57

seesaw your own responses have hardly been shining bastions of maturity.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 09:57

And they wonder why people are angry. Thankfully I am assured that not one of you will get your arse to counter protest. Buzz buzz

pipsqueak25 · 16/06/2017 09:57

we are fortunate enough to live in a country where we can hold protest marches but don't expect too much in the way of results with over turning anything, ALL governments look at matches as the natives being a bit restless, let them get it out of their systems and go home after wards thinking they made a point, then we can get on with the usual stuff in parliament.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 09:58

pringle hope you're not doing anything that the police are needed for then.

That means no festivals, no unnecessary driving, no going to the airport, no going into town.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 09:59

pipsqueak look at Korea for a very recent example of how that is not true at all.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 09:59

Ha the usual stuff in Parliament...there isn't one at the moment....and won't be a government for long

This is where the express and mail readers are hanging out isn't it

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 10:01

I don't have to Cross Just as I don't have to tell you my shoe size the colour of my hair who I voted for my sexual preferences. I don't have to tell you anything. Or I could just make it up

That is absolutely true. But the fact that you don't want to answer is very revealing, in my view, about the type of politics you probably embrace.

Peregrina · 16/06/2017 10:01

They genuinely believe that austerity is the way to prosperity.

Only for others. For themselves no amount of money can be too much.

Isawesausittingonaseesaw · 16/06/2017 10:01

Big - when everthick posts something worth responding to seriously, it will be worth a serious response. My breath is not being held.

Some of your examples are a bit odd. Let's not go into town - it's not like shops and restaurants need business or like people spend money there that the economy needs!

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 10:03

I saw but you have responded and it was delightful. Thank you

Anyway back to the march. Cos there are going to be some. And this thread is about style don't them

You coming along now isaw

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 10:03

Not style silly old auto correct...attending them

Isawesausittingonaseesaw · 16/06/2017 10:04

Nope, I'm off to a nice spa day thanks to the OP posting the date.

I will be sure to look out for the teenage boy dressed up as a middle aged woman on the news though!

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 10:05

It's not today I saw. This one is on the 1st July so plenty of time to get your beauty treatments in!

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 16/06/2017 10:05

Wow shallow

Fab39ish · 16/06/2017 10:06

I am so pissed off about tax payers money being wasted on a General Election which was a vanity project and it backfired badly. The majority for the Conservatives that even Labour supporters predicted did not materialize. Leaving the Country in a weaker position with the possibility of a coalition of chaos with the DUP..
I am pissed off that a Private organization contracted by a Conservative council decided to opt for non fire retardant cladding because it was £2.00 per panel cheaper. I got this from another thread.
I am not the type of person who would March but if people feel strongly enough than I am happy for them to use their democratic right to do so.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 10:06

Fab Thanks

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 10:07

isaw ah, so it's a case of 'she started it'.

Mature.

Itinerary · 16/06/2017 10:08

It's fascinating how many middle/higher income champagne socialists think it's fine to patronise "the poor" and tell them they know what's good for them.

It's worrying to say the least when this translates into re-running votes until the "correct" answer is given.

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 10:09

cross explain what you are trying to get across for those of us too dim to understand

I don't know why you are implying I have called anyone dim. People on here often twist other people's posts as a (pointless) debating technique.

I make point a. Someone posts back with "how outrageous to say b and c". It's futile. It's not being dim, it is extrapolating from what people say to something they didn't say, and then using the thing they didn't say to have a go at them.

I'll have one more try. Some people want a demonstration. This is fine and legitimate and legal. Some other people want a riot. This is not fine, not legitimate and not legal. People get hurt and killed in riots.

I am drawing no further conclusions, I am just pointing out that some people will want the march to turn into a riot. It is best if the peaceful people are aware of this, as, in my view, knowledge is a useful thing.

BigYellowJumper · 16/06/2017 10:12

Ok.

I think everyone is aware that some people will want to riot. Thanks for sharing, but I think that fact is so obvious that people thought you were trying to get at something bigger.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 10:13

Champagne socialists. Not heard that for a while.

Am I that too on top of being a young male momentum member. Wow I am doing well!

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 10:16

To clarify, a slightly bigger point than that: some people will want a riot for their political purposes.

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 10:18

So are you a Momentum member ever?
