Because of his terrorist links. That's pretty strong stuff! In today's telegraph. Behind a paywall though but the first few paragraphs are visible.

Hmm

JC hasn't exactly come out as supporting ISIS has he? And the IRA aren't a problem now. Hamas - well that's about recognising that Palestinians have a right to a state is it not?

I'm not massively impressed with JC but I note the very personal attacks made on him. And note that he has not done the sameness back. At least he has dignity.

Believeitornot · 08/06/2017 10:46

In fact, what are the Tories so scared of that they need to attack JC in such a way.

Theresa May is going to get a stinking majority. Why the panic? The Tories are fabulous so why wouldn't people vote for them?

FannyWisdom · 08/06/2017 10:47

He's castigated for being a pacifist so maybe they mean dangerous in other ways?

Dangerous National elbow patch shortage?
Woman's Institute decimated by guerrilla jam parties?
A run on tweed manufacturing?

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 10:47

The Tories are fabulous?

How?

Believeitornot · 08/06/2017 10:48

I was being sarcastic @Leaderwithsoul

AgathaP · 08/06/2017 10:48

Tedious - smearing Labour MPs is a smokescreen. Tell us about Tory policies ffs

JiminnyCricket · 08/06/2017 10:48

In this house we call him schrodingers terrorist..

He's perpetually in a state of both being a pacifist and supporting terrorist atrocities at the same time Grin

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 10:49

Thank god for that Flowers hard to tell on here today

MrsPnut · 08/06/2017 10:50

The Telegraph, owned by the offshore based billionaire Barclay brothers who also funnel all the profits from their companies offshore to avoid paying tax in the U.K.
What on earth would they have to gain from smearing Jeremy Corbyn?

Sittinonthefloor · 08/06/2017 10:51

Are you talking about Maria Gatling, who is a councilor not an mp, who left and turned her back on the ira in about 1972? And was given special branch protection while in hiding.

Sorry I should have added a Wink

WalkingOnLeg0 · 08/06/2017 10:54

The right wing press are really working to keep Corbyn in his post. When he loses the election they will be his excuse cover story for losing and reason why he has to stay as leader. Otherwise it would have been possible for the Labour party to get rid of him once and for all.

PushingThru · 08/06/2017 10:54

hahaha, the torygraph is a danger to the nation and wouldn't pass a polygraph.

user1487175389 · 08/06/2017 10:55

If there was any actual dirt on Corbyn the press would have hit him with it years ago. Blatant and desperate scaremongering.

RhythmStix · 08/06/2017 10:55

Don't forget that Margaret T sat down to tea and scones with Augusto Pinochet. John Major was in secret talks with Gerry Adams and T Blair sat in a desert tent with Muammar Khadafi. All political leaders, all consorting openly with terrorists.

The gutter filth some of the papers has been spewing out is sickening. I pity the poor morons who believe that shite. I pity the country when we get - as we probably will - another 5 years of austerity.

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 10:56

The right wing press are really working to keep Corbyn in his post

Ah that just be it. Not

bigmack · 08/06/2017 10:56

If that were true the Tories would have written it across billboards and buses throughout the UK.

Sittinonthefloor · 08/06/2017 10:56

What lots of corbynistas fail to understand is that many people are deeply concerned about his views (words &factions of his that are on record, not made up) - that's not smearing him, it's fundamentally disagreeing with his ideology.

OP posts:
ExplodedCloud · 08/06/2017 10:58

What are the criteria for clearing vetting at MI6?
Does anybody actually know?

Sittinonthefloor · 08/06/2017 10:58

Actions not factions.

OP posts:
Efferlunt · 08/06/2017 10:59

I certainly don't agree with his views, but it laughable to suggest he is some kind of security threat. He's on the Privy Coucil. They are pretty picky about who they allow to do that.

WhingyNinja · 08/06/2017 10:59

I agree with everything LanaKane said

FannyWisdom · 08/06/2017 10:59

No Sitting disagree with his politics. Easy enough to do without these daft tenuous slurs.

Dullboringusername · 08/06/2017 11:00

What views of his are you concerned about sittin?

StiffyByng · 08/06/2017 11:00

It's not really a meaningful fact unless he is also ready to say how many MPs would pass DV. Taken alone, it doesn't tell you much. Politicians get shown restricted material by virtue of their elected position and are not vetted in the same way that staff are. Over the years I assume hundreds of politicians have seen confidential documents they would not pass vetting to see. It's the way government works.

DV clearance isn't just about terrorism. You could fail it for being in bad debt, for having an affair, for concealing your sexuality, just a few examples. Perhaps some of us can think of senior politicians in key roles over the past 30 years who might have failed on those grounds.
