To ask my neighbour to not put her bin out at 11pm

Because it's noisey as fuck and wakes me up. She gets home normal evening time so plenty of time to do it beforehand

Earplugs.

patronsaintofglocks · 07/06/2017 21:42

She'll laugh in your face.

2bluestars · 07/06/2017 21:42

Yes you are

ImperialBlether · 07/06/2017 21:42

She won't laugh in your face if she's a decent woman!

Caprianna · 07/06/2017 21:42

Lol

Buttercup12233 · 07/06/2017 21:43

You can certainly ask, why not? I'd stop doing it if I realised it was causing a problem.

Grilledaubergines · 07/06/2017 21:44

Yabu I think. 3.00am fair enough but 11.00pm is still evening.

guiltynetter · 07/06/2017 21:44

i think it's just one of those things you have to put up with. maybe she only remembers before she goes to bed every time? at least it's only once a week at most. it's not like she's blasting music outside your house for hours. bins are noisy unfortunately,

villainousbroodmare · 07/06/2017 21:44

YABU. That's life.

user1495484765 · 07/06/2017 21:45

I would ask her nicely and politely if she could either do it earlier or more quietly. Nothing wrong in that at all.

notgivingin789 · 07/06/2017 21:45

Are you for real ? Confused

YABU !

bunnylove99 · 07/06/2017 21:47

I have one who slams beer bottles into his glass recycling bin at 6 in the morning.

Coddiwomple · 07/06/2017 21:47

YANBU

I can't understand people who believe that it's acceptable when you have the choice if she's been there all evening.
You can ask, unfortunately, she doesn't have to show any basic decency or manners, but she might not have realised it was so noisy.

I am always flabbergasted by these people who think it's acceptable to be antisocial and have no regard for anyone else. Why are they like that?

Sandsnake · 07/06/2017 21:48

I think if you ask nicely it is totally fine. It may be that she has no reason she needs to do it at 11pm and so will very happily comply with your request, having been unaware that it bothered you. It may be that she had a valid reason for only being able to put it out at 11pm in which case you'll have to suck it up.

If it was me then I'd very happily comply with your request

NoSquirrels · 07/06/2017 21:49

If it's always 11pm it's probably part of her routine - last whip round to empty all the bins at the end of the day? When do you go to bed - how late is too late for you?

I'd consider a nicely worded request from a usually normal helpful neighbour, but if you're usually the complaining sort perhaps I wouldn't change...

DeadGood · 07/06/2017 21:53

Threads like this are quite depressing, because of comments such as

"i think it's just one of those things you have to put up with"
"That's life"

Why should the OP be woken up when it could probably be avoided? The neighbour presumably has no idea how the sound carries; if the OP asks nicely, the problem could be resolved.

Coddiwomple I completely agree with you

ImperialBlether · 07/06/2017 21:54

When I open these threads I think, "Who the hell are these antisocial people?" and then I read some of the responses and I realise they are on here.

MrsJBaptiste · 07/06/2017 21:56

Hmm, I put mine out at 1am last week after we'd had friends round, usually it's 11ish after our Friday night takeaway. It's not exactly noisy, hope I'm not annoying the neighbours!

Highalert · 07/06/2017 22:00

Maybe she forgets and thinks, oh fuck the bin, just before she goes to bed? Like normal people who have a million and one things to do when they get home from work.

Nipperknight · 07/06/2017 22:02

I don't think YABU. My neighbour is the same, it sounds like thunder down the alley and it's usually after 11pm. Closer to 1am!

Annoys me so much and wakes me up. I'm too chicken to say anything though 😞

Walkingtowork · 07/06/2017 22:04

Fine to ask her. I hope she's a considerate person and makes an effort to do it earlier.

choccyp1g · 07/06/2017 22:04

While you are at it, OP can you ask the bin men not to make so much noise emptying the F**CKERS at 5.45 am?

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 07/06/2017 22:05

nothing wrong in asking, however she does not have to comply.

brexitstolemyfuture · 07/06/2017 22:07

DeadGood thanks and I agree it's depressing. Sometimes I feel like im a fool for always thinking about how my actions affect other people.

Coddiwomple thanks I'm also flabbergasted, if we all just did little things to make each others lives better it would be nice, but many don't want to.

OP posts:
Coddiwomple · 07/06/2017 22:08

MrsJBaptiste why don't you just take the bin out earlier, and just add the last bag later on? That's what we do, it really doesn't need to be such a big deal.
