I am totally and shamelessly begging people not to vote for Theresa May.
Amongst a host of other reasons (education, policing, housing, pay etc), she has confirmed she fully backs the selling off of the NHS.

Self employed are always able to try more errrrmmmm, evasive action

I'm self- employed. I've never attempted it but it would be impossible for me to fiddle the tax on my business income.

malificent7 · 08/06/2017 05:08

Isnt the NHS inefficient due to cuts though?

If doctors and nurses say we need more cash then shouldnt we rake their word for it? They are highly qualified and intelligentt medical professionals with first hand experience of the NHS after all.

hiddenmnetter · 08/06/2017 05:21

YANBU- you're allowed to electioneer. It's just a colossal waste of your time. There are 100 swing seats in this country. Unless you're convincing those people it's a pointless exercise.

Also your OP comes off as massively sanctimonious and is probably more likely to make people vote Tory as an f-you to you.

BeBeatrix · 08/06/2017 05:37

YABU - we live in a democracy. People can vote for whoever they want, and shouldn't be "told" who to vote for

This. It's good to have some places for debating, but the number of 'vote for x' (usually Labour) threads on here is beyond a joke.

SquidgeyMidgey · 08/06/2017 07:06

Isnt the NHS inefficient due to cuts though?
The NHS is inefficient due to there being too many layers of people with make-up jobs. The example given before about the blood test was spot on. It would take a GP a minute or so to do it themself. Appointment times would need to be slightly longer but there would be the money for that if the layers were peeled away.

It's the same with schools under Labour, massive budget increases are headline news but the money doesn't actually get to the classroom, it's lost in those same bloody newly created layers that spring up when councils have cash to spare.

Please don't forget it was Labour who created the whole PFI mess which is ransoming the public sector still.

SquidgeyMidgey · 08/06/2017 07:19

And another reason im.not voting Labour, but this one us purely personal, is that in the depths of the recession the company my husband works for was days from folding. It's one of the country's few remaining car manufacturers and possibly the area's largest employer. I don't blame Labour for the recession, what I blame them for is said company went to Europe to try to secure emergency funding and the government made a show of supporting them for the media but in reality apparently they were delaying and doing their best to not commit to anything. DH had his paydate knocked back 2 months running due to 'payroll issues and it was all about to come crashing down. Thankfully the company was bought privately and is now going from strength to strength.

That's what Labour does for the workers and industry.

NoLotteryWinYet · 08/06/2017 07:47

I think best just for everyone to remember we get to choose again in 5 years and whoever gets in, Brexit is very likely to mean they are kicked out in 5 years. I find that comforting either way!

Mc180768 · 08/06/2017 07:58

YABU - I will vote for who I like.

What I will not be voting is the Labour stranglehold we have had in our area for over a century. We have a sharp new kid on the block. And I like him. Our Labour MP is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

That is my choice. What I would not do is underestimate the intelligence of people and tell them who to vote for, OP.

sysysysref · 08/06/2017 08:39

typical - last year the top 4 uk banks had a bonus pool over 4bn - traders are not on PAYE

Traders receiving part of the bonus pool in a bank are PAYE. Employees have no way round this. If they are contractors they are self employed and get nothing but their daily rate and their tax arrangements are their own concern

Believeitornot · 08/06/2017 08:49

Vote cast.

I have to say it was pretty depressing walking into my children's school and knowing that most people are voting Tory as I live in a safe Tory seat. Which will completely and utter fuck over the very school we were standing in. And my children's education, who were with me at the time.

I've accepted that the Tories will win. And that we will have a re-run of the 90s.

Roll on change in 5 years.

Husk · 08/06/2017 09:06

Actually I'm voting labour but believe there will be a Tory majority.

They deserve it. Why?

The deserve to be responsible for the crock of shit they have created, the lies they have made about Brexit which they didn't believe would happen and the main authors of that have fucked off.

All except bullshit Boris who still one day hopes to be PM.

You deserve everything you voted for TM just hasn't told you the reality of it yet

Believeitornot · 08/06/2017 09:12

If labour win, then they will have to clear up the Brexit mess and they will get the blame. I think Theresa May was either devious or stupid enough to call election in the hope that she could ride out the next 5 years, instead of 3. Because things aren't going to go well.

I hope I'm wrong but I just don't believe she will be good for this country.

makeourfuture · 08/06/2017 09:15

If labour win, then they will have to clear up the Brexit

We are up to it!

Hard work. It won't be easy....it's a deep hole.

But we can do it.

And we start today!!

Two4One2017 · 08/06/2017 11:29

Make you and Momentum are doing a good job today! I just had a Labour ad pop on on Mumsnet for the first time....I've already voted though...

PortiaCastis · 08/06/2017 11:51

D'ya know what, roll on feckin Saturday and after all the leave the country threads on Friday and the hate and mud slinging has hopefully stopped we may get a bit of light relief

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 08/06/2017 12:39

Well I'm voting Tory, whether May kicks my baby in the face or not!

That has to be my favourite line on MN ever Grin

Personally I can't wait to get on here first thing tomorrow to read all the woe-is-me tales from Labour voters about how the world is going to end and they are 'holding their babies close'

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 08/06/2017 13:26

Rumour is the Beast of Bolsover Dennis Skinner could lose his seat.

I doubt it but for it even to be suggested has me a bit Shock

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/06/2017 13:28

Just imagine him furiously typing away, slamming his fingers on the poor long suffering exclamation mark button.

Hope someone keeps him in tea and biscuits.
