That's it really; MN seems to be overwhelmingly Labour leaning and that's not obviously indicative of the country as a whole, and I'm under the impression that MN covers a very wide social/ economic spectrum so you'd think it would be more representative of the electorate a s a whole
Rational non insulting reasons would be good

It is an Internet forum for mums, just middle class, feminist, lefty ones.

llangennith · 07/06/2017 22:39

I'm a Tory voter and when I see the usual Tory bashing thread I don't bother to engage but just use the 'hide thread' facility.

StHeathensGrammar · 07/06/2017 23:05

If you're kid is at a state school you might be interested to see how much funding / teachers their school will loose if the Tories win:

sexymuthafunker · 08/06/2017 07:18

And don't get old and sick they will take your home:

If you are still udecided folks & you care about people and communities, you can pop your postcode into this site and find out how to vote tactically to keep the Tories out:

That's right, vote Labour, the party who want to ensure wealthy people can leave large inheritances to their children, whilst poorer people pay more tax so this can happen Hmm

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 07:56

Poorer people on over 8ok pay a few pounds more. To ensure that many people can pass their inheritance on.

For the many not the few very wealthy people.

Alternatively, if you don't want to be told what to do by someone who can't get their little head round the idea that most Tory voters "care about people and communities", make your own mind up who to vote for Hmm

EastEndQueen · 08/06/2017 08:09

There will be a good mix of views on mumsnet as everywhere - but the 'shy Tory' thing will make an impact on how it appears. I vote Conservative, but also work in healthcare and went to a university with a very active left wing tradition. My facebook wall is full of 'Tory Scum', 'If you vote Tory then you can fuck off' etc. So I keep quiet, keep my own counsel, vote without fuss. I notice that whilst many many of my labour friends have stated their voting intentions explicitly on facebook (and why not, good for them) many friends who I know to not only vote conservative but who will actually actively deliver leaflets, canvass etc have nothing on their social media accounts about it. Aggression from the left, the view that a conservative understanding of the economy makes you evil and cold - it just makes us quiet. But not go away.

I think it makes decent people start to question the whole narrative. There are so many contradictions in the Labour worldview, and as these become more apparent people start to see through them.

NoLotteryWinYet · 08/06/2017 08:20

Yes my Facebook page has jimmy saville wearing a conservative tshirt on it this morning...

NoLotteryWinYet · 08/06/2017 08:20

Posted by a Corbyn supporting friend, not me I should add.

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 08:21

I think it's actually clearer that people are seeing through the propaganda bullshit surrounding JC

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 08:22

Glad you pointed that out Nolottery. I know the Tories stoop low with their propaganda but that seemed a bit poor advertising.

MitzyLeFrouf · 08/06/2017 08:43

Oh please. For every Labour supporter who's a dick on social media there's a Tory supporter who is just as dickish. A Jimmy Saville photo on one MNers Facebook wall is not definitive proof of 'well there we have it, Labour supporters are the worst'. That is just silly childish reasoning on your part.

CrossWordSalad · 08/06/2017 08:48

Mitzy Sadly, that's just not true. If you have been reading the threads on here the last few days, there have been endless posts and OPs saying that Tory voters are morally deficient. I have seen very few insults of any kind aimed Labour voters as a whole.

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 08:49

Have seen many

Two aimed at me deleted on a thread yesterday. By people who were calling me an abusive leftie (I said no abuse and was not deleted)

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 08:49

People see what they want to see.

NoLotteryWinYet · 08/06/2017 08:51

my fb friends are all labour supporters so I couldn't say whether it was representative, i feel there are idiots on all sides in general though. Just gotta ignore it!

user1471517623 · 08/06/2017 08:52

I think it's not, it's just the leftwingers have more to fight against to make their voice heard because the views of rightwingers are covered daily by the mainstream press. Plus if you believe in an equal society and social
justice it's very difficult to understand why others don't, especially those with children, hence passions run high. Plus time and time again you see people spouting utter twaddle that is poorly researched because they've just read lies and spin

MitzyLeFrouf · 08/06/2017 08:52

It is true. It just doesn't suit your narrative. And you will notice I referred to social media as a whole, not MN specifically?

makeourfuture · 08/06/2017 08:54

And don't get old and sick they will take your home

Tories.
