That's it really; MN seems to be overwhelmingly Labour leaning and that's not obviously indicative of the country as a whole, and I'm under the impression that MN covers a very wide social/ economic spectrum so you'd think it would be more representative of the electorate a s a whole
Rational non insulting reasons would be good

'but in an age when experts are derided, what's the point?'

Ah yes, Michael 'Britain's had enough of experts' Gove. Is he going to be May's successor?

You perhaps should read up on what Gove actually said.

OCSockOrphanage · 07/06/2017 20:03

Utopia just means "nowhere". It's not a misrepresentation of anything; it's a polite way of saying you are a deluded fantasist if you think that there is a perfect society.

Dingalingalingaling · 07/06/2017 20:05

I'm not sure it is more likely to be that Tory voters are keeping quiet.
All the Tory voters are at work earning money to pay the taxes so all the benefit scrounging Labour voters can sit at home on mumsnet.

ChinaRose · 07/06/2017 20:12

We tory voters are keeping quiet so we aren't called a cunt/sack of shit by people barely out of school still living at their parents house "can't afford to move out" despite having about 16 gap years in South America.

LovelyBath77 · 07/06/2017 20:18

I haven;t been called a cunt yet but find if I post anything slightly positive about them (conservatives) I get told i'm a tory troll or some such, and no-one seems to engage with my arguments just repeats the same lines.

ChinaRose · 07/06/2017 20:20

Better to keep quiet and just head to the polls tomorrow.

Ontopofthesunset · 07/06/2017 21:16

But the vast majority of Labour voters don't think there is a perfect society, so Utopia is a misrepresentation. Labour voters think that a Labour vision is a fairer society, not a perfect society.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 21:40

What hypocritical posts.

Dishing it out but moaning about taking it.

When no one is even abusing you.

Pathetic

surferjet · 07/06/2017 21:44

MN isn't as leftwing as it used to be, but it's still mainly labour supporters.
But MN is a site for young(ish) middle class / feminist / women so what do you expect?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 07/06/2017 21:48

Lovely

From my middle of the road approach to mumsnet the insults appear to have been thrown around from both sides. The left certainly do not have the monopoly on insults. I would say though that there seems to be more 'why are you voting tory' threads

Loads of left supporters crying out how they believe in liberty, fairness, freedom of speech and morality but then bullying those with different views into silence with the tiresome and unimaginative jibes about evil Tories.

They don't come across as a principled bunch, that's for sure, and I suspect they are just the bullying, vocal minority.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:01

Pentapus do you need glasses?

No Monkey, my vision is fine.

Do you care to state what you actually mean?

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:06

Well you missed the abuse from right wingers under your very nose

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:06

And missed it again, clearly

BeyondDespairandRepair · 07/06/2017 22:10

I disagree.
I think people who have other views to some of the rabid left on here have had more confidence to speak out. I have been on MN for a few years not longer term and when I first came on there was a strangle hold on so many threads promoting certain views.

This has noticeably lessened and more posters seem more confident to speak out. Hard to speak out - when rabid left posters are frothing in your face Grin

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:12

Someone else needing glasses I see

2rebecca · 07/06/2017 22:17

Agree right wing views get more criticism so people don't bother airing them, same with Brexit views.
A lot of people don't give a monkeys, they're not well represented on political threads as they don't bother with them.
i get bored with political threads on mumsnet as they become circular and some people seem to view political arguments as a sort of fight to the death.

Justanotherlurker · 07/06/2017 22:19

TheMonkey

You called yourself morally superior because you didnt vote labour, the "tories are at work" is a lame joke that is on par with yours.

Flumpernickel · 07/06/2017 22:20

"But MN is a site for young(ish) middle class / feminist / women so what do you expect?"

And there was I making the mistake of believing it was called mumsnet because it was a internet forum for mums. I must have missed the detailed class/age/political based entry requirements. Wink

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:21

Justanother you don't even make sense

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 22:23

The abuse towards people who are left wing here is laughable. Especially from those moaning about getting abuse.

Pathetic hypocrisy.

Will leave you to your Tory mutual wankathon

Pentapus · 07/06/2017 22:23

Monkey
I was responding to the OP. There's no absolute mandate for anyone to RTwholeFT, and it's pretty ironic for you to get shirty about it, don't you think?

Flumpernickel · 07/06/2017 22:26

"Pathetic hypocrisy.

I do not even know where to begin with this one. Thanks for the laugh Monkey.
