That's it really; MN seems to be overwhelmingly Labour leaning and that's not obviously indicative of the country as a whole, and I'm under the impression that MN covers a very wide social/ economic spectrum so you'd think it would be more representative of the electorate a s a whole
Rational non insulting reasons would be good

Yeah that wasn't on, but neither is the constant bashing of "lefties"

Plus one could argue that wanting to push lots of people further into poverty, putting more tax money into the hands of private companies and wanting the freedom to rip foxes apart with packs of dogs is pretty "nasty" tbh. Wink

strawberrygate · 07/06/2017 13:17

there does seem to be a high level of insults against Tories which I don't see against labour voters.
I'd be interested to know if anyone ever gets called an evil labour supporter with no empathy or regards for anyone else in society.

I don't think it is.

I think it is mostly small-c conservative.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 07/06/2017 13:18

Most have worked out some time ago that it is an exercise in futility to try and have a reasonable discussion about politics without being called evil/brainwashed/racist/xenophobic/stupid/selfish etc.

I wonder if these are the same people who ono an earlier thread, refused to engage with the perfectly reasonable debate going on and instead started banging on about "screeching lefties" without actually trying to answer or debate in any way with the points raised.

This works both ways you know.

MaidOfStars · 07/06/2017 13:18

But the demographic is mostly mums with children who are still under 18
This. The membership is skewed to a particular demographic, one which tends to Labour/Lib Dem.

Figaro2017 · 07/06/2017 13:19

There is no debate on Internet forums. Just people who want to shout loudly whilst not listening.

The only view that matters is the one you express in the polling booth.

Lochan · 07/06/2017 13:19

I would assume it's simply because the Conservatives are currently in power. You don't need to shout loudly about your views if your views are currently represented by the party in power.

You're far more likely to be starting threads if you are in opposition (of any flavour)

I wouldn't post on MN if it wasnt left leaning.

Stickerrocks · 07/06/2017 13:20

A lot of Conservative voters are at work as well

I thought they were all blue rinsed, xenophobic pensioners! Grin Must go, my lunch break is over.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 07/06/2017 13:21

That's not to say all Cuntservative voters are only looking out for themselves. Voting in the Cunts because that bunch of cunts serve their purposes and they're too stupid or selfish to see the damage the Cunts have done to the wider society

This is the equivalent of a toddler running into a room full of adults and shouting 'BUM' before running out again all pleased with himself.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 07/06/2017 13:21

Yes Navy

Why is that so hard to understand that it works both ways?

Imo it is unacceptable to shut a debate down by being rude, whether by calling all Tory voters Cunts (I don't think they are- wrong maybe!) or by trying to shut down debate by refusing to engage and calling anyone with a different view a "squaking Labourbot" (actual quote from a thread this morning)

Birdsbeesandtrees · 07/06/2017 13:22

Damn can I not be left wing/ Tory and at work ? Bugger. Shall have to ring my boss and tell her I'm calling in leftie.

Four posts in should answer your question.

Saying you voted leave and / or are thinking of voting Tory goes down as well here as suggesting that some people:s children are ghastly spoilt brats.

I don't think there will be any reason to celebrate on June 9, whatever the outcome - same as last June 24 .

jensterr · 07/06/2017 13:23

I work in a very left leaning sector and it's the same here - express any view other than hard left and you are called scum.

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 07/06/2017 13:23

This is like those debates about the BBC.

As far as I am concerned if the left think it's too right leaning, and the right think it's too lefty, it's probably pretty fair and centrist.

It's all about confirmation bias imo.

BabsGanoush · 07/06/2017 13:23

I agree. I'm sick of reading the abuse the Left spout on here.

Smeaton I've reported your post as it is very offensive.

impossibledreams · 07/06/2017 13:23

In response to aggressively detailing any (however minor) government failings in the last 7 years, on not one thread has anyone been able to clearly outline the success stories of the previous 13 year Labour government.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 13:24

some Tory voters here may not swear but are very very rude and nasty indeed

BertrandRussell · 07/06/2017 13:24

There is currently a thread where anyone expressing concerns about the erosion of human rights is being called a terrorist sympathizer.

Feminists are routinely overwhemend by anti feminist posters.

Anyone expressing "non traditional"views about relationships or marriage is usually outnumbered.

So definitely small-c Conservative

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 07/06/2017 13:24

and then act holier than thou

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 07/06/2017 13:24

How about being accused of caring more about terrorists than the country Navy??
Thats fucking massively insulting and has happened to me loads on here.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 07/06/2017 13:24

I'm a floating voter. I've voted Tory in the past. I'm voting Labour this time (or a lady minute change to libdem).
My ex - Ukip (only Ukip to get Brexit apparently - and we disagree about Brexit) neighbour is voting Labour. He has even put a sign outside his house telling people not to vote Tory.(He is also an ex Tory part member and lives opposite the MP).
I know at least 3 other died in wool blue who are wavering.
