DH is 67 His comment to me when i mentioned this thread was that the Gallager brothers feud is more like a playground spat .

Ray Davies and Dave Davies the brothers from the Kinks used to come to blows VERY regularly and one brother put the other in hospital.

What a concert it would have been with Noel and N-Dubz (Grin) ! And thank God we didn't have Paul McCartney leading the crowd in a rendition of Hey Jude to end the show ... YET AGAIN

Most of it wasn't to my taste but I think the point was if was Ariana's concert.

Maudlinmaud · 05/06/2017 20:10

I said on the other thread one direction had covered an oasis song. It wasn't don't look back in anger it was wonderwall. Dd has it blasting from her bedroom. One direction wrote it apparently Shock

Blimey - just looked up the lyrics of some of grande's songs - didnt see the whole thing and she mumbles like pearl Mackie, although more musically.

And I thought 'leave me breathless ' was a bit near the knuckle in my younger days....

Never mind. Hope her feet are recovering from those horrific shoes and someone can fix her jeans. And that she and all the other performers know that between them they made everyone happier.

Liam had a feud with Robbie and labelled him the 'fat dancer' from Take That. He has said that Chris Martin looks like something from the Tweenies and that Cold Play are beyond shit. I'd imagine it was awkward enough backstage without adding Noel into the equation.

This is a hilarious take on it:

To be honest, what does it matter. I'd have preferred Noel over Liam but ultimately the night was about something bigger than both of them. I'm glad Noel is keeping a dignified silence, Liam continues to be the biggest gobshite in the north.

Today 14:55 Purplepicnic

I enjoyed that tweet from Liam immensely.

Me too. He just tells it like it it.

nina2b · 05/06/2017 20:46

...it is.

Littlegreyauditor · 05/06/2017 20:49

Jonny Marr wasn't the main attraction of The Smiths though.

How dare you, Navy HOW VERY DARE YOU?! Johnny Marr and his beautiful, spiralling guitar skills are a thing of beauty . I am shocked to my core. Next you will be disparaging John Squire. Shock

I thought the concert was wonderful. The music was just right for the occasion.
And the occasion was to raise funds for the victims of the attack.
No idea if the artists did it for publicity but really not many people haven't heard of Justin Bieber so don't think he needs a lot of publicity. Miley Cyrus sang an old song with her friend. The Black Eyed Peas sang their old song. Coldplay sang two of their old songs.....What were they publicising exactly? Hmm
They were asked to perform with about a weeks notice to raise funds for the victims many of them children.
And Noel should have been there. As much as I don't really like Liam he was right Noel should have sang his tunes for the kids.

It's like that quote from Almost Famous: "I'm the front man, you're the guitarist with mystique. That's the dynamic we agreed on" Grin

I cannot tolerate Morissey. Never could.
I can respect your Frusciante love though. That's fair, he is skilful (and overshadowed by a frontman with an abundance of self confidence).

ssd · 07/06/2017 09:34

I bloody love Morrissey, I just don't listen if he isn't singing.

Lionking1981 · 07/06/2017 10:21

Noel wasn't obliged to go but it would have been a very nice gesture for Manchester if he had made the effort like Liam. I like both Gallaghers - they are both talented and very, very funny but I do get the impression that Noel would rather hang out with the likes of Bono and Madonna than his old Manchester lot. Liam is a dick but he is so genuine, I cant help but I love him. I think Noel described them perfectly in the supersonic documentary - he said he was a cat and that liam was a dog - and that is pretty much the cause of all their problems.
