All those American and British artists supporting Manchester, where's that fecker Noel Gallagher. Liam has been there for his home city and he's supposed to be the loutish one

Thanks Boulshired, more than fair enough. Saw it on the bill so had assumed he was already in the UK. I thought the concert was amazing especially the short time they had to sort it. I also thought given London, both acts and audience were ballsy and it acted as a huge Fuck You to those who would have liked to have seen it cancelled.

The Oasis feud is an odd one. On the one hand you have Noel saying his brother was violent/unreliable and the other band members were just standing by when he was unstable. On the other hand you have Liam saying Noel increasingly wanted to sing the songs leaving him like a spare prick. Families, eh?

Chris Martin did very well in deciding right at the start that Coldplay would share royalties/were all equal valuable members.

I'm a huge oasis fan for the nostalgia but I reckon the kids were enjoying their music and would've been fine without it.

I too wonder whether the no contact isn't for good reason - slander but Liam still has the look of a man still prey to his drug demons. On the face of it you'd think this would get them together but maybe they got violent with each other.

Sad but not always resolveable, like a lot of situations with family.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/06/2017 15:32

I wouldn't have missed Liam if he hadn't turned up TBH or Little Mix or Bieber, still the same nasal noise as back in the 90s

BorisTrumpsHair · 05/06/2017 15:33

Liam was singing two classic Oasis songs written 100% by his brother Noel (oh and his own "new" song which no one knew and he was there to promote - so kind Liam, so kind).

Noel was there in the songs of his that were performed by others.

MoiraRosesMeltdown · 05/06/2017 15:34

FlyingElbows I was called 'a disgusting excuse for a human' for making that point on Facebook today. I am sure all the performers were moved by the events, but they were promoting themselves and their music.

IHateUncleJamie · 05/06/2017 15:34

If Morrissey had appeared, I'd have changed channels while he was on. In a polite and rather British manner. Can't stand the grumpy twat.

squoosh · 05/06/2017 15:35

If Morrissey had appeared he'd have gone on a right wing rant.

pottered · 05/06/2017 15:35

Morrissey not really the right kind of songs for the event either - could've done some stone roses though!

StorminaBcup · 05/06/2017 15:37

Liam's just riding the Manchester wave, all press is good for him at the moment (new album, on tour) and you know how everyone loves a good Gallagher spat.

daisychainagain · 05/06/2017 15:40

Morrissey is a grumpy old bastard and would've moaned about something! Glad he wasn't there!

GinSwigmore · 05/06/2017 15:41

The new single is very good to be fair. I can't think of any Oasis hits which weren't penned by Noel. Songbird? so Liam goes and sings three Noel songs and then gets slammed for being the less talented one/wish Noel had sung them etc etc
No one can win in the circumstances. On one thread yesterday Ariana was still being slated as it being good publicity ffs. Am amazed Piers Morgan didn't try and take credit for the whole thing coming off the back of his critique. Poor show. Everyone should channel Thumper's mum.
As for altruism, many of the acts playing were there at their own risk, their own expense and playing hits/appropriate songs rather than current material in fairness (so Katy sang Part of me, thank God, rather than Spread my legs like a buffet). Any new fans coming their way, again, fair play to 'em.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/06/2017 15:42

He's a (not terribly talented) musician as is his brother - I don't imagine his presence was truly missed. It was only the fact that one of their mediocre songs has appropriate lyrics that it is in the spotlight right now.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/06/2017 15:43

And I don't imagine most of the people at the concert would give a toss one way or the other

BorisTrumpsHair · 05/06/2017 15:45

are you talking about Noel Livia - the one who writes all the songs, plays guitar, sings etc?

Or Liam, the one who sings, plays the tamborine and has many tantrums?

Paul McCartney? He's from Liverpool.

WannaBe · 05/06/2017 15:47

IMO neither of them should have been there. If they'd both been there it would have been about a reunion which wasn't. The fact that only Liam was there means that it became about Noel (no, I have no idea what the spelling is) wasn't there, so either way it's been made about them. Neither of them should have been there then there wouldn't have been this discussion.

And Robbie Williams shouldn't have been there either. He was a disgrace, high as a kite on whatever it is he's using this month, and it was very clear the commentators were trying to cover the embarrassment "oh it's very emotional for him/he's been through a hard time/he's on painkillers for his back...." yeah right.

iklboo · 05/06/2017 15:48

Sir Paul of Oooooh Head Wobble McCartney did a vox pop tribute bit.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 05/06/2017 15:49

Do you know who I missed? Bez.

I would have enjoyed seeing him dancing on the stage Grin

TheWitTank · 05/06/2017 15:50

I wouldn't imagine it would be that easy to just pitch up at very short notice and play songs you haven't really touched in a decade with a family member you have a very volatile NC relationship with and haven't performed with in years. The focus was on the right thing -the cause and the victims and their families -not on some age old fued between two brothers who used to be famous. Liam swaggering about slagging off his brother is ridiculously attention seeking and point scoring. It's great that he played the concert, now shut up Liam and stop making it all about you.

JuicyCake · 05/06/2017 15:50

Liam slagging off Noel & Damon, when he's on stage with Chris Martin...

HerOtherHalf · 05/06/2017 15:51

Last night was not about the Gallagher brothers and shame on those who make it so.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 05/06/2017 15:52

You're not from Manchester are you Livia? The Gallagher brothers are folk heroes really.

squoosh · 05/06/2017 15:52

Poor old Ma Gallagher must spend a lot of her time rolling her eyes.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/06/2017 15:54

are you talking about Noel Livia - the one who writes all the songs, plays guitar, sings etc?

Or Liam, the one who sings, plays the tamborine and has many tantrums?

I'm talking about Noel who writes shit music and Liam who can't sing! Their music is mind numbingly crap And they both look like they are unfamiliar with the concept of soap

But then I don't like Paul McCartney either...
