How the hell can we stop this?

Funny how you have now all twisted that to just 'grooming' mosques.

Here's my take. We are in the middle of a national crisis due to the threat of Islamist extremism. It seems we are gradually starting to be able to talk properly about it and the problems we face. It is good that people can now start to discuss what is happening and what we need to do to try to resolve this issue. If someone makes a suggestion, such as closing all mosques, which is unnecessary and counterproductive, this is not the end of the world and should not be used as an excuse to try to stop people discussing the problem. Instead, if we disagree, we can explain why, like rational people. We don't need to go round accusing the person of racism. We don't need to accuse everyone who is trying to discuss the issue of racism because one person has made a suggestion we disagree with.

The accusations of racist and anti-Muslim to people trying to discuss this are getting tired. I don't know about you Chloe but I follow quite a few Muslims on Twitter, and they are saying some of the things that you seem so outraged about. You do know that Maajid Nawaz is a Muslim?

Last thing, there is no "you all". Read my posts to see what I say about mosques. What someone else posts is not my view. What I post is my view, and even that may change as I learn more and discuss.

For myself, I am going to return to discussing the subject of the thread and ignore any generalised slurs at "you all" as I don't think they add anything to the discussion. If you want to challenge anything I have said, then please do Chloe but if you want to use what other posters have said to attack me, I am not interested. As I say, my views are my views.

Well said Crossword.
And it's not just the direct slurs of racism, it's the indirect ones too.
We are all racist, whether we even comment on a specific post or not!
No wonder this country has the issues it currently faces, when people cannot even have a sensible discussion about it, warts & all, without somebody firing off Islamaphobe accusations.
As for the racist accusations towards people on here, perhaps it is worth remembering what the term 'racism' actually means. The antagonism towards another race in the belief that they are inferior...a lot of the issues we are facing today are actually centred on the fact that there is a large Islamic globalised movement of people, who truly believe that westerners and non-Muslims are very much inferior. So in that sense, it seems a little ironic.

I've been living in Israel for many years. We know terror. I've been here through suicide bomb attacks, rockets, car and knife attacks. And I'm (we're) still here.

The terrorists win when the people feel terrorised. When we don't go out and about, when we won't go to bars, cafes and concerts. When we won't ride buses.

We win by not letting them cause Fear. We continue with our lives, we go to water parks, we walk down main streets, we ride the bus across town, we hang out in clubs.

But we are vigilant when we do all this. We pay attention to our surroundings and the people around us. We take krav maga classes. We are all the guy who will instinctively run at the attacker yelling we are f*ing Millwall. Because there's no thinking in those situations, we train our instincts. And we're stronger for it. And we're still here.

Newshiny good post. I want my kids to do training in first aid and self defence. Not just stockpile tiny candles.

Following on from my earlier post about how Islamic terrorism can be tackled mist efficiently by the Muslim community itself - the refusal by over 200 Muslim religious leaders to perform funeral prayers for the attackers is just the response we need! It sends just the right message and is a very brave response.

Yes Kookie. I do agree.
Also mentioned how one of the 7/7 bombers was returned to his native Pakistan, and had a full Islamic burial attended by 200 mourners..
Hopefully that will change!
