Shop assistant rude

I went to boots to get one of those foundation matches and just as the lady was about to match me I remembered that I'd used a facial moisturiser with added self tan the night before. It really didn't occur to me before then but when I realised I asked her if I could just come back another time as the match is unlikely to match my skin tone. Her reply was 'well you know we have a lot of customers and you should have thought about that before you came'. I asked her could she stop being rude as it was a mistake and it takes all of two seconds to match it anyways, she started raising her voice and began to tell me how ridiculous I was for coming the night after I had tanned my face. I just turned around and accidentally on purpose knocked some stuff off her stand with my huge handbag, walked out and told her to calm down and that was that. I'm so pissed off though should I complain even though I was equally as unreasonable by knocking the things over? She was so fiesty and down my throat I really can't believe her rudeness

Why on earth did you think it would be okay to have a childish tantrum and knock over her display? YABU!

SuperPug · 04/06/2017 00:24

Hmm... maybe don't complain if you knocked stuff over with your handbag.
She does sound rude and it doesn't sound like great customer service. Sometimes I think you can feel worse if you don't say something.

TyneTeas · 04/06/2017 00:25

Yes she was a bit rude, but honestly, 'accidentally on purpose' knocking things off? Really??

HooplaLoopla1 · 04/06/2017 00:25

OR you could just be grateful you're not in the midst of a terrorist incident and your biggest worry is getting a foundation match ffs!

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:25

Because she was a rude bitch and spoke to me like I was a child, therefore I decided to act like one

OP posts:
MumIsRunningAMarathon · 04/06/2017 00:25

Nah.... you are far worse

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:26

Oh god why don't you go through every thread that is not about a terrorist incident and post the same comment on there, ridiculous response!

ThatWouldBeGreat · 04/06/2017 00:26

I will not comment on the shop assistants comments Hmm

I don't think you are in any position to make a complaint... YABVU

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 04/06/2017 00:26

You lost the moral high ground doing that

AnathemaPulsifer · 04/06/2017 00:27

YAB utterly U. She was too, but you were ridiculous.

HooplaLoopla1 · 04/06/2017 00:27

Have people posted this kind of stupid bollocks since this has been announced and is still developing? No didn't think so! Get a fucking grip!

Missingthepoint · 04/06/2017 00:30

You've answered your own question. Two wrongs do not make a right. She should have hidden her irritation at you better, you should not have knocked things over. You were lucky not to be escorted out by security. I think you will need to shop elsewhere.

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:30

I did cringe at myself after, that's why I'm asking if I should make a complaint after I acted as bad as she did. Would expect a shop assistant to have a sense equanimity in most situations though, even if the customer dared to forget they'd self tanned the night before.

OP posts:
jmh740 · 04/06/2017 00:31

You sound very rude and childish. I wouldn't complain have you thought about contacting the store to apologise for your behaviour?

FuzzyPillow · 04/06/2017 00:31

I think you sound as bad as she does, or worse. Without meaning to sound rude, I hope I never encounter either of you in a difficult situation! I think you both need to work on your communication skills as you both dealt with the situation terribly.

Don't think you have a leg to stand on with making a complaint.

BeyondTheReasons · 04/06/2017 00:32

OR you could just be grateful you're not in the midst of a terrorist incident and your biggest worry is getting a foundation match ffs!

Regardless of the OP this reallly is a ridiculous comment to make.

We all have first world problems that objectively don't mean anything but this comment was so unnecessary.

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:32

I knocked a sign or two over with my handbag I didn't do a bluddy belly flop onto her display Hmm

Grow up.

TitaniasCloset · 04/06/2017 00:34

I have worked on beauty counters, yes she didn't handle it well, thats bad custoner service, but you lost the moral high ground when you flipped and made yourself look bad to be honest.

HooplaLoopla1 · 04/06/2017 00:35

No it's not. She's posted when this has JUST happened and is STILL developing. First world problems don't come into it-there is a REAL problem happening right now!

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 04/06/2017 00:36

I really don't think you can make a complaint.

TBH I think in this situation you come off terribly, after she said the "you should have thought of that" comment you could have just said "yeah I know it was just a mistake, so is it ok to come back another time?" And left it at that. To me it sounds like you escalated the situation and made some unnecessary drama.

upwardsandonwards33 · 04/06/2017 00:37

She has been rude but my advice is to shake it off and move on. Just avoid her if you see her again. 'Funnily' enough, I had an incident with a rude Boots assistant last year and just avoided him.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 00:37

YABVU. She may have been rude initially, but you escalated it and acted like a spoilt brat.

You were the one that needed to calm down.
