Shop assistant rude

I went to boots to get one of those foundation matches and just as the lady was about to match me I remembered that I'd used a facial moisturiser with added self tan the night before. It really didn't occur to me before then but when I realised I asked her if I could just come back another time as the match is unlikely to match my skin tone. Her reply was 'well you know we have a lot of customers and you should have thought about that before you came'. I asked her could she stop being rude as it was a mistake and it takes all of two seconds to match it anyways, she started raising her voice and began to tell me how ridiculous I was for coming the night after I had tanned my face. I just turned around and accidentally on purpose knocked some stuff off her stand with my huge handbag, walked out and told her to calm down and that was that. I'm so pissed off though should I complain even though I was equally as unreasonable by knocking the things over? She was so fiesty and down my throat I really can't believe her rudeness

You're acting like a child again, OP.

Perhaps if you don't act like a child, people won't treat you like one.

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:41

No actually mermaid I haven't, I was pleasant to her and did not go in to be treated like a child and told what I should have done, she was practically shouting at me and rattling off a load of shite that she had to do that was her job anyways, I'll not make a complaint end of thread! Goodnight everybody

You weren't being unreasonable...

...until you knocked over her display.

Sometimes you just don't need to stoop to people's levels. Her frustration (to some extent) can be justified but you just ended up seeming a bit childish.

TyneTeas · 04/06/2017 00:41

~Fin~

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 00:42

I very much doubt the shop assistant was shouting at you. She'll be surrounded by staff who would be on the lookout for any rude behaviour.

And customers like you are why people hate retail.

SecretNutellaFix · 04/06/2017 00:43

You are behaving utterly ridiculously.

Don't put a complaint in about her attitude, I think yours was far worse in knocking stuff over.

JuicyStrawberry · 04/06/2017 00:43

She was very unprofessional and rude. You had done nothing wrong when she snapped at you so you didn't deserve to be spoken to like that.

Yes you shouldn't have knocked the stuff off the counter and should have gone over to complain straight away instead, but her behaviour towards a customer was bang out of order. Very unprofessional.

Hotelindigo · 04/06/2017 00:43

End of thread, goodnight everybody Grin

"End of thread"

That's twice you said that. Did it not work the first time?

HooplaLoopla1 · 04/06/2017 00:46

Hotelindigo get a fucking perspective. It's NOT that you've posted, or even WHAT you've posted. It's your timing.

Oh and YABVVVU regarding the Boots assistant - maybe she was rude because she picked up on your shitty vibe?

dontbesillyhenry · 04/06/2017 00:47

What a dickhead. I don't mean the shop assistant, btw

WyfOfBathe · 04/06/2017 00:49

Typical AIBU Grin
OP: AIBU?
PP: YABU?
OP: No I'm not! Stop talking to me!

alltoomuchrightnow · 04/06/2017 00:50

I've worked in retail nearly three decades. People like you are the reason I never want to again even though I really need a job right now.
I expect she was rude because she picked up on your tone or manner.
It's not ideal to try and match if you'd tanned your face.
Very childish and spiteful to knock things over

WyfOfBathe · 04/06/2017 00:50

Hoopla OP making this thread doesn't affect the incident in London at all.

Crumbs1 · 04/06/2017 00:50

I rarely come across somebody so spoilt, so rude, so unreasonable and so unpleasant. Are you what my children would describe as 'a chav'?

alltoomuchrightnow · 04/06/2017 00:51

so if you get poor service in a restaurant, do you start throwing glasses and plates?

HooplaLoopla1 · 04/06/2017 00:53

WyfOfBathe I know that and I haven't said it does. I'm carpeting the OP for her timing.

SugarnetMum · 04/06/2017 00:54

She was being unreasonable complaining that you said sorry you put fake tan on the night before :S she's a customer assistant she needs to leave her problems at home when she comes to work she absolutely should have not got any way angry with you even before you knocked her stuff. Jeez she obviously has some problems you should make a complaint about rude staff with a temperment

BadLad · 04/06/2017 00:54

Jesus, how pathetic.

What do you hope to get out of the complaint?

If you want aknowlegement that she was rude then that probably won't happen if you've knocked stuff over in a huff. She will just say that you were being difficult.
If I were you I would just forget about it.

Ive seen people that have been colour matched at boots and they all look orange so maybe you've had a lucky escape.

Why call people chavs crumbs? Says more about you then anyone else and doesn't make you look funny. Just makes you look like a dick.

RhythmAndStealth · 04/06/2017 01:02

Next time, just go to B&Q and buy some Cuprinol instead OP. They have a policy about employing older workers, who are more polite nod eferential to the customer.

EarlsC0urt · 04/06/2017 01:05

Yes, she was rude but so were you.... So who would you file the complaint against?

BeepBeepMOVE · 04/06/2017 01:17

You wasted her time and when she made a perfectly normal comment about it you said she was rude- that is rude!

Why do members of the public expect retail staff to lick their arseholes. You were a massive DICK!

LauderSyme · 04/06/2017 01:18

She was so fiesty and down my throat I really can't believe her rudeness

Bet she's thinking the same about you. In fact, after everything you've written, we're all thinking the same about you. You, OP, are what we in customer service roles call a cunt.
