Every single song is such a tune

Other bands will be considered for a top three. Backstreet boys and Blue maybe.

Baby if you've got to go awayyyy
Don't think I could take the painnnnn
Won't you stay another dayyyyy!

That song always seems to appear at emotional times for me, when I was a teen and our dog got put down this was on the radio and suddenly appeared on the music channels too, then again 2 years ago when DD was going for her heart operation, the song was on the radio!

Love love LOVE 5ive, backstreet boys, 911, etc. May have to have a day of music educating DD(3) on the importance of 90s music Grin

Oh wow, the nostalgia! I loved 5ive. I cut out a picture of Rich(ie) Neville and sellotaped it into the inside lid of my pencil tin.

I had an attic bedroom with a sloping ceiling above my bed. I covered it in 5ive posters.

Do kids of today still put posters up? They always looked so crap with the staple holes in the middle Grin

glitterglitters · 31/05/2017 10:52

@CatsRidingRollercoasters the knack of prising open the staples in an attempt not to rip them 😂👌🏼

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 31/05/2017 10:55

@glitterglitters I pinged off many a stick on nail gem (free with Sugar or J17 probably) perfecting that particular art Grin

Are used to love the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC and I just had to go on the watch everybody on YouTube because of this thread!

Imaystillbedrunk · 31/05/2017 11:12

Clearly backstreet boys were the best. Saw them, 5ive and Mcbusted in one glorious gig a couple of summers ago. 5ive were amusing as they were drunk, BSB were slick, sounded amazing (but live) dancing in sync. Mcbusted were meh. Too many busted songs

QueenMortificado · 31/05/2017 11:22

Mcbusted are way too modern for this thread

Kavanagh I have such appreciation for!

I just happen to know a member of A1. I see him (hobby) twice a week Grin

Imaystillbedrunk · 31/05/2017 11:27

O Town were a bit of guilty pleasure for me

ItsAYesFromMe · 31/05/2017 11:30

Ben from A1 has been in my bedroom.
Ok, we were kids and I was good friends with his cousin cos his grandparents were my neighbours but still- he's been in my bedroom! Grin

fruityb · 31/05/2017 11:34

I hate seeing it written 5ive! They never did it on their albums!

TheNaze73 · 31/05/2017 11:36

Northern Line were the shizz... Wink

Imaystillbedrunk · 31/05/2017 11:37

I've held hands with Kevin from the Backstreet Boys. He looked me in the eyes and thanked me for coming to see them on cd:UK

NinaMarieP · 31/05/2017 11:56

There's also a line by 5ive which is "ain't got no manners cos I eat with my fingers / we can get down and make you grab you by your biscuits"

....

I think you mean:

I'm the bad boy you invite for dinner
Ain't got no manners cause I eat with my fingers
Lost boys terrorise the neighbourhood
The hounds of the Baskervilles will be up to no good.

And later:

We be the roughnecks, no concept, no business
We here to get down and make em grab your biscuits.

But I'm not sure that's any better!!

I still have Five/5ive on my iPhone. Regularly listen to them!

WetPaint4 · 31/05/2017 12:43

I loved Backstreet Boys and Nsync. Also liked the likes of Blue (although their best track imo was a cover) and Another Level (same). I loved 3T too, although they weren't around for long. I decided I was totally going to marry one of the Ts when I grew up Grin

5ive weren't bad, they were better than 911 and A1. A1 were truly shocking. Most of these groups were pretty poor at the singing actually. Average voices thrown together because they belonged to good looking boys.

For me, you just can't get past Boyz II Men. They weren't pretty boys, weren't sexy, at all. But the voices, the silky smooth tunes, the harmonies... ahhh. They're just a different level of boyband. You probably wouldn't call them a boyband actually but I'm not sure how else you'd describe them.

Albatross26 · 31/05/2017 13:05

Love this thread. Backstreet's back ALRIGHT! Grin

OhOurBilly · 31/05/2017 13:10

Have Blue not had a mention yet? I was an n*sync girl myself but my best mate loved Blue. We went to see 5ive twice. And I've snogged Danny from McFly

ttcnovice · 31/05/2017 13:16

BSB, then 5ive, then it's a close tie between NSYNC and Blue for me! I think Justin Timberlake with his cute curly hair probably wins it for NSYNC though Blush.

squoosh · 31/05/2017 13:25

I always thought there was something really depressing about 5ive. And Blue. That Lee Ryan has such a ferrety little face.

At least the Backstreet Boys had/have some really catchy tunes. Total guilty pleasure.

Runny · 31/05/2017 13:30

YABVU because obviously Backstreet Boys were!

I did like Five though, and god they were all a damn sight better than that bloody dirge Westlife.

Vocal harmony group.

The guy with the really low bassy voice = total sex.

QueenMortificado · 31/05/2017 13:59

Actually the album tracks from Blue were (who am I kidding, still are) really really good. Better than some of the absolute fillers from the others

Glitters Steve from BBMak used to train at my Muay Thai club in Liverpool....he was GAWJUSS Grin My friend and and I used to swoon over him and were gutted when he left the club when they hit the 'big time'. I imagine their management wouldn't allow him to do martial arts in case he acquired any bruises Sad as if anyone would have dared to direct a punch at his beautiful face

Blue had some excellent tunes as did 5ive. I heard Keep On Moving this morning on my local radio station which made me wonder if the DJ is a secret MNer Hmm

MargotLovedTom1 · 31/05/2017 14:03

Nick Carter from BSB looks so fit different these days (much better without the blonde curtains)!
