For body shaming JC, that is just beyond vile and nasty. Glad it's looking like they will not win.

She is over.

All TM had to do at the start of this campaign is STFU
To be fair all she's done is arrogantly call an early election and then hide from the public or any opportunity where she can't repeat her sound bites.

Her local candidates in my area are following her lead by refusing to attend debates, doing odd bbc interviews and then telling constituents by email "don't tell me how to campaign. If you don't support me then fine but if you don't get me you get Corbyn so.ner ner ner..." screen shots of emails are going around social media. But he's just doing what his leader does

NotYoda · 01/06/2017 09:10

I think it's extraordinary that May didn't turn up

Yes, she's the emcumbent, but she was unelected

Is it wrong that I like Time Farron so much, and Caroline Lucas always impresses

MaybeNextWeek · 01/06/2017 09:10

'She's hardly done any campaigning. '
Really? I've seen plenty on the news. She was campaigning yesterday instead of taking part. That was my point the desperate 'she couldn't be bothered so why should you' comment would only have been relevant if she was sunbathing somewhere.

Can any sturgeon supporters suggest why she also 'couldn't be bothered'?

Crackednips · 01/06/2017 09:13

WorldsacpeLove When arguments fail there's always one's 'flippancy' and 'wit' to fall back on..

Sorry. What porkies have been told? Can you elaborate? He told 3 absolute whoppers to Andrew Neil the other day.

1: "I didn’t support the IRA. What I wanted was a peace process".

2: "I never met the IRA."

3: "‘My role was supporting a process which would bring about a dialogue and I believe you have to talk."

And how do you feel about him claiming to be for Gay rights, but supports Iran and groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, who murder Gay people on principle?

MaisyPops · 01/06/2017 09:13

Caroline Lucas always impresses
She does. If a green vote would count then I would vote green.
As it happens I'm voting Labour to keep my seat labour.

Under Theresa May's repeal of the fixed term parliament act and new constituencies if the tories get in they can keep calling opportunistic elections as they see fit. They also want to get rid of all forms of PR voting for mayors etc and replace it with first past the post.

Anyone would think they are desperate to make any opposition limited and silence smaller parties.

GetAHaircutCarl · 01/06/2017 09:16

Oh she's done plenty of campaigning.
She's just quietly targeted the seats that matter to the Tory campaign. As has her team.

And this is what Labour should be doing. Meeting students and Momentum folk might be lovely but it won't win the votes they need.

GrumpyOldBag · 01/06/2017 09:18

MaisyPops a Green vote does count!

You may not live in a seat where a Green MP is likely to be elected, but it counts in the overall tally - and if there is a percentage swing to the Greens, then other parties will have to take some of their policies on board.

Look at UKIP - a vote for them did not "count" in the sense of electing MPs, but they were so successful a political force we're now facing a disastrous future outside the EU.

But Fair Play to you if you want to vote tactically to keep Labour in power/stop the Tories.

Peregrina · 01/06/2017 09:28

Can any sturgeon supporters suggest why she also 'couldn't be bothered'?

Sturgeon is not a Westminster MP. Theresa May is (was technically). Would anyone criticise May for not muscling in on a Holyrood election?

WorldsacpeLove · 01/06/2017 10:00

@russelbertrand - yes, special services, MI6 etc... The UKs equivalent of Mossad (intelligence and special services)

MaisyPops · 01/06/2017 10:03

GrumpyOldBag
I went green in the last election and in all local ones. Always been half green and half labour.
After the results of the last election I decided I'd join the Labour party and fight to try and get rid of the tories.

I can't stand the idea of my Labour seat going to a 20 odd year old student from a different part of the UK who has been parachuted in at the expense of our experienced local labour MP who has donee a great job for years.

GrumpyOldBag · 01/06/2017 10:10

MaisyPops you sound a lot like me. Good luck in your election, hope you get the result you want.

noblegiraffe · 01/06/2017 10:37

Angus Robertson is the leader of the SNP in the House of Commons.

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2017 10:44

I don't think the SAS would take kindly to being equated with Mossad.......

rollonthesummer · 01/06/2017 10:46

Can any sturgeon supporters suggest why she also 'couldn't be bothered'?

Because she isn't the leader of the SNP in the Commons!

MaisyPops · 01/06/2017 11:01

Can any sturgeon supporters suggest why she also 'couldn't be bothered'
Because (to state the obvious!) it is a WESTMINSTER election and she's not a Westminster candidate.

WorldsacpeLove · 01/06/2017 11:17

@BertrandRussell You are still avoiding the question...

No surprises there.

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2017 11:23

I am not avoiding the question. I am refusing to answer a question which equates the SAS to Mossad.

MsHooliesCardigan · 01/06/2017 11:24

I agree that Caroline Lucas was impressive. My understanding is that there is usually a swing back towards the party in power towards the end of a campaign. I've no doubt the Tories will win but at least TM has been given a bit of a fright and I don't think she will get anything like the majority she was hoping for. Which does make you wonder what the point of this was.

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2017 11:32

This is the reply I gave earlier in case you missed it "The problem with things like that is that you will say he laid a wreath on the grave of Atef Bseiso. He says he was laying a wreath for victims of Mossad. How can anyone know which it was? Reason suggests that he would not lay a wreath on the grave of someone who carried out the Munich bombings..."

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 11:37

But, the result was a very visual display of how a coalition will not work

I'm sure a coalition would be better for the country than the Conservatives.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 01/06/2017 11:40

But, the result was a very visual display of how a coalition will not work

What does that mean?

BertrandRussell · 01/06/2017 11:41

The end result was a very good illustration of why a 7 way debate was never going to get anywhere. The Chair did her best, but it was a completely impossible task.

Why anyone thinks it bore any relation to a coalition government completely escapes me.........

Orlantina · 01/06/2017 11:43

I really think we should just have Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn together.

Not one after the other. Together facing the audience. Then facing each other.

noblegiraffe · 01/06/2017 11:45

Rudd and Nuttall wouldn't be in the coalition. Plenty more agreement without them around.

makeourfuture · 01/06/2017 11:48

Maybe May doesn't fancy Jeremy's body.

At least it turned up.
