He believed that the AIA wouldn't do anything to bring peace, and he was right So it would have been better without it? I don't think so, which, it could be said, is proven by the fact that Thatcher regretted signing it as well.
He voted in favour of the Good Friday Agreement, and that didn't hand the IRA a victory. No it didn't and that is because by then The IRA approached the British Government to bring about peace. The IRA and the Irish government wanted the UK government to encourage the loyalist to join a united Ireland. The UK government refused. It would be for the people of Northern Ireland to decide their own future. In so far as it can be called a victory, the UK was not cowered (as the IRA tried ) and the democratically expressed will of the people was respected. The terrorists failed to achieve their aims. That is a matter of historical record not opinion. So no, of course it didn't..
At some point in the future and because of Brexit (what else?) the reunification of Ireland will happen. Well that will be a pretty long way off in the future because the latest poll in Eire was 51% for reunification. But only 22% in Ulster. But by then, we might be in the grip of a Killer Bee invasion which could be put down to the resonance of Brexit as well.
This is all ancient history now but what makes my wee boil is that Corbyn's now pretending that he had his fingers crossed behind his back the whole time he took the stage with Sinn Fein down the years in the hope of bringing about peace talks (though everyone involved agrees he had NO part to play) but he never got the time to share any stage with Unionists. How many of them did he talk to in his quest for peace in NI? Did any of them get an invited to London for a cup of tea? And did he ever speak up the for good, brave men in the Nationalist SDLP who were being firebombed out of their homes by his kneecapping chums?
He's now saying he DID meet former prisoners who were convicted of IRA atrocities but (he say's) they claim they were never members of the IRA. Does he seriously expect us to believe that in The Maze Prison during the 80's and 90's people were serving their sentences on a Provo wing without actually being Provos?
The people who live of NI are the only ones who opinions count, and they don't want to be handed over to the psychopathic murderers who've killed 644 civilians. 272 police and 656 military and Corbyn supported that. He should be behind bars not standing in an election.
Oh and he's also a proven liar, as he proved in his A. Neil interview.
And I'm not even going near the fact that he called the Hamas terrorists - his friends.
