To feel the faint stirrings of hope of a Labour victory?

Just that really? We all thought it was a done deal, T May was going to win by a landslide and we'd be crippled by another 5 years of Tory rule.

Fast forward a few weeks and a Labour victory doesn't seem like such a long shot.

AIBU to feel optimistic that Labour genuinely have a fighting chance? At the very, very least it might result in no overall majority, but the ultimate dream of a Labour govt, run by a true socialist isn't as impossible as previously though.

I'm convinced Theresa May is going for a hard Brexit because she doesn't trust her own negotiating skills with the EU27.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:13

Neither does hiding under a rock like May did. Though that doesn't seem to bother anyone.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 21:14

Neither does hiding under a rock like May did.

Tiny difference. May wasn't leader of the party. Corbyn was.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:16

I still don't understand why you are quibbling about what happened during the campaign (what about that bus then?)

Surely what matters now, right now, is how brexit is carried out.

My disbelief is that you can go from wanting to remain in the eu, to voting for the party that is going for a hard brexit like no other.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:23

I do think JC will be and for the economy and a pushover in the negotiations.

I've seen Dianne Abbot and him fluffing the simplest of interviews, and quite frankly i didn't bond with him over jam.

As for respected opposition, I don't know if I agree with you on the term.

I don't see staying in EU featured in his manifesto, as opposed to the council tax re -consideration, so no it's not working for me.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:25

I'm quibbling over the ref campaign because a real stay campaign from Labour might have stopped the Brexit madness.

Dawndonnaagain · 01/06/2017 21:26

Corbyn hasn't been a pushover in the interviews, thus far.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:26

ChardonnaysPrettySister well ok then.....

Ignore the whole 'what will happen if we do brexit' that both the Tory and Labour Party have put before you.

(Anyone else figuring out that she isn't really a remainer yet? Grin)

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:27

You can do an advanced search, Arse.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:27

The woman's hour one? that was a bit of a disaster.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:27

Oh please, you don't care about the brexit madness.

A vote for the Tory party is a vote for the hardest brexit.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:30

I do care about brexit. But i'm disappointed JC as a Labour leader at the time didn't campaign enough for it.

Look, Arse, people's motives aren't back and white.

Handsup · 01/06/2017 21:32

That's right Arse. Although a devout remainer I fully intend to vote against the party who insists a deal of mutual interest for Britain and the EU is priority.
I'm also quite content in walking away from the EU and quite possibly trashing our economy in the process.
What exactly don't you get?

Killdora · 01/06/2017 21:37

I imagine she doesn't get that.

I don't either, it makes no fucking sense, and I voted for leave!

This is quite funny, I thought all remainders had carefully thought out their arguments, done the sums and were fairly intelligent etc.

Yet here are two on this very thread, that are now completely happy with a no deal financial fuck up the Tory's are offering.

And not guaranteeing rights of eu citizens. And happy tM is annoying the eu and is about as scary as a gnat to them

It makes no sense. Really, none.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:38

Thank fuck it's not just me. Grin

Livelovebehappy · 01/06/2017 21:39

The Polls are saying the margin is narrowing between the Tories and Labour, but don't forget how wrong the polls were on Brexit and Trump. I really think the polls are again giving false hope to Labourites, and I predict a huge loss for Labour. I think Labour supporters are clutching at straws. I really hope so as the thought of Corbyn in number 10 on June 8th makes me feel sick to my stomach and is a terrifying prospect. Our country would be well and truly screwed.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:41

I imagine she doesn't get that.

Who is she, the cat's mother?

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:41

Well, I do have a cat. So I guess that's technically correct.

Killdora · 01/06/2017 21:42

Yeah, the cats mother. See ^

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 21:43

Just because we disagree on JC doesn't mean we can't be polite to each other.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 01/06/2017 21:45

The Polls are saying the margin is narrowing between the Tories and Labour

Still between 3-12 points depending which poll which could be 30-90 ish seats.

ArseOfInfinity · 01/06/2017 21:45

I didn't mean to be impolite ChardonnaysPrettySister

I was going for 'incredulous' Grin

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/06/2017 21:51

Tiny difference. May wasn't leader of the party. Corbyn was.

Corbyn wasnt the leader of the Remain Camp or the Labour In camp

Louisianna16 · 01/06/2017 22:10

The most terrifying thing is that it wouldn't be another 5 years. May has been very clear that she will change boundaries and voting requirements (having to produce a passport to vote etc) to ensure that no other party gets a look in.

I know that this was a while back christina rosetti, but where on earth do people get their false information from that they repeat so confidently?.

May can't just "decide" to change boundaries for political reasons, no politician can.

This is done by the Boundary Commission, who are an independent + impartial body. The law says boundaries have to be reviewed periodically, due to demographic changes and other administrative reasons. The 2018 review is one of those times. Nothing to do with wishes of politicians.
