"UK home to 23,000 Jihadis"

This is the title from a Times article today. Bloody hell. This is a shockingly high number. I find this really scary. There really needs to be some major plan rather than just more waffle from this useless Government. I just don't see how this genie can be put back in the bottle and I think things will only get worse.

I'm just as concerned with the 6 per cent or so that sympathised with the 2005 bombings as that is something like 100,000.

How much extremism is peddled from this 100k into communities? Because this gives rise to the jihadis.

It's a bit bloody depressing. This is now normal

LuluJakey1 · 27/05/2017 21:32

Excuse me - I am a member of the right on brigade. 23,000 Jihadis are entitled to their views and we should not be criticising them or tracking them or arresting them.mWe are invading their human rights. Don't you know that?
That is why the government does sweet FA about them other than know they exist.

GypsieRoseLee · 27/05/2017 21:32

I see that one of my posts has been deleted. I have a two year old daughter. Thankfully she is not at an age where she can attend concerts, but my neices and nephew are. It seems very apparent to me that political correctness and doing whatever it takes to avoid offending members of the muslim community is more important than protecting our children. At the end of the day there are many muslims in this country who support ISIS and, as I see it, they are a direct threat to us and our children. It is clear though that it, based on the views expressed here and those of MNHQ, that it is far more important not to dare offend any members of the muslim community and to maintain strict political correctness than to protect ourselves and more importantly our children. I expect this post to be deleted shortly due to people reporting me.

The talk of banning certain kinds of preachers is interesting. I think this would probably drive things underground and make it harder for intelligence to get involved, which is perhaps why there hasn't been any kind of move toward it.

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 21:41

At the end of the day there are many muslims in this country who support ISIS and, as I see it, they are a direct threat to us and our children

So what do you suggest is done then?

Leanback · 27/05/2017 21:43

orlantia she wants all people with Muslim sounding names banned from public events.

yellowox · 27/05/2017 21:43

The old testament isn't considered the literal word of God in Christianity neither is the new also the perfect example of all time in Islam is a warlord who kept sex slaves pillaged and killed people for disagreeing with him. Jihadism is the most right wing ideology ever they want to kill people who don't believe or fit into their warped idea of what is holy. I don't know why people defend it

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 21:43

23,000 Jihadis are entitled to their views and we should not be criticising them or tracking them or arresting them

Arresting people because they are on a list?

Do you know the history of 'lists'? and people being arrested and jailed for being on a list?

Argentina
Iraq
Nazi occupied Europe
The Soviet Union

Most dictatorships through history...

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 21:45

Maybe I don't like my neighbour? I could ring MI5 and then he'd be on a list. Jailed. Disappeared. Who needs evidence and a trial?

We could have secret courts. Sure there are some countries we could copy.

woodhill · 27/05/2017 21:46

Also the bible not encourages us to love our enemies etc and to do good to those who are nasty to us.

It is very difficult to understand this hate filled ideology. I know it's not mainstream Islam.

GypsieRoseLee · 27/05/2017 21:47

Leanback Yes at the moment I do! I think we are in considerable danger from members of the muslim community who support ISIS and I think as a temporary measure, that we should do this.

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 21:47

I don't know why people defend it

No one is defending it. Some people are defending the rule of law and the right to a trial.

Stuff that we are lucky to have in this country.

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 21:49

Yes at the moment I do

Sadly, I think you're being serious. Why not just round up every Muslim man between 18 and 50 and put them in a camp just to be on the safe side?

Leanback · 27/05/2017 21:49

woodhill the Quran teaches those things also.

Leanback · 27/05/2017 21:52

gypsie I can't engage with you anymore. Your comments literally make me feel physically sick.

woodhill · 27/05/2017 21:52

So what is going wrong then?

GypsieRoseLee · 27/05/2017 21:58

Lean the feeling is entirely mutual, I refuse to engage with you too.

JFC these "send them back" comments are exactly the reason there cannot be a sensible discussion.

Charlieismydarlin · 27/05/2017 22:12

gypsie i agree. Completely.

If I was a moderate Muslim I would be pretty hacked off, as this isn't exactly making their lives in the Uk easier either.

Charlieismydarlin · 27/05/2017 22:14

people not born in the U.K. who are expressing views of extremism should be deported.

Isn't that common sense?

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 22:14

Ten

I agree gypsie.

To protect this nation these people need to return to their own lands where they can do as they please. This is not Muslim country and we shouldn't cow towing in case they are offended. Let's face it no other country worries about respecting the British way of life & fears offending us.

These people are no more British than I am an alien. Just because they are born here does not make them British at all in my opinion.

//
Are you FUCKING joking?
Again, this, THIS is one of the reasons we can't have a sensible discussion on this topic.

What about a white British Muslim convert Ten when do they stop being British? My friend was without religion until she was 35, she is white, she was born here she is now Muslim. Where does she go to huh?

Fuck me, FUCKING HELL.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 22:25

Want to clarify ^ I don't think anyone of any race, religion or creed who is born here should be deported.
I am in shock at so many of these posts and I'm one of the people who thinks an open discussion needs to be had.
This is xenophobic and racist.

nauticant · 27/05/2017 22:27

If this is about locking up all people having extremist views then we're going to need bigger prisons. Say the Isle of Wight, Anglesey, etc.

If this is about locking up all people having extremist views so long as they're brown or follow Islam then you're looking to turn the UK into a very nasty country.

Charlieismydarlin · 27/05/2017 22:28

I don't think anyone said that, to be fair.

Non-UK jihadis have to be deported, though surely? Unless you feel that it just moves a problem elsewhere which I do get.

UK jihadis? Who are probably second generation? Where the hell do you start with that problem.
