"UK home to 23,000 Jihadis"

This is the title from a Times article today. Bloody hell. This is a shockingly high number. I find this really scary. There really needs to be some major plan rather than just more waffle from this useless Government. I just don't see how this genie can be put back in the bottle and I think things will only get worse.

Race card played again , well done.

Charlieismydarlin · 27/05/2017 22:31

In what way?

We aren't discussing any "race". What race is being discussed here?

ginghambox · 27/05/2017 22:34

I am in shock at so many of these posts and I'm one of the people who thinks an open discussion needs to be had.
This is xenophobic and racist.

Charlieismydarlin · 27/05/2017 22:36

Oh right.

Sorry - thought you said I was being racist.this infuriates me as it is used to shit down any debate.

ComingUpTrumps · 27/05/2017 22:38

blankface I agree 100% with your comments here. It reminds me of the difference between Daesh and ISIS - I think Daesh is a much better choice, partly because ISIS suggests that its members have already successfully established the caliphate that they'd like to create and partly because Daesh is apparently similar to the Arabic word for 'step on' or 'trample on', which suggests crushing and destabilising the group rather than enabling and empowering them.

lostincumbria · 27/05/2017 22:41

You can tell a lot by people's use of political correctness. Essentially, blaming PC means you think the security services were scared of investigating/arresting the bomber because they'd be accused of racism?

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 22:41

I'm not shutting down any debate, I agree often people throw out "RACIST" to shut down any discussion regarding uncomfortable topics but ten's post is vile and if you have heard the "Islam isn't a race" (yes, yes I know) card once to justify deporting MENA people then you've heard it a thousand times.

I don't want the discussion shut down, I want more people involved but do you really think you can start throwing around that people are less British than aliens? Ffs. It's so dangerous. It invites the BNP into the conversation with legitimacy.

lostincumbria · 27/05/2017 22:42

I prefer The Last Leg's term for them - Cystitis.

toffeeboffin · 27/05/2017 22:44

It starts with education.

And let's face it, not bending over backwards to accommodate values that we don't agree with.

The UK had been far too tolerant for far too long. I fear there is now way back.

SuperBeagle · 27/05/2017 22:47

Too many 'jihadis' are people working for fuck all when they are clever and hardworking, in one of the riches nations ever in the history of the world, but are still not paying for food clothes and shelter let alone able to have a family or girlfriend, no wonder they are so fucking resentful, a d easy to radicalise.

Right, welcome to lives of many non-Muslim people in this country. This is not the reason.

Intolerance in this country now means bombing our little girls.

We need to redress the balance.

That doesn't mean anything sinister but it does mean and long and hard and uncomfortable look at how Europe got here. I am neither racist not bigoted. I am deeply concerned, however, that we still cannot have this debate.

Agreed fanjo it's like people are excited they now have a reason to spout their shite and then say "you're too PC!" to cover it up.

I have been on here saying, YES there must be a conversation, YES something isn't right somewhere and there needs to be an open discussion but Jesus there's such a fine line between having a discussion about such a sensitive topic and allowing wankers to highjack it and then turn it back to reasonable people (even the people insisting on the conversation) as using the race card. We need to discuss what is going wrong (23,000 is bonkers) but we can't allow BNP and similar types to become the dominant voice in the conversation.

Orlantina · 27/05/2017 22:56

Are they really that mainstream

I worry that they are - and that people would be more than happy to see hard fought human rights being given up in this fight against terrorism.

Once you start giving up some human rights, what happens next?

Because they feel enabled by Brexit Fanjo. Lots of good people voted for Brexit for good reasons. A small number because they are racist. That small number now think 18 million people agree with them. They're wrong, but the echo chambers they find on Facebook and DM comments makes them all tingly inside.

Limer · 27/05/2017 23:00

It's what happened in Rotherham, with police instead of security services, and child rapists instead of bombers.

BeeThirtythree · 27/05/2017 23:01

yellow The very same Quran and Sunnah/Hadith state 'To kill one person, is though you killed the whole of humanity'. In the last sermon given by the prophet Muhammad, it states, We should live in harmony, no black has a right over white, no Arab over a non Arab...that is what most of the 1.6 BILLION Muslims choose to believe in.

These idiots who have built camps, with 'Jihadis' dedicated to finding, and most often misinterpretations, of the Quran, to justify what they do!

There is the argument that the west created Al' Qaeda, for own purposes...so what do we do with the aftermath of that now!
The genie was let out upon the creation of groups like the Taliban.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 27/05/2017 23:02

What if these Jihadists planned and orchestrated one big hit for one planned day? Countrywide?

How would we cope? Would it only be then that 'something was done'

I've often wondered if they have a plan for this kind of attack.... a bit like 9/11 when it was 4 planes

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 23:03

I think being challenged for saying a community of British born people are less British than aliens is not lefty/PC, I think it's more than fair.
