Agreed.
Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.

God bless The Queen and her kind heart #StayStrongManchester

So basically he said that Ariana Grande should have stayed to meet the victims?

Fucking hell. I can't imagine what Ariana must be going through after what happened.

But no. Piers Morgan has to make his point.

OP posts:
CoolCarrie · 25/05/2017 22:32

I feel sorry for her, she must be in shock and unfortunately her name will be linked with this horror forever. Morgan is a total tit

HelenaDove · 25/05/2017 22:33

What is behind Piers Morgans attempt to question Arianas reaction to this attack is his own misogyny.

StrangeLookingParasite · 25/05/2017 22:33

Did they tell off the band for not hanging around after after the Bataclan attack?
I got fairly annoyed with the main twat from EODM for spouting a lot of ugly garbage about the venue staff - he wasn't even there.

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 22:33

She is a victim as well and I suspect the last thing any of the people in hospital want us to be visited by her. Jesus it could trigger ptsd

Highalert · 25/05/2017 22:36

Of course she's in shock and fucking traumatised. Anyone who doesn't get that must be a bit thick

Elendon · 25/05/2017 22:37

Morgan is a shit and those who agree with him are also shits. Simple.

dontbesillyhenry · 25/05/2017 22:37

She's probably utterly traumatised. If I or my kids had been there we would have got in a car and got the hell away and home as quick as possible. Why shouldn't see? She will probably be in the pits of despair right now, not only is she feeling the burden of her fans being killed she is being criticised by the media. I stand with Ariana

JaneEyre70 · 25/05/2017 22:37

To be honest I was quite shocked when I first saw she'd flown home, but then there were photos of her clinging onto a blanket and a soft toy in her hands....and I thought that she's got all of that guilt on her shoulders that those people who died were there to see her. That's something pretty big to carry on very young shoulders. I feel very sorry for her. But she does need to say or do something at some point in future to address her fans. Maybe that is what PM is trying untactfully to say.

coldcanary · 25/05/2017 22:38

He's a fucking vulture who wanted to see her grieving in public, presumably so he could slag her off for using the victims as publicity.
Why do some people demand public grief? Do they get off on seeing others suffer?
Stupid question when it comes to Morgan really...

dontbesillyhenry · 25/05/2017 22:38

But why WOULDNT she want to get the hell home?

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 25/05/2017 22:39

And she may have visited and not publicised it or phoned PM to tell him personally.

I agree with whoever up thread said that if I had gone to a gig and become injured (in what ever manner) I probably wouldn't want to see someone from the band as it would remind me of everything. When I was a lot younger I performed CPR on a man at a sporting event and to this day cannot watch that sport.

elevenclips · 25/05/2017 22:40

Teresa May and the Queen are in charge of all of us including those in hospital. It was nice for them to visit.

Ariana is a really young star. She had her mum with her at the time. She tweeted that she was broken and she profusely apologised for the terrorist attack which, clearly she did not commit! She will be heavily traumatised by this event for the rest of her life. She isn't British and has gone to her home country, completely understandably. She has offered to pay for funerals apparently. Wtf is the matter with people attacking her? The fucking terrorists did this. They're the only bastards that deserve to be criticised. Everyone else is doing their best.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/05/2017 22:40

The person to take advice from on the right way to act after children are murdered is certainly not the fucking monster who hacked Milly Dowling's phone.

I actually think Grande has acquitted herself well. She has been dignified and private. The Queen is the head of state, it's right she's there. A singer, not so much.

PantPlot · 25/05/2017 22:42

I'm shocked that anyone would agree with his viewpoint on this actually.

The weight of responsibility and guilt that that young woman must feel (through no fault of her own) must be immense. Unimaginable.

But 72 hours later she's expected to meet and greet for the media? Disgusting

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 22:43

Those of who you think she should be there how well would you be able to handle children whose bodies have been disfigured? Would you be able to smile and make polite conversation or would you cry and look on with horror? Now imagine you were looking at the victims of a terrorist arrack you were part of. And where you were targeted.

I'd be a mess in a heap and not giving comfort to anyone

hellomoon · 25/05/2017 22:45

I thought she would've stayed to meet her fans - and put a positive spin on this concert so it's remembered for good reasons?

Or am I missing something?

I try to refrain from making derogatory comments about other people's posts....

But fuck me. I cannot compute the utter idiocy of this poster. Yes. Yes you are indeed missing something.

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 22:47

The queen really was the best person to go and the one who would be most able to be 'normal' whatever that is for the queen Hmm

Plumkettle · 25/05/2017 22:49

I was surprised Ariana Grande didn't take the opportunity to visit her fans either in hospital or at one of the many memorial services.

I think that is very bad from a personal and a PR perspective.

limitedperiodonly please could you confirm if there was a quote fail there.

MidniteScribbler · 25/05/2017 22:50

No she isn't a "girl" but she's not exactly a mature woman either.

Well I am a mature woman, and if I were in her position I would be utterly destroyed.

Look, I'm not even a fan of her and some of the articles I've read about her make her out to be a puffed up little diva, but NO ONE deserves to have this happen to them. Can you really not imagine the complete horror of knowing that people, young children, are dead, just because some lunatic decided to set off a bomb at a concert you were performing at? Those people came to see her, and now some of them are dead, and people really expect her to put on a politician's face and go shake hands?

Really?

Terfing · 25/05/2017 22:50

Poor Ariana, I can't even imagine how she's feeling right now. It is right for her to stay away and let the hospital do their job. Her being there would only complicate things. Sad

user1491572121 · 25/05/2017 22:53

He doesn't deserve comment really. How dare he say that!? She's so young still and she's blaming herself and as someone else said, she's also a victim.

She will of course contact or meet as many of those kids as she can. She's well known for her devotion to her fans.

coldcanary · 25/05/2017 22:58

I'm wondering if one of the reasons she went home (apart from the very obvious trauma) was that she was possibly advised to leave, her concert was targeted so from a security point of view the police might have not actually wanted her to stay in the area. Also considering they didn't know how many people were involved at the time she might have been targeted personally by other terrorists.

MommaGee · 25/05/2017 23:11

I was surprised Ariana Grande didn't take the opportunity to visit her fans either in hospital or at one of the many memorial services. I think that is very bad from a personal and a PR perspactive yeah cost if someone gives you a terrorist attack at your gig, a true proffrsional turns it into record sales! Its just like lemons and lemonade!!

I think it is great of the Queen to visit people. I know people might have wanted to see Kate or William and Harry because they are so popular - if I was in hospital I'd probably want Harry at my bedside [wink} but her visit was really important. so your best friend is dead, your facing months of rehab, you may never truly get over the horror of the attack but phoar o wonder if Harry does bed baths.

Do you realise people DIED? Children. Parents. Sisters and brothers. This isn't a publicity stunt or a chance to snog a royal

RhythmAndStealth · 25/05/2017 23:12

Well, she's likely traumatized. And I would have thought a visit from hercould be very triggering for some of the injured- bring back awful traumatic memories. I think she's been pretty dignified, and hasn't made it all about her. She is also obviously distraught.

One of the things that struck me about the attack was that it was so obviously aimed at young women and girls. That it was making a statement about how women should live, and that they should be harshly punished if the transgress.

Making the point that they shouldn't be out enjoying themselves, they shouldn't have lives where they make choices or have fun or are out and about in the world. That they should be subjected, cloistered, silenced.

And if they step out of line, step out of the house, out of control, they should be punished, by death, disfigurement, dismemberment and mayhem. It was so deeply, deeply misogynistic as well as generally misanthropic. If a female person fails to live up to a male person's expectations, she must be punished. That controlling and punishing women and girls is a sure fire route to heaven for a "righteous" man.

So much about how a certain type of man should have control and power over others. Combined with the total cowardice of picking a soft target.

And here is Piers yet again displaying his own brand of cowardly, attention seeking misogyny. Attacking a distraught young woman who has done nothing wrong, who did nothing to bring this about, who is an absolutely dreadful and vulnerable point in her life, for no reason other that to thrust himself into the spotlight.

Victim blaming, attention seeking, self aggrandising, self righteous, base, cowardly, completely and utter contemptible misogyny.

MoonriseKingdom · 25/05/2017 23:12

Piers Morgan - what a fucking hero. Criticising this poor young woman. She sounds distraught. What if she had gone to bedsides and couldn't hold it together? She needs to be in a safe place. She may find it hard to perform live again for some time. I am not surprised Piers Morgan said that but surprised at the people on here agreeing with him.
