Piers Morgan Retweeted KATY PERRY
Agreed.
Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.

God bless The Queen and her kind heart #StayStrongManchester

So basically he said that Ariana Grande should have stayed to meet the victims?

Fucking hell. I can't imagine what Ariana must be going through after what happened.

But no. Piers Morgan has to make his point.

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:10

He has spent the entire week trying to make everything about him.

His faux concern about who is visiting the hospital etc is self serving publicity seeking bollocks.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:11

I hate Katie Hopkins but at least she doesn't dress her nasty comments up as anything they aren't. Morgan is a Trump-loving arsehole who talks shit.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 13:12

He has a legal right, maybe, but he also has a moral obligation to abstain from publicly vilifying someone who is going through such a horrendous experience.

Lweji · 26/05/2017 13:13

in this instance he's giving his opinion like many on here are...which he has a right to do

Yes, he has that right. It's just a pretty awful opinion.

Agree. And others have the right to point out that it's an awful opinion. And to share their opinion about him too. Grin

In practical terms, people are in different hospitals, Ariana would need permission from the hospitals, the patients or their relatives.
Unless specifically requested by patients, through the hospital, or whatever, I don't think Ariana should have the initiative to visit them. Or even have the presumption that she's so important to them that they'd want her visit.

I am pretty confident that people like Piers would criticise her if she visited.

The Queen and the PM have visited because they are head of state and head of government. They visited because of the position they hold.

Anyone else is free from that obligation.

As above, I might only agree with him if Ariana had refused a request from a badly injured young person.

MommaGee · 26/05/2017 13:15

So she is directly related to this as is every victim of the attack - and there all entitled to be traumatised but not her?

Yet she issued one casual tweet in immediate aftermath and clearly was in shock how do you define a casual tweet? I wouldn't say a tweet sent in shock and grief is casual. Just like the "casual" text about cancelling her other concerts. How do you know it was casually done not something she feels sick eoyh guilt over. As for a day before, she's hardly to blame for a lack of notice given it was a terrorist attack! Tbh who would think for a minute that the subsequent gigs would go ahead?? If I had a teenager saying is she still coming to X I'd be explaining no, she'll nerd yo cancel because she and thousands of other people have been through a terrible thing and sometimes the show can't just go on.

She doesbt have to be emotionally resilient, good in trauma and pressure, ready to fight on regardless. She's a pop star. Nothing more than a girl who can sing.
The Queen is trained and experienced to go visit sick people and make them smile. She's not having flash backs of the noise, the screams, that what ifs given her mom was in the audience

MommaGee · 26/05/2017 13:20

An international pop star who travels the world etc...she should be more mature than most people her age
More mature than the 22 yo on here working in emergency services? Or the parents on here responsible for another life? Or the soldiers and policemen get age and younger on our streets? Because she's flown to some big towns and sung songs on a stage? Really??

mollyminniemo · 26/05/2017 13:22

Disagree wiotrh you completely Lweji. In terms of ehr going to different hospitals- this would be sorted out/confirmed within a metter of hours- she has multiple assistants/team around her who sort far more complex things out daily.
Queen has visited because she head of state etc- Ariana- should visit because she is the reason these people came to a specific venue that was targeted specifically as it was her concert- and ended up in hospital or worse. Many young fans are still (very naively IMO) wearing her t shirt in their hospital bed- a visit from someone they put on a pedestal like their own Queen would literally make their year- nothing excuses her distance from this at all.

NoLoveofMine · 26/05/2017 13:24

Ariana- should visit because she is the reason these people came to a specific venue that was targeted specifically as it was her concert- and ended up in hospital or worse.

I'm not keen on this statement; she's the reason they attended the concert (clearly) but is in no way responsible for what happened.

StillaChocoholic · 26/05/2017 13:27

Molly it really seems like you are blaming her for what happened.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:30

If she has visited it would have looked like self promotion- best to leave that to the hoards of 'celebs' like PM to use it to cash in

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 26/05/2017 13:30

molly

Errr you do realise that we are in the middle of an active terrorist situation do you honestly think special branch and MI5 would allow her to visit???

The sheer thick ignorance on this thread is mind boggling

meettherussians · 26/05/2017 13:31

That’s the thing as mollyminnie She has distanced herself in every way-physically, verbally, visually as if she is not relating to it anymore and wasn’t directly involved. That’s what’s disappointing and shocking.
Popstars of this level of fame grow up overnight- she’s not just a singer, she’s a savvy, commercially minded businesswoman – who knows exactly how to craft and exploit her public profile, Instagram account for her gain- yet now when a lot of fans caught up in this would most likely love a message or post aimed at them (at the VERY least…come ON!)- shes stepped away.

I’m sure shes shaken up by this. But being “shaken up” while still able to jet out of the country directly afterwards- fit, healthy, rich, beautiful and ALIVE- makes her very fortunate- in comparison to the victims of this attack who are psychologically traumatised by actually witnessing the attack/victims first hand- as well as being injured. What a burden they bare. Ariana in comparison experienced none of this. She should buck up and get her act together, this has been appallingly handled.

Montsti · 26/05/2017 13:36

She hasn't just flown to some big towns and sung some songs on stage though, has she?

She has been in showbiz since she was a child and performed to tens of thousands of people, performances on SNL, live interviews etc... & mixed with much older people so she undoubtedly has more life experience than your "average" 23 year old..she is not a sheltered, innocent baby by all means...

I am, however not suggesting that she was obliged to stay in the UK and visit the victims of this terrible tragedy...I just don't think her age should come into it...I would expect anyone to be deeply traumatized by what had happened...

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 26/05/2017 13:36

God what nasty spiteful posts

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 13:37

a visit from someone they put on a pedestal like their own Queen would literally make their year

Hmm where to start?

As I said in my deleted post, if she had visited it would have brought little or no comfort, yet had the potential to cause a huge amount of pain. These children need to rest, not to be visited by pop stars, and especially not ones who are pretty traumatised themselves.

Lweji · 26/05/2017 13:38

I'm sure the hospitals would greatly appreciate having another circus to deal with in addition to the Queen and the PM.

AtlantaGinandTonic · 26/05/2017 13:40

I would unfollow him, personally. I couldn't stand to have such vile rants cluttering up my feed. Besides, if he was back at his old job he'd probably be hacking into all the victims' mobiles. Eurgh.

meettherussians · 26/05/2017 13:42

Sorry but you are so wrong. These kids are still wearing t-shirts with her face on it. They ADORE her. Of course a visit would be welcome and make them hugely happy, such a bizarre thing to say.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 13:43

More complex than the aftermath of a terrorist attack? Really?

MsHooliesCardigan · 26/05/2017 13:48

I don't think how old she is is relevant. Survivor guilt is a very real thing and it must be magnified for her because the fact is that, while she's completely innocent, those people would still be alive if they hadn't come to see her. I don't know if I could ever come to terms with that no matter how much I tried to reason with myself that I'd done nothing wrong.
The 97th victim of Hillsborough was a man who couldn't go to the match and gave his ticket to a friend who was killed. The man who bought the ticket took his own life many years later.
Piers Morgan is a detestable cunt.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:52

Given that there have been plenty of women twice her age (and with no connection to the city or the attack) who profess to having been unable to function/go out etc, it seems very mean spirited to be tearing apart a young woman who probably feels guilty amongst other things.

And it appears it's not just that twat Morgan who is doing this. Nice Hmm

MooMooCat · 26/05/2017 13:53

this
She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

NoLoveofMine · 26/05/2017 13:54

Not sure I understand why you targeted this at women specifically. I've heard women and men talk of being extremely upset by it and doubting whether to go to certain events.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:54

Personally I wouldn't feel right berating her - and frankly the day you agree with PM, you probably need to give your head a wobble

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 26/05/2017 13:57

Okay PEOPLE then - I'm going partially by posts on here which were done by women but I have only heard women say it outside of MN.
