Agreed.
Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.

God bless The Queen and her kind heart #StayStrongManchester

So basically he said that Ariana Grande should have stayed to meet the victims?

Fucking hell. I can't imagine what Ariana must be going through after what happened.

But no. Piers Morgan has to make his point.

Bit*

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 12:22

Perhaps those berating Ariana Grande, who lets face it has had to deal with more trauma from the atrocity than any of them, might also have been afforded a little kindness.

bakewelltarty · 26/05/2017 12:28

I've just come back to this thread and see that some posters have totally misunderstood what I said.

To clarify, I pointed out straight away that I do NOT know what she should have done after the tragedy. I did NOT state that she should have gone to the hospital to visit the injured.

I also do NOT believe that she was responsible for the appalling actions of a terrorist!!!!

I DID point out that she is not a child. Apparently because I was married with a child at that age that make me 'superior'. Hmm

It's shocking that some people are so entrenched in their own opinions that they read whatever it is they want into a post without reading it properly.

Resorting to name calling and statements of 'thick' posters says it all really.

Fliptophead · 26/05/2017 12:28

MaybeNextWeek

They're abusing a victim of violent recent tragedy for not being better at dealing with it. No, sorry, thick is the nicest thing you can say

MaybeNextWeek · 26/05/2017 12:31

'Resorting to name calling and statements of 'thick' posters says it all really.'

Exactly.

bakewelltarty · 26/05/2017 12:32

I have read the whole thread.

No one has abused Ariana on here. Some have a different opinion to you.

You deal with that by accusing people of being thick and accuse them of abuse.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 26/05/2017 12:33

What does it say?

sashh · 26/05/2017 12:34

If this had happened 5 years ago he would be too busy hacking the victims' phones to tweet.

Yes it's twatish, no it's not a new low.

MaybeNextWeek · 26/05/2017 12:36

'They're abusing a victim of violent recent tragedy for not being better at dealing with it. No, sorry, thick is the nicest thing you can say'

Ok, well if anyone is 'abusing a victim' they too should be ashamed of themselves. All I've read is measured posts like:

'don't think she was obliged to, I just think it would have been a nice thing to do and I'm surprised and disappointed she didn't'

Apologies if I missed the 'abusive' ones. Can you c&p or were they deleted?

histinyhandsarefrozen · 26/05/2017 12:40

I don't think she has been abused here, has she? Maybe she has been on Twitter. She has been criticized and she has been defended. I think the people who criticize her for this are a bit thick.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 12:43

She is in a protected little bubble and it looks like that bubble took over and whisked her off with little regard for what they were leaving behind.

I wouldn't describe that as abuse, but it's a pretty shit thing to say.

mollyminniemo · 26/05/2017 12:47

I completely agree with him. There are at least 22 people dead, probably more, so many still seriously injured in hospital- not to mention grieving families around Manchester, from an incident at her concert. So she is directly related to this.

Yet she issued one casual tweet in immediate aftermath and clearly was in shock- this was all still fine. However since then- she jetted off from the UK and left 10000s of other fans in complete limbo before causally announcing a day before her other UK gigs were cancelled. She's issued no other official statement- expressing her sympathy, apologies/sadness. She has not returned to the UK to visit those in hospital as the lovely Queen has done.

Instead we have had-IMO- incredibly tasteless publicity hungry statements from her team- eagerly announcing in posts littered with exclamation marks that "Ariana will be paying for the victims funerals!!" Like, yay! How amazingly kind of her.
Her Instagarm has just one post captioned "stay strong" and has 10000s of posts from her adoring fans expressing their sympathy and love for Ariana, yet not the poor victims. Its sickening.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 12:49

FFS just reread one of my posts. It should have read:

Perhaps those berating Ariana Grande, who lets face it has had to deal with more trauma from the atrocity than any of them, might have afforded her a little kindness.

MaybeNextWeek · 26/05/2017 12:50

'I wouldn't describe that as abuse, but it's a pretty shit thing to say.'

No it isn't abuse by a long shot. It's an opinion you don't agree with. 'Completely fucking thick' however is very unpleasant when directed at other mn posters don't you think?

TrinityTaylor · 26/05/2017 12:51

God sake. Her own mum was in the arena and gathered a load of kids up and took them backstage (assuming she had some sort of special electronic pass/code) in the panic where they then made sure they got to safety. What was she supposed to do, go outside the venue and ask all the panicked kids and parents if they wanted an autograph??!

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/05/2017 12:51

Did he go after the Eagles of death Metal when they left the Bataclan after the attack there?

Not only were they out of the building very quickly, so didn't see most of it, the lead singer then went on to say the venue staff were in on it. I have no time for him, or them any more. He's also an unrepentant gun nut.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/05/2017 12:51

don't think she was obliged to, I just think it would have been a nice thing to do and I'm surprised and disappointed she didn't

It what possible way would it have been a "nice thing to do"? Seriously?

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 26/05/2017 12:55

I am 22 and work in the emergency services. I have been trained to deal with traumatic, distressing and horrific situations. Despite that, I don't know what the hell I'd do in Ariana's situation. I'm not sure any of us can say for certain what we'd do. I don't blame Ariana for leaving at all. I'm sure she'll make plenty of visits once she's recovered. One of the things stressed to us a lot in our training is the importance of getting time, support and distance after distressing and traumatic incidents, rather than pushing through and pretending it hasn't happened.

MaybeNextWeek · 26/05/2017 12:56

'It what possible way would it have been a "nice thing to do'

In the same way the queen visited and it was a nice thing to do, boosts morale etc, yes she wasn't at the venue so wouldn't have been traumatised but still with support perhaps ariana could have visited her fans shown solidarity, support and encouragement? not sure why people are being called thick for suggesting it.

Montsti · 26/05/2017 13:03

Fwiw I'm not a fan of Piers Morgan but, in this instance he's giving his opinion like many on here are...which he has a right to do...he's a journalist - journalists of all persuasions give their opinion on things on a daily basis...

Whether Ariana Grande should've visited the injured victims is debatable. She was obviously too traumatized to do so which is completely understandable so she did the right thing for herself. She is not a baby though, that's for sure. An international pop star who travels the world etc...she should be more mature than most people her age...so personally I don't think her age is a factor rather her state of mind at the time which clearly meant she had/wanted to go home which is fair enough.

Having seen the coverage of The Queen visiting the victims, I disagree that it would've been inappropriate for her to visit her fans in hospital as I would assume (that's all we can do) the vast majority would've been uplifted to see her...

What upsets me most about this thread though, as per many threads at the moment on this site is the disgusting language and vitriol towards anyone that doesn't agree with the majority's opinion. Accusing people of being "thick" & being a "c**t" is not only a complete overreaction but is quite frankly displaying a lack of education & completely unacceptable.

NoLoveofMine · 26/05/2017 13:03

The Queen did it because she's the Head of State and was obliged to (not saying she'd not have wanted to but it's part of her official role).

Ariana Grande is a young woman who's had to deal with her tour being cut short and fans at her concert being targeted. She is not a political figure and wanted nothing more than to entertain her fans and give them a wonderful night, which they should have had. She is clearly upset by what happened and probably feels awful about it. It's pretty unpleasant for anyone to have a go at her on this.

Orlantina · 26/05/2017 13:05

in this instance he's giving his opinion like many on here are...which he has a right to do

Yes, he has that right. It's just a pretty awful opinion.

OP posts:
NoLoveofMine · 26/05/2017 13:06

Also by "had to deal with" I absolutely don't mean to compare that with what the people (largely children) at the concert have had to deal with, let alone those injured and even more so the families of those killed. I just mean it's also doubtless been difficult for her.

Orlantina · 26/05/2017 13:06

Please. Plenty of people attack others over their opinion. People in a minority view are just as capable of others of attacking people who disagree.
