I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

But it's abundantly clear that the people who indulge in this literally relish every word she has said and are delighted she's said it purely because it plays right into their hands

Abundantly clear to you perhaps, so distracted and minimised as you are. Not to the rest of us.

Apologists for the likes of La Hopkins make me sick. Take your copy of the Daily Mail and wipe your arse with it.

surferjet · 23/05/2017 12:29

Today, our thoughts should be with the victims of this absolute tragedy. My heart goes out to the young innocent victims & their families.
What someone said on twitter shouldn't even register at the moment.

nauticant · 23/05/2017 12:30

I think if there was a riot in Manchester this afternoon and 22 Muslims were killed half of you would be rubbing your hands in glee because you felt morally vindicated. But as usual it won't happen, sorry to disappoint you.

This is really nasty stuff.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 12:30

Can't you cope with more than one thought?

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2017 12:31

"Bert I'd also call the thread you started after the Westminster attack an example of it, where you questioned why this atrocity committed by a radicalised muslim was being labelled a terrorist attack when there might be other explanations for it."

That is a complete mischaracterization of that particular thread. As you well know. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story?

mothertruck3r · 23/05/2017 12:32

Well said BillSykesDog. Totally agree.

PumaLeopard · 23/05/2017 12:32

Surfer, today I cried for those children. But hate speech should most certainly register on the radar. It is hate that instigated this barbaric attack. KH knows what she said and its connotations.

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2017 12:33

"I think if there was a riot in Manchester this afternoon and 22 Muslims were killed half of you would be rubbing your hands in glee because you felt morally vindicated. But as usual it won't happen, sorry to disappoint you."

Fuck me. No wonder you don't have an issue with the expression "final solution" .............

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 12:33

Pretty fucking sick, isn't it? See what reading the Daily Hate does to you.

stitchglitched · 23/05/2017 12:36

It's not a mischaracterisation at all. It is what you said.

muffinbluffer · 23/05/2017 12:36

surferjet no one should register a comment made by a public figure condoning the repeat of one of the most horrific periods in recent history? Shall we just shut down our emotions when reading that tweet, or ignore the revulsion and the realisation that all this hate (whoever it is directed at) is linked? That events do not occur in a vacuum and are all related?

I personally do not waste my anger on Hopkins who clearly isn't right and, as someone else pointed out would shrivel and die without publicity. I am however angry at those who pay her a salary and in doing so condone her. But then she is profitable and that matters more to many than decency it seems.

StealthPolarBear · 23/05/2017 12:36

" findingmyfeet12

"Missing children" are probably people who are at hospitals etc but are unnaccounted for.

The word missing is a bit misleading."
If it was my teenager I'd be frantic

likeababyelephant · 23/05/2017 12:37

Hate speech is a crime right?. Why hasn't she been locked up yet?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 23/05/2017 12:40

StealthPolarBear there was a teenager who'd been to the concert with her mum and her mums partner. She'd been around all eight hospitals looking for her and the latest update she still hadn't found her. Poor soul must be terrified.

What a horrible thing to say

"It's not a mischaracterisation at all. It is what you said.,

what I said was how did the police know to call it as terrorist attack within minutes when the perpetrator was a man with a history of appalling (non terrorist) violence, mental health issues and a daughter who had been put in a wheelchair by a hit and run driver.

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a good "liberal bash"!

LornaMumsnet · 23/05/2017 12:49

Hi everyone

Thanks to those who have reported this thread to us.

Our thoughts go out to all the families involved in this terrible explosion.

We appreciate that discussions around such sensitive issues often get heated but we'd like to remind you that Mumsnet is here to make parents' lives easier. While we encourage healthy and robust discussion, we hope that everyone can respect each other in their choices and express their views without resorting to personal attacks or racist remarks.

Please do report any posts that concern you.

innurendo · 23/05/2017 12:49

I agree Bill.

People are all but stepping over the bodies of the victims to virtue signal, to proclaim their own victimhood and how nasty old daily mail types are to blame for the ills of the world, to the extent they will maximize the grave seriousness of a tweet by an idiot in the face of an unimaginable atrocity against little ones?!

Have some dignity and some respect for the bereaved and the fallen for goodness' sake. If there is some kind of incitement for the police to deal with, then tell them and they can do that, but the klaxon-like virtue signalling as if it's more important than the actual victims is violently emetic to be honest.

stitchglitched · 23/05/2017 12:50

When you started that thread the fact that he had been radicalised was already in the public domain. A quick google first would have told you so. But I guess all that handwringing just couldn't wait.

^THIS.

littlemissangrypants · 23/05/2017 12:51

I am german. The final solution was allowed to happen because people were so full of hate which the media had been building up over a period of time. Germany was piss poor and it was easy to turn germans against the 'rich' jewish people.
Read the papers. Muslims are villified. They are all held responsible for terrorist attacks and council house stealing/ benefit stealing. Hatred is building. People today are calling for muslims to get hurt. Read facebook and you will find americans talking about murdering them all to keep good christians safe. Plenty of sane people want muslims gone.
Now we have open calls for a final solution. Katie Hopkins wont be the last to do so. History is going to repeat itself and there are people around that will be cheering all the way just like last time.
Killing other people wont bring back those poor kids just like killing jewish people didn't make germans richer. It made us bloody monsters.

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2017 12:51

"When you started that thread the fact that he had been radicalised was already in the public domain"

No it wasn't. Sorry, I am not going to respond to you again.

ToastDemon · 23/05/2017 12:52

innurendo it is Hopkins who should have done that, instead of using the atrocity as an incitement to genocide.

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2017 12:52

Please will somebody explain how Hopkins is making things better?
