to think it's finally time England deals with its Katy Hopkins problem?

I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

Really charlie? Did ordinary Germans want the Holocaust? - or were they just swept up in a load of fascist rhetoric? Some certainly joined in and cheered on the police rounding Jewish people up. Some were too fearful to stand up against it.

It's a much studied/debated topic - how does a civilised country end up either taking part in, or turning a blind eye to, mass industrialised murder on the basis of religion? But it happened.

There are some very well known first steps to this process- one being the demonising and scapegoating of people for their religion. So yes. I will object to the KH rhetoric of calling immigrants "cockroaches' (a word actually used by the Nazis to describe Jews) and calling for a "final solution". I can object to KH's hate speech, and still be angry about the radicalised terrorist who murdered 22 people. You understand that don't you? It's not either/or.

JanetBrown2015 · 25/05/2017 07:35

The people to blame are those who bomb others.

Fliptophead · 25/05/2017 07:42

I'm going to write this so anyone can understand (even Charlie).

Katie Hopkins is not responsible for the Manchester bombing. The bomber is and whomever he was working working with. Yes? Good.

We're all together so far.

What Katie Hopkins is responsible for is making a comment about genoocide. Now the last time the Final a solution was brought up it was regarding killing all followers of a certain religion. So most people have taken that to mean what it quite literally means.

So Katy Hopkins should lose her job because she's a disgusting human and potentially be prosecuted as hate speech is illegal.

see, two seperate situations and I can be angry about both! For example the men who have been arrested in connection with the bombing I would also hope would never work again. But I think that goes without saying that they won't. I could start a thread about it.

I'll just say it here. I really hope anyone connected with the Manchester bombing is arrested and never works again. Weirdly most people didn't say that because they were clever enough to know it didn't need saying. The police would make sure of it. Kh on the other hand it did need mentioning.

I also think any fundamentalist clerics spotting hate should be arrested and put in jail. I don't think they should be "sent back" as that's just giving them an opportunity to be trained and for us to not know where the fuck they are. And would be stupid. Also for British born territorist you can't really send them back to Milton Keynes.

Thank you Janet for your words of wisdom. I never thought about it that way! Grin

What we want is for extremists, living in the country, now to be dealt with

See, the problem is that then you should deal with ALL extremists. Muslim or not.
But you just mean Muslim, don't you?

You don't care about far-right extremists attacking Muslims at all. Or do you?

Edsheeranalbumparty · 25/05/2017 08:07

I have two things to say on this:

  1. KH is an absolutely vile piece of shit. I decided to have a look on her Twitter after it happened and for some weird reason I honestly thought she might choose not to capitalise on what had happened out of respect. Christ how wrong I was, 'final solution', her 'western men' comment, her sickening faux concern for the victims and their families. She obviously saw this as a huge opportunity to further spread her bike and spread it she has. And accusing anyone who is disgusted by what she says as 'not caring about the victims' is just total deflecting bullshit as well.

  2. having read this thread I am stunned, properly stunned at the wide eyed 'whats wrong with saying final solution' posts. Can people really be that thick that they dont know what it means? Honestly, if this is actually the case, then we are fucked. There is literally no excuse for a grown adult not to know the meaning of the that phrase. None.

THIS. Germany. Rwanda. The Balkans.

nauticant · 25/05/2017 08:20

There are people who want to believe propaganda though and for whom hate is a coping mechanism for their own bleak prospects..

That's an understandable reaction. Then there's the people looking to benefit out of it.

22 people had just been killed, KH made a cynical post hinting at genocide for some "others" because it would boost her profile, and people think that in some way this is admirable.

Some people are allowing themselves to be used.

firstcutisthedeepest · 25/05/2017 08:49

This isn't the time to be worrying over kH, she's an arse, we all know it. We should be worrying about what our government is doing to protect us. Theresa May needs to act and fast. There are three thousand on the terrorist watch list. Deport or imprison them. They are living amongst us for goodness sake. Don't talk about it, do it, before it fucking happens again.

user1471545174 · 25/05/2017 08:53

Exactly, firstcutisthedeepest. KH is an unpleasant diversion from the problem, not the cause of it.

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 08:57

This isn't the time to be worrying over kH

Once again. It's possible to do MORE than 1 thing at once.

There are three thousand on the terrorist watch list. Deport or imprison them

Imprison people without charge?

Have you heard of Habeus Corpus?

NotISaidTheWalrus · 25/05/2017 09:05

This isn't the time to be worrying over kH, she's an arse, we all know it. We should be worrying about what our government is doing to protect us

It's a fucking epidemic of extreme single mindedness. Two thoughts at once, your mind must be blown that other people can cope with that.

Deport or imprison them

Deport them to where? Most of them are British. Imprison them for what? On what charge?

ToastDemon · 25/05/2017 09:07

Walrus perhaps we could round them up and put them in camps?
Judging by far too many comments I've seen on here and elsewhere, that would be popular.

firstcutisthedeepest · 25/05/2017 09:10

If that's what it takes orlantina yes, without charge. If they are known to have terrorist links damn right, and i don't give a fuck about their human rights. The fuckers want to kill us, it'll happen again. What do you suggest we do.
and yes it is possible to discuss other things but let's get our priorities right. KH was hate preaching, these fuckers go beyond even that.

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 09:11

Walrus perhaps we could round them up and put them in camps

Maybe we could put their friends in as well? Relatives? Because they must know?

Or intern all Muslims just in case?

Where do you stop? Because once you start, you start down a slippery slope...and before you know it, people just start disappearing.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 25/05/2017 09:12

I suggest we don't turn into animals who lock up people with no charge, no trial, no rights.

You might want to live in a place more akin to Syria, the rest of us don't.

KH is part of the problem. And so are you.

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 09:12

If that's what it takes orlantina yes, without charge

Please read your history.

We have fought wars and have fought very hard for our freedom not to be jailed without charge.

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 09:13

Once you live in a country where people can be jailed without charge, you live in a dictatorship. A fascist regime.

firstcutisthedeepest · 25/05/2017 09:14

toast what exactly would be wrong with that. noti deport them back to where they're from, if born here imprison without charge or change the law to charge them with being linked to terrorism.

nauticant · 25/05/2017 09:14

Obviously at the moment they'd not want to imprison anyone without charge. Just imprison those that the mob bays to be locked up. With the people who steer the mob urging them to go in this direction because they've got their own enemies and their own agenda.

This is where KH and her fellow travellers want to go. And this is why mentioning the "final solution" isn't simply an accident. It's part of a similar mindset.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 25/05/2017 09:15

Are you on glue?

Do you want to be imprisoned without charge? You could have links to terrorism, or be accused of it. It's not just them that will be at risk.

You're advocating facism. Put down the Daily Mail and read some history.

firstcutisthedeepest · 25/05/2017 09:17

Just let them live amongst them all peaceful like shall we. Btw you read your history, it wasn't long ago we were locking ira suspects up without charge. Were we in a dictatorship then.

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 09:18

if born here imprison without charge or change the law to charge them with being linked to terrorism

What exactly do you think happens now if the police think someone is linked to terrorism?

How would you define 'linked to terrorism'?

Orlantina · 25/05/2017 09:19

Btw you read your history, it wasn't long ago we were locking ira suspects up without charge

If you asked people living in Northern Ireland about that, what reaction do you think you would get?

ToastDemon · 25/05/2017 09:19

firstcut it's what the Nazis did. Those camps didn't start off with gas chambers, they started off as interment camps for Jews, communists and dissenters.

If you'd like to live in a fascist state then by all means you need to support this.
