I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

neither is anyone suggesting we go and hug the jihadis into submission.

Well... Maybe a really tight bear hug. Grin

Islam is an ancient Middle Eastern ideology which we imported to Europe for some bizzare reason.

Like Christianity.

We are with ISIS. But not with Islam.

Not so sure. We certainly are at war with fundamentalist Islam, that's imo obvious. But not with all Muslims, especially not moderate Muslims.

JoshLymanJr · 24/05/2017 19:59

Ban migration from all Islamic countries until we have the situation under control.

Salman Abedi was born in Manchester, Khalid Masood was born in Kent. Exactly what would banning immigration from Islamic countries have done to prevent these attacks, other than angering foreign governments whose help we need?

PlinkyTheFairyWitch · 24/05/2017 20:01

Maybe a really tight bear hug.

A 24/7 one might clinch it Grin

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 24/05/2017 20:04

Oh and those of you who claim not to understand Final Solution - not buying it. Nuhuh. Goady fuckers

Hmm Oh for fuck's sake, we've been over this.

Not a goady fucker, I've been on MN for almost 4 years, I'm very anti-Hopkins and think she's a prick for saying what she said, even before I understood it.

I'm not a goady fucker for saying that I didn't know what Final Solution meant until yesterday.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 24/05/2017 20:06

We are with ISIS. But not with Islam

We aren't at war with anyone.

Have you heard of the Commonwealth? The Empire?
Do you know about immigration in the 50s and 60s?

How do you think Islam spread in the UK? Clue - it wasn't refugees.

JoshLymanJr · 24/05/2017 20:16

There's not one bit of that sentence that isn't wrong...

NotACleverName · 24/05/2017 20:27

Well, that was a bold fail.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 24/05/2017 20:30

is this more of the "well educated" posters?

firstcutisthedeepest · 24/05/2017 20:41

Islam is not more of a problem itself than any other religion
Err ok. Confused

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 24/05/2017 20:42

Give it a rest NotI, you're sounding like a broken record now. If it makes you feel better, I'll stop thinking of myself as educated.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 24/05/2017 20:45

Not me that's broken, it's your education system from the sound of it.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 24/05/2017 20:51

Did I say it wasn't? Hmm We weren't taught anything about World War 2 after Year 3 in primary school. They presumably thought 7 was a bit young to be introducing us to the idea of the Holocaust.

I would much rather have learned about Hitler's Germany in secondary school rather than pirates etc but what can I say? My knowledge of the Holocaust comes from occasional reading, some documentaries and what I've heard others talking about it, none of which has included the words "Final Solution".

If it makes you feel better to insult people based on their education, go for it Hmm

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 20:56

People who aren't sure of the history of our country and the role of our country in other countries and who aren't aware of even the basics of the rise of fascism should spend some time making themselves aware of the basics.

History is repeating itself. You can see it in Trump and what he was saying before he got elected.

Slowly, slowly...Bits of freedoms being taken away and before you know it, you are living in a fascist state.

NotACleverName · 24/05/2017 20:58

There's no excuse for not educating yourself. Google is free, Wikipedia is free.

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 21:02

Education might also help you see when Hopkins is misleading people with her 'facts'.

Especially when she keeps going on about Muslim refugees only coming to the West. When the overwhelming amount stay near their home country.

Still, why let some actual facts get in the way of her opinions?

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 21:03

"I'm not a goady fucker for saying that I didn't know what Final Solution meant until yesterday"

No you're not. Because you, I think uniquely, were outraged when you found out what it meant. Unlike many others, who have been excusing and justifying a person who absolutely, undoubtedly would have known exactly what she was saying.

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 21:04

During the 1980s, there was a documentary series called "The world at war". It's still repeated on Freeview. A massive series. Well worth watching as it documents the rise of the Nazis and the reality of life in Germany.

coconuttella · 24/05/2017 21:04

Charlie

Well what is a final solution?. Ffs, try googling "final solution"... you may have a major gap in your historical knowledge of the Holocaust; I don't for a minute imagine KH does.

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 21:05

Has Hopkins apologised for her tweet? She deleted it. But has she apologised for it?

Lizzylou · 24/05/2017 21:07

The ignorance on this thread is breathtaking.
We asked people from certain areas of the Commonwealth (y'know, those ex colonies that we had taken over because OUR christian faith and "civilised" ways were so much better and we wanted tea, coffee, fags and cotton and a lovely big Empire) to come over to certain areas of the country to fulfil shortages in workers. Locally it was the now Pakistani people to work in cotton mills and driving buses.
This was in the 1950s/60s.
They probably stayed in certain areas so as not to have to mix with ignorant, racist dullards.
How exactly are you going to vet "known" extremists?
MUSLIMS ARE NOT EXTREMISTS.

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 21:08

I think people who don't know about the rise of fascism in Germany should really read up on it.

Especially on the propaganda. The rise of dictatorship. The rise of the people. Othering. Scapegoating. The role of the press.

to think it's finally time England deals with its Katy Hopkins problem?
NotISaidTheWalrus · 24/05/2017 21:09

I'm so sick of people saying that they don't know stuff because school never told them X or Y, as if school is where people get most of their knowledge!
Educate yourself. You clearly have internet, try google. Read some books. When you see people talking about a phrase you don't understand but seems to mean something, look it up and find out, don't just tell everyone you never learned it in school and its no big deal because you've never heard of it.
