I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

"Prayers said over it during slaughter" What is this?! Bunkum! Like squirreltap I remember all the effort to shame cosmetic companies and the pictures of rabbits with shampoo in their eyes and beagles in cages etc etc.

Now advances in animal welfare are just dumped because of prayers ? Holy shit.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 24/05/2017 09:26

I don't think whether Nando's uses Halal blessed only meat or Halal throat cut meat is really the point. The point is the law was changed to accommodate a religious requirement that did not fit with the UK. Squirrel Champagne agree with both of you.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 09:27

Just as a point of information, halal meat can be pre stunned. Not sure about Kosher.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 09:27

I actually think halal meat is a really good analogy for all of our issues.

Here you have westerners who eat the most animals in the world and who invented factory farming who have a wealth of food and good protien that could be derived from non animal sources pretending they are animal lovers with no issues to address and griping about people who eat far less meat and the way they murder animals. My way of murder is marginally less violent than yours so I'm better.

Not, "actually this is fucking barbaric let's work to eradicate violence in our culture in all forms".

OP posts:
QueenoftheAndals · 24/05/2017 09:29

I want to boycott halal because I find it inhumane to animals

I hope you're a vegan then, as the dairy industry is fucking brutal. The entire meat industry is - read Eating Animals or watch Cowspiracy.

I also notice that everyone who gets het up about halal conveniently ignores the fact that the Jewish method of slaughtering animals doesn't stun them first either.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 09:32

What law was changed when?

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 09:33

Here's the thing, there is no us and them, it's all British culture. White British Christian men are raping and murdering far more people in this country than brown British terrorists. That doesn't mean ignore brown British terrorist or gangs of men that groom teenage girls (not all of whom were white btw). It means that as a culture we need to deal with it in all forms. By concentrating only on "final solutions" for muslims you're saying you are happy with murder against brown muslims and happy to continue with the status quo of a violent white patriarchal system in this county.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 09:33

Halal does not preclude stunning.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 09:34

queenoftheandals also that inhumane muslim tradition of chasing foxes around with dogs on horse back. Oh wait.

squirreltrap · 24/05/2017 09:35

Yet again, people unable to directly say that halal slaughter is a BACKWARD step. Yes, dairy farming is brutal, it bothers me and yes I want to see PROGRESS and change.

I just cannot see how a step to eradicate our progress by allowing halal meat slaughter with all the work we had done to improve things can be justified - can you even see that point without constantly criticising what we do? I'm not saying we are perfect but I am saying taking backward steps on our road to progress for religious beliefs is idiotic

tabulahrasa · 24/05/2017 09:35

"I want to boycott halal because I find it inhumane to animals"

Then you need to boycott any chickens slaughtered by any mass production method a single the way they are killed is exactly the same whether it's halal or not.

squirreltrap · 24/05/2017 09:38

I'm very sure we banned fox hunting

Progress again

BelleTheSheepdog · 24/05/2017 09:38

And op brings up foxhunting..

SapphireStrange · 24/05/2017 09:39

It sounds like she worded it badly and corrected it straight away

Bollocks. She is many things but I don't think she's stupid. It is disingenuous at best to try to characterise this as a 'slip'.

I hope she is investigated and prosecuted. Enough is enough, to use her own words.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 09:40

Yes, and who wants to bring it back? Muslims? No your elected prime minister Theresa May. That well known Muslim fundamentalist. And the fact that it was made illegal didn't mean that this country actually stopped liking it overnight or even stopped participating in it.

OP posts:
Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 09:41

NO Belle, I continued a conversation about inhumane treatment of animals. Keep up.

OP posts:
QueenoftheAndals · 24/05/2017 09:41

Meh, to me all animal slaughtered is brutal so I choose not to eat them. I'm not going to get worked up about religious slaughter when electrocuting an animal and driving a bolt through its head is just as bad. If you're so concerned then work to end it all.

BelleTheSheepdog · 24/05/2017 09:42

Where are you going with this op?

Fruitcorner123 · 24/05/2017 09:42

squirreltrap The Tories want to bring fox hunting back

Lweji · 24/05/2017 09:44

What does fucking halal have to do with advocating a final solution? FGS

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 09:45

"Yet again, people unable to directly say that halal slaughter is a BACKWARD step"

I have no problem at all with saying that cutting the throats of in stunned animals is outrageous. (Although, ironically, I have read that small scale slaughter of animals for by halal and kosher butchers could be said to be more humane than what happens in an industrialized slaughterhouse) But this is not a requirement for halal meat.

surferjet · 24/05/2017 09:46

Not sure what the point of this thread is anymore?
KH? white men? fox hunting?

MsHooliesCardigan · 24/05/2017 09:46

Agree Lweji Talk about spectacularly missing the point.

BelleTheSheepdog · 24/05/2017 09:46

Whose elected prime minister?

Why is she my elected pm?

BelleTheSheepdog · 24/05/2017 09:47

Op you raise more questions than you answer for me!
