to think it's finally time England deals with its Katy Hopkins problem?

I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

as one guy who, after the fact, said he'd seen a look of hatred in the guys eyes said he was reluctant to do...

Are you seriously saying that the UK should start arresting people because of looks of hate? That neighbours should report eachother because they're not "nice"?

Do you know how many attacks are foiled and prevented? Start following the he news. Not just big headlines.

Some attacks will happen. That is the reality. Attacks by single people are the most difficult the he prevent. That is a fact.

The hate shown by Kate and some people here just plays into ISIS hands.
Well done you.

Oblomov17 · 24/05/2017 07:23

Yes she's vile. The reference of 'final' re Holocaust is ridiculous.

But she is right. We need a solution. But we don't have one. No one seems to know what to do. Because there is no easy answer. But trotting along as we are, isn't really an option either. Impossible situation.

Charlieismydarlin · 24/05/2017 07:26

I think Katie Hopkins is one of the few journalists to state what a lot of us think.

We cannot go on like this. We need to find a way for our cultures to live together peaceably.

It is no longer acceptable for preachers to be allowed to ask that young men blow up our children. To be given the forum to do so. To exist in small pockets of communities that agree with this.

Charlieismydarlin · 24/05/2017 07:26

And I don't think she is advocating a holocaust FFS

NotACleverName · 24/05/2017 07:29

It's already been explained what Final Solution means. Are people really that naive that they think she used those words in error? No, she knew exactly what she was doing.

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 07:34

Journalist? Really...person who was on a TV show and said controversial things and found that controversial things got her publicity.

A lot of us? - how do you know that? Or is that just the echo chamber of people like her?

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 07:35

It is no longer acceptable for preachers to be allowed to ask that young men blow up our children

Do you think that there are laws in the UK that tackle this already?

Orlantina · 24/05/2017 07:36

To exist in small pockets of communities that agree with this

So what would you do then with Muslim communities? You say it's not acceptable. So would you displace them?

Kokusai · 24/05/2017 07:38

It is incredibly scary that not only is this kind of speech being giving s platform, people agree with it. More scary than some nut job setting a bomb off, because this is the kind of ideas and hate that take down a free society.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 07:41

I'm so glad to live in a culture that respects women.

www.thetablet.co.uk/news/1028/0/new-figures-show-almost-400-catholic-priests-were-anglicans

One that invented 'stone a woman who gets raped in a city because she didn't scream loud enough but forgive her and let her marry her rapist if it happened in a wood as no one could hear her scream'. Recognise that still active myth? One that invented beating children so they don't get too mouthy. Our entire culture is informed by a racist sexist violent Christian patriarchal view. Yes, we're so different from "them". How many actual bombers have we had on our soil that we can justify acting like an entire religion's followers are evil? 100 women killed by men every year but if I hate male violence I'm an evil man hater. You're allowed to hate millions of people because less than ten have done awful things. After our countries have destroyed the Ines their families come from.

But that is literally what she said. That's the final solution.

KH "journalist"
Grin
I'd be offended if I was an actual journalist.

user1471545174 · 24/05/2017 07:46

But it's not really about not having the emotional range of a teaspoon, NotACleverName.

KH speaks, as a "goady fucker" (so fucking what, I say, sticks and stones, right?) and there is a disproportionate response to her WORDS which are ultimately just WORDS and not pieces of metal in the dead bodies of children.

So forgive us teaspoons for our lack of emotional range. I think even mentioning KH as a goad and actually caring about her WORDS underplays the significance of the atrocity and worse, is in extremely poor taste.

Lweji · 24/05/2017 07:47

I agree that we all need to find a way to live peacefully.
And one way is for KH to shut up. And for people to stop repeating what shit she comes up with. And for newspapers to stop paying her to spout hate because it sells.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 07:48

". I think even mentioning KH as a goad and actually caring about her WORDS underplays the significance of the atrocity and worse, is in extremely poor taste."

So don't you think words are important?

surferjet · 24/05/2017 07:49

I wouldn't have known what 'final solution' meant, I've never heard of it, but if KH knew exactly what it meant, how do you know she wasn't referring to the terrorists & the people who support them?
I don't follow her on twitter & haven't been following this thread either, but how to you know she didn't mean that?

Lweji · 24/05/2017 07:50

On the power of words:

How many people do you think Hitler killed personally?
He convinced people to kill others. That's what words do.
Isis have also convinced people in Europe to commit attacks. That's what words do.

Kokusai · 24/05/2017 07:50

But that is literally what she said. That's the final solution.

People just don't understand or know or care. Small minded people like hate speak.

It is no longer acceptable for preachers to be allowed to ask that young men blow up our children. To be given the forum to do so. To exist in small pockets of communities that agree with this.

Fucking hell, please please step back from the brink of hate speech and othering that is going on here. It is sounding dangerously like the anti-jew rhetoric in the build up of WW11.

I bet the vast majority of people in the UK have very little understanding of the actual historical events, let alone the build up of political and social tension that led to the WW11.

BertrandRussell · 24/05/2017 07:52

It is absolutely fine-if a bit surprising- not to have heard of the final solution. It is not fine to dismiss and minimize it after you have learnt what it means.

And it means the extermination of an entire race. Not a few selected members of that race.

Lweji · 24/05/2017 07:53

surferjet

Even if she meant terrorists and their supporters, how would you even begin to identify them?
And as "final solution" means killing them, would that mean the death penalty reinstated? Why? What good would it do?

Mostly because these terrorists are already willing to die... They'd just be martyrs.

Kokusai · 24/05/2017 07:54

@Lweji +1

@surferjet don't be so naive. And quite how do you propose a Final Solution would be used against "terrorists & the people who support them"? You are in favor or rounding up the family (mothers, fathers, wives, children) of terrorists, without trial, and killing them? You should be fucking ashamed of yourself. I am ashamed of you.

Kokusai · 24/05/2017 07:55

This is quite interesting, if a little brief

theconversation.com/no-this-isnt-the-1930s-but-yes-this-is-fascism-68867

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 07:56

"as one guy who, after the fact, said he'd seen a look of hatred in the guys eyes said he was reluctant to do..."

Can someone explain how "hatred in eyes" is an arrestable offence but calling for holocaust is just a bit of bantz.

OP posts:
Slarti · 24/05/2017 07:57

I think Katie Hopkins is one of the few journalists to state what a lot of us think.

Hitler was only saying what a lot of Germans thought. Does it matter how many people are brainwashed to agree with a disgusting idea? Does a Muslim holocaust become a good deed if enough people who want it?

We cannot go on like this. We need to find a way for our cultures to live together peaceably.

Mostly we do, don't we? Obviously it would be ideal if no culture included people who supported ISIS, or Britain First, or the KKK or whatever, but it would be irrational to suggest that those groups represent the cultures from which they emerge and equate to entire cultures not getting along. I'm not prepared to be blamed for the death of Jo Cox so I don't think anyone not involved should be blamed for Manchester.

It is no longer acceptable for preachers to be allowed to ask that young men blow up our children. To be given the forum to do so. To exist in small pockets of communities that agree with this.

It never was acceptable. We prosecute hate speech and, where possible, deport foreign hate speakers. The response from the Muslim community to extremism is always a resounding public rejection, just as the response from non-Muslims to the likes of Katie Hopkins' and Britain First's recent calls for violence against innocent people was (mostly) a rejection.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 07:59

Also where exactly do we send the families? If they were born in England and are, you know, English, where does one get sent? Why should another country accept our home grown terrorists?

I think we need to wondering why in a supposedly non racist free country we're able to create so much divisiveness that people want to blow it up.
