I think Katie Hopkins is one of the few journalists to state what a lot of us think.
Hitler was only saying what a lot of Germans thought. Does it matter how many people are brainwashed to agree with a disgusting idea? Does a Muslim holocaust become a good deed if enough people who want it?
We cannot go on like this. We need to find a way for our cultures to live together peaceably.
Mostly we do, don't we? Obviously it would be ideal if no culture included people who supported ISIS, or Britain First, or the KKK or whatever, but it would be irrational to suggest that those groups represent the cultures from which they emerge and equate to entire cultures not getting along. I'm not prepared to be blamed for the death of Jo Cox so I don't think anyone not involved should be blamed for Manchester.
It is no longer acceptable for preachers to be allowed to ask that young men blow up our children. To be given the forum to do so. To exist in small pockets of communities that agree with this.
It never was acceptable. We prosecute hate speech and, where possible, deport foreign hate speakers. The response from the Muslim community to extremism is always a resounding public rejection, just as the response from non-Muslims to the likes of Katie Hopkins' and Britain First's recent calls for violence against innocent people was (mostly) a rejection.
