to think it's finally time England deals with its Katy Hopkins problem?

I know she feeds off publicity and the best thing really would be to ignore her until she shrivels and dies of fame starvation so I apologise for the thread but this is really too much now isn't it?

^^ This

I don't remember doing WW1 or WW2 at school, I'm sure we didn't do it (and I went to a grammar school). What I have learned has been what I have read myself. I wasn't aware of the term 'final solution'.

Not knowing that term doesn't make me dangerous or mean that I am unaware of the holocaust or the Nazis.

Having said that. I can't stand Katie Hopkins and I'm sure she knew exactly what it meant!

TuppenceForYou · 23/05/2017 19:23

She's just got a different opinion to the OP.

Something 'liberal progressives' apparently can't cope with!!!

Hmm
NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 19:23

YABU. I agree with her. Sick to theback teeth of the PC brigade silencing everyone and people censoring everything they say incase they are perceived as racist

It's only the racist stuff that will make people think you are racist. HTH.

Dragonglass · 23/05/2017 19:24

My ^^this was meant for Ovaries post

TuppenceForYou · 23/05/2017 19:24

She (I meant Katy Hopkins) all power to her. I don't agree with everything she says but quite a lot (so CENSOR ME!). she just speaks for common sense, at least most of the time ...

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 19:25

Common sense if you happen to be a facist, maybe.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 23/05/2017 19:25

(As I said, I think Katie Hopkins knew and I think she's a colossal twat, but I don't think it's as common knowledge a term as people are assuming it is, and I don't think it's fair to make slights on people's intelligence or awareness of the world around them based on not knowing one specific phrase).

gluteustothemaximus · 23/05/2017 19:26

Yes, Ovaries, I agree.

and

Not knowing that term doesn't make me dangerous or mean that I am unaware of the holocaust or the Nazis.

This too.

Again. Lots of nastiness directed at posters for not knowing something, we have now since learnt.

Confused
OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 23/05/2017 19:27

she just speaks common sense for racists, fascists and the ignorant, at least most of the time

Fixed it for you.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/05/2017 19:29

Are people really claiming that KH didn't know what she was saying?

Riversleep · 23/05/2017 19:30

Surely the point is that there is little doubt that she did know. It's not a phrase in common usage, or a term that you would accidentally come up with. She knows full well what it means. She is a pathological liar, narcissist and racist. She knew her tweet would get publicity, then she could delete it.I doubt she cares about anyone but herself.

clairewilliams999 · 23/05/2017 19:32

Sorry, you're fucking ignorant

Orlantina · 23/05/2017 19:32

There's a lot of recent history people could learn from.

How the media and propaganda was used to fuel hate in 1930s Germany.
Rwanda genocide in 1992
The Balkan conflict and the ethnic cleansing
Middle East history - and the role of the West.
Israel and Palestine
Northern Ireland and the ways the UK Government tried to tackle the situation there.

Slarti · 23/05/2017 19:34

Frankly I think the decent person would reserve their ire for the terrorists and their supporters

Frankly if the Final Solution doesn't make you feel any ire then you simply aren't decent are you?

gluteustothemaximus · 23/05/2017 19:36

"lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated"

That's ignorant apparently. I am only lacking knowledge over one specific thing, not lacking of awareness or knowledge in general.

Also, if I then go and 'educate' myself by finding out more information on it, I cannot still be considered ignorant, just because no one on here is willing to accept that ALL adults everywhere couldn't have possible gone through life without knowing what 'final solution' means.

Maybe, that, is ignorant.

Fliptophead · 23/05/2017 19:36

Yes, total coincidence she said "final solution". When's the last time you used the phrase? Why say 'final'? Have we used the term 'solution' to this frequently? Fwiw it really is a very widely used term and those of you who don't know it I would bet money have heard it before even if you've forgotten it.

NotISaidTheWalrus · 23/05/2017 19:36

yy, if you can't summon even a little ire for someone casually advocating genocide, them you're a bit fucked.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 23/05/2017 19:39

Right. I agree, not knowing this? I mean, I am indeed very suprised (I think it's a bit a lack of schooling and imo it is like somebody thinking it's fine to say things like... "equal but separate" when talking about hotbutton issues nowadays) but there are many things I'm ignorant of. Ignorance doesn't make one evil, sure.

Which is why somebody asking about why somebody may react strongly to her tweet or first needing to click on the link in the OP? Sure. That doesn't mean this person is evil, nasty, a racist etc.

Fliptophead · 23/05/2017 19:39

From the "holocaust" entry on wiki.

to think it's finally time England deals with its Katy Hopkins problem?

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2017 19:39

I am as sure as it it possible to be that she did know what she was saying.

I am surprised that so many people don't know what it meant, but you can't know everything and they do now, that's fine. What is shocking, though, is that the response to this new piece of information doesn't seem to be "Bloody hell, what an awful, dangerous, charged thing to say"

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 23/05/2017 19:44

^ This (Betrand's comment)

And still, if a person I like/agree with happens to write something like this? I'd expect them to swiftly and clearly rectify her mistake. And if they don't? I really hope that I'd start wondering who I was agreeing with.

whatsthefuckingwrongwithyou · 23/05/2017 19:45

Totally. It's the 'journalistic' version of lighting the blue touchpaper and standing well back. She knew exactly what she was saying even if others' might not have heard the term before. The media has immense power and right now, we don't need the Daily Mail readers' being fed her toxic views. The comments section of her piece are exactly what you'd expect - "You are SO right Katie", "You speak the truth", "We know exactly what needs to be done but the PC brigade would be up in arms" etc etc. It makes for grim and scary reading.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 23/05/2017 19:47

What is shocking, though, is that the response to this new piece of information doesn't seem to be "Bloody hell, what an awful, dangerous, charged thing to say"

How do you know that isn't the reaction? Hmm

When I read the tweet, I thought it was disgusting. When I found out what Final Solution means, I was horrified. I'm sure many others have had the same reaction.

gluteustothemaximus · 23/05/2017 19:47

I agree Bert. I did not know what it meant, and did not expect to be attacked on not knowing TBH, but now knowing what it means I am horrified.

I don't like KH anyway. But this is the the worst tweet; even by her standards.
