AIBU?

To be irrationally annoyed by people with lots of DCs

I know IABU really.

And that it's irrational, mostly groundless and a bit unfair.

But it really annoys me!

Any other irrational annoyances out there? I have tonnes more Grin

It annoys me a bit too. Not sure why though. It looks a bit exhausting having that many children!

The world is on the road to over-population and strained natural resources - a situation that will get worse over time (food supply, energy, water, sewerage systems, waste to landfill, etc, etc). My DH didn't want more than two for that reason, he thinks it's not 'socially responsible'.

I like lots of children as long as they're well behaved Grin

My friend has got 7 boys ranging from 2 years old up until 12 years old and they are just ADORABLE!! They are like carbon copies of each other to look at and they are all such lovely boys. I love being around them all as they make me feel so happy....they're like a same sex Von Trapp family Grin

I am the one totally 'baffled' too when people say its selfish to have a large family. What a silly outlook on life that doesnt fit in with 1 or 2.1 kids. Who is to say people are not baffled with that?

Admire and am jealous of people with lots of children. I always thought I would have 4 or 5 at least but started too late. Have always been around large families and they are my best memories growing up.

YABU especially as I presume you have them already?

People whistling annoys me lots.

I agree. 4+ pisses me off. You can't possible give more than 3 kids the dedication they deserve.

I here you OP, but for me it is pity, not annoyance. i am from a country and culture where it was the thing to have many children, 4 was about the minimum. Children were a form of social security. I am one of 5.

But these days, in my country, a woman who has that number of children, and who is under 40 is usually in a marriage where there is domestic, financial, religious and other abuses.

It doesn't help that big families are encouraged by a church in my country that attracts a huge number of relatively poor families, who continue to have children after children even when it is clear the children are not going to get a good education etc.

So I tend to regard women with lots of children with pity, because my instinct is to assume that no woman would really want that many children without a pathological reason, or without external pressure.

If mouth and nose noises irritate you or make you feel angry, then you could be suffering from a condition called Misophonia. Google it. It's no joke. For a sufferer it makes many situations very difficult.

Oh sorry. Are we saying what annoys us? Or arguing about the kids thing? Must read thread!

If you don't know it's selfish therein lies the problem. Mostly it's selfish to the older children who invariably have to look after the younger ones and thus lose their childhood. Not fair, not right.

No, but that wasn't the question.

I have a lot. I intend to raise them to give more than they take, and to be kind and spread that kindness and love around.

I have a lot of friends with fertility issues. I have had to work through feeling guilty at having things they so desperately want but either can't have or can't have easily. I still feel an intense sadness for their situation and would do anything to be able to change it for them.

I don't really mind if people are annoyed by us being a large family. I can't change how people feel and that opinion will be based on all kinds of things.

I couldn't care less how many children people have as long as they are paying for them themselves and not expecting benefits to do so. I sadly do know of people that churn out child after child on benefits. Some that have never worked a day in their lives. But if you are paying for your own children, that is fine.

This doesn't happen in my family. It did happen for me as a child - I was one of two.

I always scream at the TV whenever some announcer says a date like June 8. Just month then number. It's not June 8. It's June the 8th or the 8th of June.
DH will only watch catch up with me now Blush

I'm annoyed by everything pretty much. People having one kid, lots of kids, no kids, and making me hear about it are all on the list. People who treat pets like children. People who eat loudly. Snorers. Skateboard users and many other wheeled small invention users. Small dogs that think they're cats, large dogs that think they're horses. Fiddle toys. Bottle flips. Dabbing. People starting sentences with 'yeah... but!!' People not liking me starting sentences with 'so'. People voting wrong. People not voting at all. It being sunny when I'm working and rainy when I'm not.
I have so much more. Why did you get me started.

I have 5 fabulous children.
It seriously pisses me off when people assume the older ones "miss out" due to looking after the younger ones. For me. That it just not the case.

The fucking annoying tinny racket of other people's headphone leakage on the train. It's so bloody arrogant and intrusive to sit there sounding like a rotating barrel of forks. I have been known to move to a different carriage because it can sometimes be so loud.
It makes me want to punch them.
I don't think it's irrational either, so probably a mistake to post.

I snorted when I read about an "eco-campaigner mother-of-five". Really? Surely producing so many additional consumers is one of the most unsubstainable things you can do?

I have come to the conclusion that there is really only one thing that irritates me. People. All people. Young, old, middle-aged, students (at certain times a year especially students). In particular surly teenagers on the till at the supermarket.

I need to live in a world just surrounded by dogs.

😀
