To be irrationally annoyed by people with lots of DCs

I know IABU really.

And that it's irrational, mostly groundless and a bit unfair.

But it really annoys me!

Any other irrational annoyances out there? I have tonnes more Grin

I have said I know I'm being silly and irrational and I'm not after a row - like I said, I was just interested to see what random things annoy others!

Another of mine is three people in a row in a van!

Yeah, me too! And even more so when they have jobs and are all smug about it. I always think "bloody spongers" when I would never think that about, for instance, a person on benefits.

I might be being U though, I don't know.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 22/05/2017 17:08

I know a couple of families with 5+ children. Most of them are really lovely (in fact they're like the Von Traps / Brady bunch / whatever large super organised and happy families)

One family though I try to avoid like the plague - seemingly no boundaries for the children, let their kids get away with murder until the parents snap and suddenly start full on screaming at them and they both CONSTANTLY complain about how much work the kids are in earshot of the children which I think is cruel.

I have to bite my tongue so I don't ask why they had 6 children if they obviously hate being parents.

Phoebefromfriends · 22/05/2017 17:08

Are you annoyed by the environmental impact of large families or is it something else? I worry about the impact on the environment I make and it's only me.

Leilaniii · 22/05/2017 17:08

... sorry, just to clarify, I am referring to people with > 10 kids, not just normal big families of say 4 or 5.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 22/05/2017 17:09

Well this will go well...

IfNot · 22/05/2017 17:09

I am slightly irritated by people with very small children. Just going about their business. It's not very nice of me. They just seem to take up so much room, and seem so oblivious to everyone else around them, with their tricycles and scooters and tupperware.
I do keep these thought inside my head though, I don't tut or glare.

ExPresidents · 22/05/2017 17:09

Do you make all your life decisions thinking about the greater good to humankind bibbity?

If the members of a large family make a net contribution to society then they are contributing to the greater good anyway. As PP have said it's about raising people to be an asset to the world they live in, if people can do that well then I'd much rather see them produce 10 people like that and the people who raise lazy entitled arseholes have none. No such thing as a pre-parenting test though.

friendlyflicka · 22/05/2017 17:10

Sometimes I feel like this and my threshold is even lower at 4. But I think it is as a result of feeling inferior because presumably they are very natural parents and I looking after 2 not easy.

Highalert · 22/05/2017 17:10

This will kick off Grin

GrangeMill · 22/05/2017 17:11

Having any children, or pets, or cars, or a whole house/flat to yourself is selfish in an over populated world.

Iloverichtea · 22/05/2017 17:12

ifnot I know, it's not very nice of me either, and there isn't a particular reason I can put my finger on as to why I get irritated

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 22/05/2017 17:12

You can argue that its selfish from an environmental point of view to have any children but that's just as ridiculous.

I don't have children - so I get a prize?

Sionella · 22/05/2017 17:12

In light of the population and the planet's inability to cope with it, YANBU. Imagine if every person had 6 kids!

However, in terms of judging other people's choices, YABVU.

#conflicted

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 22/05/2017 17:12

three people In a row in a van

That made me laugh actually. Ok so mine is the mindless whistling my dh does when he's doing a diy job and people who keep small animals like hamsters or rabbits. What's the point.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2017 17:13

Jeez why are folk so nasty?
Today's children are tomorrows tax paying adults who hopefully will not stereotype and judge

Highalert · 22/05/2017 17:14

Do you have a whole house to yourself,Livia?

Birdsgottaf1y · 22/05/2017 17:14

How do you feel about people having babies in war zones, or areas of possible starvation/flood?

Should we take refugees and send aid if they continue to have children?

Should we offer vaccinations if they won't stop reproducing?

Or is it only Western Women that have to control their fertility?

SouthWestmom · 22/05/2017 17:15

I am irrationally annoyed at the man in front of me on the train right now in the aisle seat next to the table window I had reserved: this is because I am vegetarian bordering on vegan and he is eating stinky spicy chicken wings, pack after pack. I am sitting behind him and he keeps sending people away from the seat in case I turn up.

NO CHANCE CHICKEN MAN

NameyMcNameChangeChange · 22/05/2017 17:15

As ever, it's the people who manage badly, fail to see the obvious coming along, and expect others to mop up their mess who annoy me - regardless of how many kids they have.

SashaSashays · 22/05/2017 17:16

Why has it been described as greedy?

Where is the greed in having your own children, its not as if you're taking them from someone else?

I'm actually irrationally annoyed by a certain kind of parent and I'd be absolutely roasted for it if I was stupid enough to voice the opinion because they're very good people, they just piss me off. I think its smugness that does it.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 22/05/2017 17:16

One of five here. YABVU 😂

Iloverichtea · 22/05/2017 17:16

Dianne I just laughed out loud at your rabbit one! Grin

Not a view I share but each to their own!

halcyondays · 22/05/2017 17:16

I know very few people who have more than 4 dc. If somebody can cope with 5/6 kids then it's their choice, I'd be gibbering in a corner long before I got to that number.

Having 19/20 can't be much fun for the kids involved though.

Riversleep · 22/05/2017 17:17

The only time I do get annoyed by people with large families are the 'Oh whoops, I accidentally got pregnant for the 3rd, 4th, 5th time,' lot who then martyr themselves about it, but my DC used to go to Catholic school, where it happened a lot. Im not sure it happens in normal places. Also, Jamie Oliver preaching about the environment and moaning because his wife keeps forcing him to have babies he doesn't want, but he's too scared to have the snip. Both these situations seem very retrograde. Use contraception if you don't want children. It's not poison!
