I know IABU really.

And that it's irrational, mostly groundless and a bit unfair.

But it really annoys me!

Any other irrational annoyances out there? I have tonnes more Grin

I'm one of 10 AND I speak Russian. I should probably evacuate this thread before I'm kicked off.

And the birth rate is less because mortality is less.

I don't understand. Where's the connection between birth rate and mortality?

I think that because less children die before their 5th birthday than 100 years ago, people have less children. Which is not always the case for cultural/religious/personal reasons. But in general, yes.

How can my cute double mushroom annoy you, OP? It made me chuckle.

I can see where you are coming from OP.

I feel sorry for the children as there is no way they are getting the attention they need if they are competing with 4,5,6 etc siblings.

I think it can be a bit selfish with the parents constantly needing babies.

But if you're paying for your own kids do what you like.

Aw Gaelic. Give us a hug but don't speak. Grin

The kids do not suffer if it's done properly, French. The same could be said of a parent of 2 kids who doesn't make time for them. Multiple children does not equal unhappiness and lack of attention, and nor does it always occur because the parents need babies Hmm

I'm chuffed to bits that Alice Krige, Sarah Douglass, Sylvester McCoy, Tony Curran and Sophie Aldred all said my kids are "lovely kids" and a credit to me.

Who now? Confused Okay, I've heard of Sylvester McCoy, but are the rest just your mates?

Спасибо, pineapple. Grin it's okay, the Russian is far enough back now that the Irish is dominant. I have relatives who fled the Bolshevik Revolution.

Longevity has increased. People don't usually die until they're very, very old. They are retired for up to 45 years. We simply don't have the young people to support this at the current birth rate. It's selfish to restrict yourself to less than 3!
Environmental impact is reduced by

  • having too many to worry about washing them or their clothes - less water and heating/detergent.
  • sleeping four to a bed keeps everyone warm so no nasty fossil fuels.
  • having no food waste because the silly supermarkets family ready meals are not big enough
  • not flying because why would you with little ones
  • not having BBQs as they are dreadful for the world and it's impossible find a big enough BBQ to cook 16 sausages at same time without burning them.

Are some people serious?

French martini time that is your opinion though. Very large families are not a new thing. It works. It has worked. No one can say that kids are competing for 'attention' etc maybe it doesn't work like that in another family and so on.

It annoys me too op. And people who shout 'benefit bashing' are either in receipt of benefits or have not seen first hand the large amount of people who pop kids out 1 after the other to avoid getting jobs when the youngest has started school.

Some might have jobs but still get a huge child benefit payment. The schools are already full to the brim and doctors/dentists appointments are scarce.

I meant normal as in not shocking
Not avergage
I just meant it in reference to people saying they had five children, I meant its not a lot.

And people are so silly to assume if you have multiple children you must be on benefits! My aunt has eight kids and has a full time job as a nurse....all these kids are perfectly happy in their life and if anything I wish I had that big household!

Smug people who bang on about large families impact on the environment yet drive a fuck off 4l 4x4 diesel monster of a car, holiday abroad umpteen times a year, buy a ton of plastic tat toys then bin them equally as quick, don't recycle, buy out of season food that's wrapped to fuck in reams of plastic annoy me Grin

No way is she supporting eight children purely on a nurses salary sugar.

It doesn't bother me, it's the environment I worry about. But she'll be taking in a lot in CTCs and CB.

I actually couldn't care less if someone wants to spend their life on benefits. I wouldn't choose it. I just think more fool them! I'm sure far more taxpayers money is wasted on other things.

GaelicSiog · 22/05/2017 19:31

No benefits involved here either. And we're all now contributing to society. And oddly enough are all still very close.

How patronising, "lovely"lavender. See here - blog.staffnurse.com/nursing-salary-list
Plenty of nurses earn enough to raise 8 children.

Report
lovelylavender1 · 22/05/2017 19:35

It's not intended patronisingly Alice, tbh.

Despite what the article claims, most nurses don't earn £72,000 p/a.

4 bedroom house, 10 kids is totally doable, btw. We did it. Massive house is not needed. Both parents working, the older ones were more or less grown up by the time I was born. Benefits didn't come into it Hmm

You said no way is she supporting 8 children on a nurses salary. You were wrong. It is possible to earn a lot of a money as a nurse.

Report
splendide · 22/05/2017 19:40

I don't think I could support 8 children on £72k but I guess it depends where you live.
