To ask you to name the best hotel you've ever stayed in?

I love hotels. The best I've ever stayed in is probably a toss up between the Shard in London (Shangri-La) or Phu Petra in Krabi, Thailand.

Do you have any memorable (for the right reasons) hotel stays? Currently trying to organise this years holiday and can't decide on hotels.

On the contrary, the worst was a hotel (so called) in koh Pangan which was an absolute hell hole. Concrete shack with a concrete block topped with a mucky old mattress for a bed! I cried!

I loved Hotel Endsleigh in Devon. Felt like we were hidden away in a little bubble of indulgence, beautiful gardens and a lovely relaxing atmosphere.

Worst was a hotel in Rome where I could barely sleep it was so grotty!

I love The Mondrian in London

also rather partial to La Tour and Hotel Indigo in Brum

Hever Castle B&B. It was gorgeous, the breakfast was delicious and we could go into the lovely castle grounds whenever we fancied it.

The Merrion in Dublin - fantastic

The Parador in Ronda, absolutely stunning location, very pricy though!

Also a fort in Rajasthan, beautiful suite with dinner and a dance display included, we pushed the boat out and paid £50 for the night, can't remember the name of it though.

The Shangri La Rasa Sayang in Penang, or the Shangri La Tanjung Aru in Borneo if a hot holiday.

The W in NYC for a city hotel.

The Luton Hoo for a comfy U.K. Weekend break.

The May Fair and Rubens at the Palace in London. Stayed at both for work and loved them.

For pleasure, the Pullman in Cologne.

Can't remember the best hotel I've stayed in overall, but I distinctly remember the best bed I've stayed in, which weirdly was at Slough Travelodge

They were trialling some fancy new mattress or something - you could even buy them if you wanted! It was heaven

La Tour in Brum is lovely, especially their deluxe rooms with the tv in the bathroom. My favourite in the UK so far was the Savoy in London, although I recommend you stay away from the mini bar!

Shangri la Kuala Lumpur. Best breakfast hands down!

Gritty Palace in Venice is heavenly.

Mandarin oriental in Kuala lumpar. We got upgraded to a suite and had an amazing view of the Petronas towers.

The breakfast was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.

Seaside Resort and Spa in Crete. Beautiful views, great staff, lovely rooms- we want to return!

The best: toss-up between The Oriental in Bangkok and Hayman Island Resort on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I'd sell a minor body part for a week in either of them.

Worst: a hotel I have actually blanked the name of in Ilfracombe that a friend from uni and I got a groupon deal for a three night stay in. Everything about it was utterly grim, from the undead Elvis impersonator that did the evening entertainment, to the shoe leather served as 'steak' the one evening we had the misfortune to eat there, to the pubes in the bath...

Absolutely loved The Conrad in New York - such a quiet haven with the most wonderful service I've ever come across and the best bed I've ever slept in. Here in the UK we've stayed at Bovey Castle on Dartmoor a few times - again, the service is beyond exemplorary. It's never the actual hotel for me, it's the way you are treated when you stay there.

Forgot about La Tour in Brum. Great breakfast.

Siam kempinski in Bangkok

I've stayed in a lot of lacklustre places, however I did find a little gem a few miles from Newmarket, called the olde bull inn. It is quite homely, but funky, high customer service and the food is really, really good.
They advertise there's a lot to do in the area, which I didn't really agree with, we do however tend to go for a night or two when we really need to unwind. The kind of weekends where you lay and read a book, grab a meal. Go up to the room, share a bath and a bottle of wine.
There are a lot of really hot and Miss reviews, it's a bit like marmite, you love it or hate it.

We love it.

The Witchery in Edinburgh. Our own butler, secret bathroom, breakfast in the bedroom in fluffy white dressing gowns, champagne and glowers on arrival, it was fantastic.

Actually the best places I've ever stayed have been private lets on Airbnb. Most of the actual hotels have been nice, but nothing unique (which I like).

I did stay in a beautiful heritage b&b in Key West called the Conch House.

Especially interested in Bangkok as that's where we're going - leaning towards Shangri-La ...

worst was the Travel Lodge is Basildon - cold room, grotty bathroom with plastic shower curtain and no bath - bumbumbum beat of music from the gym below all night and from 6am - delightful
