To be scared about the outcome of the election?

There have been so many attacks on disabled people, the NHS and public services. I am just scared that there will be even more after the election, if the Conservatives get in. It is seriously scary.

I have always voted Labour. To my shame I aligned myself to a party that I thought cared about society and voted Labour in the Blair/Brown years and watched in horror at the £10 billion national health records fiasco orchestrated by the Labour Government.

The Private Finance Initiative was created by the Tory government under John Major however it was Blair and Brown, followed by Brown & Balls that really maximised spending on PFI (and found a very creative way of recording it on the balance sheet).

Aligning to a political party whilst ignoring policies and the moral credibility of individuals was the mistake I made. I actually think Jeremy Corbin seems like a decent and principled person. The backstabbing he has endured from his own party is disgraceful and it actually puts me off voting Labour because the poor man is surrounded by careerist politico wolves in sheep clothing.

So what is the alternative? If I was in Scotland I would vote SNP

In a completely different age with completely different demographics and with life expectancy completely different to now

Also a very different type of Labour politician ... all politicians, come to that

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 16/05/2017 18:16

I don't know brasty. We are stuck here. Never been an issue before as always campaigned for and voted Labour which we can't at the moment.

It will either be LibDems or spoilt ballot papers.

BusyBeez99 · 16/05/2017 18:19

I'm scared too. If this incompetent Labour rabble get in then they won't be able to keep their promises a. They won't raise the taxes they say because big business will get round it.

Vote Tory.

aquashiv · 16/05/2017 18:29

IF, you meant when.

Hope not when. Prefer if

The NHS isn't in much better shape here in Scotland with no Tories in charge of it since we got the scottish parliament. There's no privatisation but still not enough GPs, huge A&E waiting lists and not enough hospital beds and lots of bed blocking due to social servises cuts. Not all our problems are due to the Tories, we're just not that wealthy as a country at the moment and none of the parties actually in power want to raise taxes. The SNP froze council tax for about 8 years and have only just agreed to increase it when librariy services and social services were at breaking point. Several of our local libraries have had to close due to the SNP's council tax freezes this year.

Vote Tory

I'd rather set fire to my own eyeballs

BusyBeez99 · 16/05/2017 22:47

That's what I think about labour ....

brasty · 16/05/2017 22:51

2rebecca because it needs money to tackle those things.

The SNP could raise taxes to pay for them. They have been in power for some time. They chose to reorganise the school exam system instead

NoLotteryWinYet · 17/05/2017 12:00

yes, I wish the SNP would put up taxes - this is what I most dislike about them, they pose as left wing but they haven't sorted out education funding or the NHS properly and they can...Kezia Dugdale has the right of that argument.

The SNP won't do that, they might lose votes for independence as people realize we're better off together, perhaps.
