To be scared about the outcome of the election?

There have been so many attacks on disabled people, the NHS and public services. I am just scared that there will be even more after the election, if the Conservatives get in. It is seriously scary.

The bank deregulation caused the recession, the Labour Party deregulated that banks. Had they not done so the UK would have been far more protected from the global recession.

Ahh, that would be the man she called a Terrorist and President of a Country that she refused to use sanctions against whilst he was imprisoned.

Justanotherlurker · 16/05/2017 16:25

There is also a difference of a PM meeting unsavoury characters whilst enacting geo politics and a rebel backbencher who had no reason for his meetings

Dawndonnaagain · 16/05/2017 16:32

We don't know he had no reason, he may have thought he could negotiate. However, it was all a long time ago and personally, I see little point in dragging any of it up now. Surely we should be dealing with what's happening now? (That applies to all parties).

MagicTractor · 16/05/2017 16:32

dawndonna blimey at Gove speaking the truth for once.

CheeseQueen · 16/05/2017 16:55

Sorry my mistake, you think I am being paid to post.

Sorry, just wading in, but being paid to sit and post on MN all day?! My dream job, RIGHT there lol.
Where do I get me one of those?? Grin
I actually find it refreshing on MN political threads lately - there seems to be a broader sense of views being posted.
Not as extremely left wing as it used to be, there's opposing views as well being aired which is good as you should hear both sides.

DH was denied a home assessment today. He is unable to travel. He is too ill and gets too breathless.

Appeals service is no good to him or us, The stress will have killed him by the time it gets to that point.

brasty · 16/05/2017 17:04

I am so sorry to hear that Helena I know how stressful the system is.

Flowers Helena. How has this country come to this?

Jupitar · 16/05/2017 17:06

So the conservatives don't want to destroy the NHS but they've put Jeremy Hunt in charge of it and he wants it replaced with an insurance system and even coauthored a policy document about it in 2005 called Direct Democracy,

But no they dont want to destroy the NHS at all 🙄

brasty · 16/05/2017 17:07

I won't be able to afford insurance costs :(

I know they want to charge £10 to see a GP. But people like myself who used to go to hospital clinics, now get managed by GPs.

The NHS needs a complete overhaul not more money thrown at it. Labour are not competent to do the work needed

This ^^

Jupitar · 16/05/2017 17:31

The RMT are planning a poorly timed strike (for Labour). The train drivers go on strike far more than any other group of workers.

Why is it bad timed for labour? They're striking because of the conditions being imposed by private companies, aren't they?

It was a labour government which created the NHS in the first place. If they can could create it from nothing surely they can save it?

In a completely different age with completely different demographics and with age expectancy completely different to now.

brasty · 16/05/2017 17:40

Complete overhaul just gets thrown about with any explanation. Do you mean privatisation?

brasty · 16/05/2017 17:41

Except every other western Government manages it. Differences is people pay more there.

I think this graph shows what a lie "Strong and stable" is.

The area in red, where interest rates were relatively stable is the last Labour government.

The volatile areas before and after are conservative governments

To be scared about the outcome of the election?
NotDavidTennant · 16/05/2017 17:50

People don't want more spending on the NHS because they think it means they will pay more tax. "Complete overhaul" and phrases like that get bandied about so that people can convince themselves they can have a better health service without spending more money on it.

Justanotherlurker · 16/05/2017 17:54

The RMT aren't exactly in the public's good books, and they are going down the route of "safety", if you think these "awful conditions" being imposed on them would be any different if it where nationalised I have a bridge to sell you.
