AIBU about the man on the bus?

He said I don't think you should sit there. I said said excuse me what are you on about? He said the bags are massive and take up the fly space.

Well that was it. I was so angry, it wasn't a big amount. How dare he say that to me. I shouted at him that he had really offended me and it backed off and sat in the flight seat.

Now I'm thinking about it I don't know AIBU?

I'm actually disgusted by the amount of unpleasantness and what comes across as bullying on this thread! I think it should be taken down .

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 14/05/2017 23:44

Actually I'm more concerned about the posters saying it should be in classics.

Still, I guess it answers the question 'what is even less funny that penis beaker and cutted up pear'

The more inane stuff that goes into classics, the sillier it looks.
And AIBU posts don't disappear anyway.

toffee1000 · 15/05/2017 03:41

Classics doesn't have to mean serious threads. Why does it matter if there are "inane" threads there? You sound a bit miserable.

Weatherforecaster · 15/05/2017 05:44

This thread seems like a group of school girls ganging up against someone vulnerable. OP obviously didn't go about things in the right way but I think she was told that by about the 3rd post. Did we really need 17 pages of taking the piss?

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 15/05/2017 05:53

Rightly or wrongly this post has made my morning!

I am 50/50 whether I think this post is a genuine one, but if genuine...OP although I understand you feel sensitive about your weight, I think you overreacted in this case. The man was unlikely to be judging your weight. More likely he simply wanted your seat and your bags were taking up the space.

Your response would only be proportionate if he insulted you.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/05/2017 06:02

Loving the flying bus, got to be something in it Grin

I didn't say that they had to be serious - in fact I thought it is generally for funny threads.

But random postings by someone who has never come back? Not sure why that is 'classic'

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 15/05/2017 07:16

Just wondering if they were the limited edition spliff-flavour Pringles... Grin

Jldfour · 15/05/2017 07:20

I agree with Weatherforcaster. It doesn't matter if OP was right or wrong, there are an unbelievable amount of posts with people repeatedly teasing and ripping in to her ...... then asking her to come back .....would you? Some of you are very witty but there are real people with feelings and every day struggles on the other end of your key board, have a care. I just hope OP is ok.

wannabestressfree · 15/05/2017 07:36

Mmmm I happen to agree. Poster is a regular and I think struggles with her English. Is this necessary?

firsttimemum15 · 15/05/2017 08:22

I dont know why people kept asking what OP meant. Her explanation kinda made sense. X

Jolinda · 15/05/2017 09:46

Ooh dear, today's posters must have been cheesed off after reading 17 pages as all a bit defensive of OP. May be she needs defending.

For what it's worth (and I'm no expert) I think three posters have hit the nail on the head with a fly seat being the seat directly behind the driver which faces the gangway. Anyone sitting on this seat with bags takes up a little too much room regardless of their size because their feet and bags encroach into the gangway making it more difficult for new passengers to get on.
Only to be used when the rest of the bus is completely full IMO.
Now that's clarified back to the important stuff.....what flavour princes? ??

Jolinda · 15/05/2017 09:47

Pringles not princes. ...that could start a whole new thread 😁

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 15/05/2017 10:00

I really, really want wasabi Pringles.

Elphaba99 · 15/05/2017 10:18

If the OP's first language is not English, why didn't she just say that though - instead of calling everyone else ignorant because she used a term literally nobody else had heard of? She was rather rude, tbh.

sallyfox · 15/05/2017 10:43

what are/where are flight seats and fly seats on BUSES, please?

catsaresomucheasier2 · 15/05/2017 10:44

Got two pages in and can't be arsed.....

SherlockPotter · 15/05/2017 10:49

@sallyfox I think the flight seats are the folding seats, you typically find them in the disabled/pushchair bays... although truth be told, I thought it was the seat behind the driver (if on a double decker, it's the one above the driver- which feels like you're driving the bus). Still not clear on the fly space though!

GerdaLovesLili · 15/05/2017 11:54

I'm just worried that Pringles and rice is a very high fibre diet..

Tamatoa · 15/05/2017 13:13

Op has obviously gone to the thread-poppin-jibby, and is having a smelty-floot. don't question this post, everybody knows what a smelty-floot is!

HookandSwan · 15/05/2017 13:33

I live in London and spend a lot of time on buses and I've never heard of a fly or flight seat"

MrsRaymondReddington · 15/05/2017 13:49

I thought it was called a jump seat?? No? Just me then...

deloresclaiborne · 15/05/2017 14:38

the op thought she was on the number 49 and woke up in spain

HappyFlappy · 15/05/2017 15:32

Aaaah! The thread that keeps on giving . . .

RiversrunWoodville · 15/05/2017 15:49

No no no you don't understand the seat between the op and the window is for the flies obviously the man was entirely reasonable to be upset that the op had put her bags there in case any flies wanted to occupy said seat, this is entirely normal bus etiquette therefore op was vvu to shout at him --unless her bags contained sour cream and onion pringles in which case she's forgiven. (The flight seat however I'm baffled)
