Original thread for those who are interested!
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2717105-Sod-a-parking-dispute-I-bring-you-a-fucking-wheelie-bin-dispute

They are at it again! And there is a sodding gate there now so they are using the only available triangle spaced bit In front of the gate to park their fecking bins!!

Couldn't even get my bins into my bin store (which it now is now it has a gate on) and had to spend ages moving bins about to open the gate to get them in!

I have exclaimed loudly and pulled all their bins to the end of the entry.

Very nearly pushed them over too.

Sorry for crappy diagram could only find small notebook and DD'S biro- you know the clicky one with 4 different colours.

A sign saying "no fly tipping"?

Report
FloatyCat · 13/05/2017 07:41

I like your last sign - a more strongly worded one is required maybe something along the lines of 'move your fucking bins off my land or I'll burn the fuckers?' Or is that too much?
What is behind your land? Can you just remove them and leave them out in road / field / path etc??

Put a giant jack-in-the-box in each bin. When the owners try and put their rubbish in, they'll hopefully have a fucking heart attack and drop dead put them somewhere they can't be tampered with.

I concede that giant jack-in-the-boxes may be hard to source. Supergluing the lids shut might be easier.

Order a delivery of something that would require a lorry for the time the bins are there. Encourage driver to run them over. Express sadness when neighbours come to collect flat bins "oh how awful, i wonder whatever they were doing there, on my land, in front of the gate? What an odd place for anyone to put your bins...."

@jaxxyj are you being sarcastic? You are the one in the wrong in that situation, stop doing it.

Another idea! Fill the bins with water - and watch them try and move them!

Report
WetPaint4 · 13/05/2017 08:53

Oh yes, I am enjoying the water in the bins idea. Although, could be a pain in the ass trying to fill them up.

Report
pickleypockley · 13/05/2017 09:06

Make a blockade across the entrance with them every time so that if someone drives in they have to get out and move them.

Report
WildKiwi · 13/05/2017 10:02

I'd stick a sign up again stating that it's private property and not to be used for bin storage (and possibly adding something along the lines of "and nicking this sign doesn't change this!"). Any bins that get left there, I'd pull off my land and leave them scattered across the entry way so that they get in everyone's way.

Cheeky buggers some people. Good luck!

I came here to say contact the council but someone beat me to it.

Be mystified.

'I seem to have had a number of bins abandoned on my land. They clearly don't belong to the neighbours as they're in a visible spot and no one has come to claim them. I'm assuming kids have nicked them from one of the neighbouring streets- hopefully if the owner calls in you can reunite them.'

Then cross your fingers that someone local has had a bin nicked/lost/chewed by the truck

ChoccyJules · 13/05/2017 11:13

Yes, ask the council if they want them back for their stock, they can then give them to new, nicer bin-owners. In an ideal world they would send a van round to collect them and the problem would be solved (do we think the nasty neighbours would dare come asking about their missing bins?!).

Report
rightwhine · 13/05/2017 11:24

Yes I'd move them to inconvenience them driving down the alley and if other alley users are also inconvenienced then collective pressure should solve the problem.

Catinthecorner · 13/05/2017 11:50

Or, at our last home if you overfilled your bin you got a naughty sticker and they wouldn't empty it. If this is the case where you live take the bins and massively overfill them. Not only will neighbours have a week's worth of rubbish but they'll have to do a tip run to empty your rubbish out of the bin too.

Report
Muddlewitch · 13/05/2017 11:52

Toy mice/rats/snakes in the bottom? Or just fill them all with your own rubbish.

On a more helpful note, could you put some very low barrier/bordering around that area so that it doesn't affect the cars but would be impossible to roll the wheelie bins across? Like the stuff you use to edge flower beds etc, cheap and easy but would help as they would have to lift them to get them over it.

Report
Astro55 · 13/05/2017 12:15

But OP would also have to lift her bins over - it wouldn't work

I love the giant Jack-In-The-Box idea from LakieLady!

Grin

If you can't find a giant jack-in the box could you hide in one of the bins and jump out at them instead?
That might be fun?

Can you make a poster

'Yoir bin is often found in my property - I believe Mr X for No 2 places it there after collection.

If you allow this to continue I will remove them from MY land and despise of them.

Superglue this to the inside of the bin lid -

Just write the link to this thread on the side in tippex?

Couldn't put a low barrier as wouldn't be able to get my bins over it to actually put them away .

I have a hose so the water idea could work!

Will try the sign again sigh

Why are OAPs so difficult! 😂

Wheel the bins to the road. Get a friend with a tractor* to drive over the bins. Move crushed remains of bins back to the lane. Profess yourself mystified when questioned.

*Assuming you have such a useful friend in your life, of course.
