Original thread for those who are interested!
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2717105-Sod-a-parking-dispute-I-bring-you-a-fucking-wheelie-bin-dispute

They are at it again! And there is a sodding gate there now so they are using the only available triangle spaced bit In front of the gate to park their fecking bins!!

Couldn't even get my bins into my bin store (which it now is now it has a gate on) and had to spend ages moving bins about to open the gate to get them in!

I have exclaimed loudly and pulled all their bins to the end of the entry.

Very nearly pushed them over too.

Sorry for crappy diagram could only find small notebook and DD'S biro- you know the clicky one with 4 different colours.

Don't do anything to the bins that could be seen as damaging them. Do contact the council and report that there are three bins (or as many as there are) that aren't yours, that are blocking your recently installed bin store and you would like the council to collect these random bins as they are causing an obstruction. You will leave them at X location (not on your property, maybe at the top of your road) for them to collect. You believe that these bins are being left on your property as they may have been stolen from another neighbouring street.
Don't damage the bins. Do go through the proper channels to get them removed. It'll annoy your neighbours more when they find that their bins are no more and they have to contact the council to get new ones!

Council or water, OP. It's the only way.

Sit in the bin, wait for neighbours to pick it up, jump out with a ROOOOOAAAAAARRRRRR! Or pay a youngster from the street to do it. Bin owners will ask the busybody to stop it.

OP, could you build a wall with a bin sized access that you can padlock? So that only you and your bin can get in?

I love the Freecycle idea coupled with the notice about donating bins...

Please do that. By deliberately putting them on your property they are effectively giving them to you, so you should be able to regift them.

I'd be tempted to kick the bins over every time they are put there. But then again I'm braver online that I am in real life Grin

Sorry for not updating sooner but I have been at work on bin days and so haven't seen if they have been leaving the bins there . I have put up a sign saying please do not leave your bins in this area as it blocks access to my gate .

So far there have been no bins there when I get home but they are usually gone by then anyway.

I will update next Friday !

Do you think they started it again as a punishment for you having a skip?

Sorry - have had a bad case of D&V 😷 Which has kept me confined pretty much to the bathroom floor!

But - again they ignored and left their bins infront of my gate so we (I say we - I mean DP as I was dying) had to move them (very far down the entry) out of the way to get our bins in.

Ooh do you know what Giraffes you could be on to something there - thy don't like anything that brings down the "tone" of the street and as we are having quite a few bits done the skip has been there several weeks now!

Get a huge pot of vaseline and wipe a stripe onto the bottom/rear of the bin handles, so when they grab their bins to take them home they get vaseline all over their hands...

In bizarre plot twist :

Couldn't find my bin .

Find my bin - outside my bin store .

So basically they had taken my bin in( which they have never done) and left it where I told them not to put theirs??

Is this some form of apology do you think?

When we first got wheely bins the local kids went through a phase of stealing them and turning them into go-karts.
If they continue I vote that you do this and we hold mumsnet bin races outside their house.
We could make bunting (possibly with a rude message on it), bring picnics and generally make a day of it.

Love the cling film idea. Not permanently destructive but very annoying.

Are you going away at all soon?

If so lock their bins in the garage just before you go.... preferably for at least 2 weeks....
