Original thread for those who are interested!
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2717105-Sod-a-parking-dispute-I-bring-you-a-fucking-wheelie-bin-dispute

They are at it again! And there is a sodding gate there now so they are using the only available triangle spaced bit In front of the gate to park their fecking bins!!

Couldn't even get my bins into my bin store (which it now is now it has a gate on) and had to spend ages moving bins about to open the gate to get them in!

I have exclaimed loudly and pulled all their bins to the end of the entry.

Very nearly pushed them over too.

Sorry for crappy diagram could only find small notebook and DD'S biro- you know the clicky one with 4 different colours.

Or, wait til it's raining, leave the bin lids open ( option to add a bit of your own water if needed!) then profess innocence when they try and move them. Speaking as one who knows, they're bloody heavy to move when full of water. The wind must have blown them open!

Fluffy24 · 13/05/2017 18:54

Lock them closed!

myrtleWilson · 13/05/2017 18:57

Can you chain the bins together in an unfathomably difficult manner so that the neighbours have to work together to untangle - an OAP Cystal Maze type affair....

tigerdriverII · 13/05/2017 19:02

Giant jack in the box would be ace.

Followed closely by pilchards, the nasty bastards.

susanboozan · 13/05/2017 19:12

I could be wrong, but your diagram seems to suggest a curved area where you could put (ahem) a curved fence thinggy around your land.

OK the bins would then be outside this, and could cause car problems on the entryway, but that would no longer be an issue for you.

Either way, I would be fencing it off and the hell with it.

I could be totally wrong about interpreting the brilliant diagrams though... sigh.

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 13/05/2017 19:17

Speak to your council/community police officer. Whether your neighbour is being malicious or just dotty, a visit from somone 'official' might help.
Or try bin shaming?

My owner shits his pants and bins them etc accompanied by a laminated glued on photo.

Smiler1972 · 13/05/2017 19:18

AIBU that I read that as Bing gate and was expecting a rant about flop and his approach to gentle parenting?

ohidoliketobe · 13/05/2017 19:19

What about something squishy like chicken wire fastened onto posts around the no man's land to fence it off? It won't damage/ be damaged by cars using the access road to their garages or parking spaces. If you had some hooks fastened onto your garage to keep it in place but can also be detached to allow you into your bin store?

ohidoliketobe · 13/05/2017 19:20

sorry when I say no man's land* I obviously mean your land which is being used as public property

Teabagtits · 13/05/2017 19:21

Start invoicing the bin owners charging rent at extortionate prices.

Louiselouie0890 · 13/05/2017 19:24

Do they know it's your land as going off your notice it doesn't make it clear it's your land I read it like you just don't want them there because it's a hassle or a nuisance. I'd probably wheel them right upto there front doors

BoomBoomsCousin · 13/05/2017 19:27

If I were you I'd want to save up my rubbish/buy in tons of gravel and fill the bins when they were left on my land so the neighbours would have no room for their own rubbish that week. But it's a lot of faff to create and store that amount of trash and the gravel is probably pricey. Are you planning any DIY/building works? Room clearance?

Alternatively, move all the bins so they block the drive for other cars (after your own garage entry obviously!) and chain them together so the owners can't easily separate them and get their own back, or move them out of the way.

Realistically, your last approach appeared to work well. Try it again as the least uncivil, illegal and expensive option. This should be a last resort though, as would be least likely to provide good fodder for the thread Grin.

stuntcamel · 13/05/2017 19:32

Filling them to the brim with water sounds like the best idea so far Grin

PossumInAPearTree · 13/05/2017 19:37

I was going to say lock them up but am loving the filling with water idea.

Or dig out a new flower bed and dump all the soil into the bins.

zigzagbetty · 13/05/2017 19:45

Some of the ideas on here are great, love the filling with water! Just read old thread and am hooked!

wizzywig · 13/05/2017 19:46

Oh poo. I was hoping this was the post about the shared driveway and the family who put electric gates in and wanted the other family to pay for it. Damn!

Babyiwantabump · 13/05/2017 20:06

Well I currently have a skip out the front so I could transfer some of that to their bins!

Babyiwantabump · 13/05/2017 20:07

Sorry to disappoint wizzy Grin

YouTheCat · 13/05/2017 20:08

Superglue the lids shut.

Andylion · 13/05/2017 20:20

Well I currently have a skip out the front so I could transfer some of that to their bins!

Or you could transfer their bins to the skip!

LakieLady · 13/05/2017 20:34

OP, if you do the filling with water thing, can you put up a camera so we can see their reaction when they find it?

SherbertLemon2011 · 13/05/2017 21:22

Ooh I remember being cross that they stole your huge sign last time after you had put thought and effort into making it!

How about this time you could put a smaller (a4?) sign on each bin? Stuck with lots of sellotape or sticky back plastic. No permanent damage to get you in trouble but irritating for them and will probably leave sticky evidence so you can confirm if it was the person from last time again.

You could also put a big general sign in your gated area on a post which they wouldn't be able to reach unless they were Mr Tickle
😁

WatchingFromTheWings · 13/05/2017 21:36

Oh poo. I was hoping this was the post about the shared driveway and the family who put electric gates in and wanted the other family to pay for it. Damn!

Would love an update on this!

OP, how about printing out duplicates of a letter along the lines of 'the bins are being placed on my property, please stop as you are trespassing. Any more bins placed on my property will be removed and destroyed', post through all the doors of those guilty of being twats??

Andylion · 13/05/2017 21:40

You know, I was joking about putting their bins in your skip, but you should do it, as long as the skip isn't going to be emptied immediately.

Your neighbours would, eventually, go to get their bins, see they weren't there, knock on your door, ask about them. You could then make them retrieve them themselves. It would show them you are serious and they should stop being dicks.

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 13/05/2017 22:17

I'm an OAP, I'm not difficult. 😔
