To think this about Jeremy Kyle?

That he comes across as an abuser in an abusive relationship? (To be clear I mean his persona on his show not him as a person in real life as I don't know him). I find it very creepy and very uncomfortable when, after shouting at guests, yelling and snarling in their faces in order to break them down, then suddenly switches to 'kind' Jeremy, kneeling down beside them, looking up at them as they're crying or close to crying after he shouted at them and saying things in a soft voice like "I get you, sweetheart" or "You're not really that bad, are you?" And if he doesn't get an answer pushes it: "Look at me. You're not bad, are you?" So condescending and sick inducing. It makes my skin crawl and reminds me of an emotional bully in a controlling relationship.

I'm pretty sure Graham is a qualified psychotherapist. One thing that bugs the hell out of me about JK is that, considering he's got 4 kids, his knowledge about reproduction is shit e.g. If they are doing a DNA test and the woman has a 28 day cycle and slept with Man A on day 5, Man B on day 14 and Man C on day 27, Jezza reckons that each man has a one in three chance of being the dad whereas any woman would know that Man B is almost certainly the dad.

strugglinghuman · 11/05/2017 16:21

It turns out that the part of "mouthpiece for daily mail older women who want to watch someone say what they would say to naughty people" can be convincingly done in the style of a hamsterwillied emotional abuser, like trevor off eastenders but with a camp estuarial accent, so that's the persona he adopts.

Obviously he is nothing like that and is simply a consummate professional.

waterlego6064 · 11/05/2017 16:45

😂 @ struggling

MsHoolies, yes his maths isn't all that either judging by the fact that he believes lie detector tests to be pretty conclusive, even though he knows full well they are around 70% accurate, at best.

Actually, far more likely he knows and understands that statistics but is glad his guests don't because it makes for more explosive TV.

Gertiegoolash · 11/05/2017 16:52

I had a dirty dream about JK once (Biscuit

NameChange1611 · 11/05/2017 18:01

I've name changed here, obviously.

My bio mother and one of my siblings have appeared on JK on more than one occasion.

Background, I am one of 9 children to her, myself and my four younger siblings were adopted at birth and my older siblings who stayed with her spent their childhoods in and out of care.

She has been a drug user and alcoholic for all of her adult life.

The shows were about how my sibling (older, not adopted. Those of us who were dodged a bullet) was a 'tearaway' and an 'evil child' (JK actually called her evil at one point).

This sibling was born with FAS, has significant learning difficulties and as a teenager was sold to men by bio mother.

The shows were horrific. Sibling is about as vulnerable as you can get and yet the abuse thrown at her by JK and the audience (and bio mother) is considered 'entertainment'.

I was made aware of the first show, watched it and promptly complained to ofcom and I had a very long conversation with a member of the production team about it. They insisted that they weren't aware of her disabilities which is bollocks, as they are obvious.

The second show was about paternity of siblings child, which she had removed by social services shortly after as she had a complete mental breakdown.

Jeremy Kyle and every single person that work on his show are cunts of the highest degree and wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

DeleteOrDecay · 11/05/2017 18:35

Oh gosh Name that's horrificSad Thank you for sharing.

Genuinely can't believe this show has been allowed to continue for as long as it has. I don't care whether JK is 'acting', whether he's been nice to other people in the past etc, he is complicit in the abuse of vulnerable members of society for entertainment and makes money out of it to boot. An odious little man.

It's not just car crash tv, it's absolutely sickening abuse for entertainment.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/05/2017 18:58

If it were up to he'd be permanently taken off air. Calling people with addictions usless and worthless.
Its a fucking illness. Not a hobby. The uneducated muppet.

Talk about kicking people when they're down. That's a bully for you though, isn't it.

franciemczoo · 11/05/2017 19:10

YANBU for thinking that.

But YABVVVU for watching his shite programme!

Grin
NameChange1611 · 11/05/2017 19:42

Just to clarify, I have only ever seen two episodes of JK (two too many in my opinion) and those were the ones my family members appeared on.

However, I've read enough to suggest that what happened to them was not a one off.

KC225 · 11/05/2017 19:45

I've moved abroad and I miss a bit of Jessa

user1493759849 · 11/05/2017 22:48

"Cuntpuffin" Best insult on here ever PMSL! 😂

Name change, sorry about your awful experiences on Jeremy Vile.

EatMySparks · 11/05/2017 23:19

Sorry but it is not a mandatory rule to appear on Jeremy Kyle....it is choice Confused

HoldBackTheRain · 12/05/2017 06:42

NameChange thanks for sharing, that just confirms how low this program will go in the name of entertainment. Absolutely outrageous.

CaoNiMartacus · 12/05/2017 07:54

KC225 what do you miss about it? Do you honestly enjoy what amounts to bear-baiting of the vulnerable and impoverished?

CaoNiMartacus · 12/05/2017 07:55

Gahhh, it's not a choice though, is it? Choices don't exist in vacuums.

The guests are lured with nights in hotels, alcohol before the show, a momentary escape from the drudgery and chaos of their home lives.

DeleteOrDecay · 12/05/2017 08:57

It may be a choice but it certainly isn't an informed choice.

qazxc · 12/05/2017 09:11

I hate how he treats women especially.
Having sex whilst pregnant is used against them.
Not having the father at scams and birth is also not acceptable to him. Errr it's medical procedures and not a spectator sport.
If they bring up abuse he belittles it and makes them out to be lying about it.

NameChange1611 · 12/05/2017 09:37

Delete has hit the nail on the head.

There is a massive difference between choice and informed choice.

When my bio mother is arrested (frequent occurrence, unfortunately) she has to have an appropriate adult with her during interview but she can make an informed decision to appear on JK?

My sibling is illiterate and yet according to the member of the production team that I spoke to she was able to read and sign the release form?

waterlego6064 · 12/05/2017 14:41

Exactly. Consent vs informed consent is the difference between simply agreeing to something, and agreeing to something with full appreciation of any possible implications and consequences.

Beerwench · 12/05/2017 15:01

"It may be a choice but it certainly isn't an informed choice."

Well said deleteordecay, I wonder how many guests of the show are like namechanges sibling?

The viewers have the power though - don't watch it and the ratings fall, and the programme is pulled.
I know about the programme and what goes on from working in care a couple of years ago - the residents loved it for some reason, I absorbed through osmosis I think!

I worry about a society that gains entertainment from humiliating other people, we're supposed to be a 'modern' society, but it would seem we haven't moved on from the days of people paying to go and poke the mentally ill with a stick at the asylum, we just do it on TV now.

MissionItsPossible · 12/05/2017 15:04

Have to be careful what I reveal here but Delete Namechange and waterlego are correct.

I know someone who works with children who are classed as vulnerable until the age of 18 so although they are 'legally' allowed to appear on the show from 16, they can't do it without consent until they are 18 IYSWIM. The person in question had to repeatedly warn off a researcher who had approached the premises to pick the child in question up and was threatened with the police when they found out they hadn't left the property but were shouting to them through an open window conspiring to get them out the building.

Namechange I am so sorry to read your story. Your poor sibling :(

Delete is right. You enter the lions' den with the belief that they are rabbits.

Christmastree43 · 13/05/2017 14:09

He is a massive sexist/ misogynist, has a huge madonna/ whore complex, his views about women and sex are horrifying and what's even more horrifying is the thought that he is playing to an audience who also hold those views 😦

His outrage at women having sex with more than one person etc and otherwise having any life outside of being a mother who never steps outside of the home for example

The lie detector tests get me too as they are so unreliable

I admit I do watch it though if it's on, my reason for watching it is to hate watch Jeremy 😐 I often wonder if this is a reason why a lot of people watch it?
