To think this about Jeremy Kyle?

That he comes across as an abuser in an abusive relationship? (To be clear I mean his persona on his show not him as a person in real life as I don't know him). I find it very creepy and very uncomfortable when, after shouting at guests, yelling and snarling in their faces in order to break them down, then suddenly switches to 'kind' Jeremy, kneeling down beside them, looking up at them as they're crying or close to crying after he shouted at them and saying things in a soft voice like "I get you, sweetheart" or "You're not really that bad, are you?" And if he doesn't get an answer pushes it: "Look at me. You're not bad, are you?" So condescending and sick inducing. It makes my skin crawl and reminds me of an emotional bully in a controlling relationship.

God, is this horrid man still on our screens? Decided 10 years ago he was vile. His tedious expressions of "put something on the end of it', 'grow a pair', 'step up to the plate' ad nauseum. Horrid man - horrid show. Shudder.

KimJongCunt · 11/05/2017 00:10

Yes I know exactly what it says about those watching it.....

They need somebody to look down on too.

x2boys · 11/05/2017 00:20

Yeah he's a dick but people that go n there no exactly what the shows about most don't have learning disabilities they go on for their 15minute of fame he has guests back time and time again if people stoppec watching it they would cancel the show.

cantbefaffedd · 11/05/2017 00:40

Brill thread topic OP. He's a monumental fucktard and my OH hates him with a passion. I do love that his wife was supposedly having sexytime with a very fit polo player while good old Jezza was filming in the US 😁. EVEN better, they have divorced Grin . Spiteful mwah? Nah, poetic justice. Bet he ranted at his wife and kids. He is a fucking inadequate who makes his living from people who have had less life chances than him. Utter scum.

iloveruby · 11/05/2017 00:42

What I find truly heartbreaking is that people will put themselves through that just for the free night in the hotel, a trip away, because that is their only opportunity.

You only have to watch his guests try to articulate themselves to know he is exploiting some of the most vulnerable members if our society.

iloveruby · 11/05/2017 00:44

Oh and for all those who hate JK - in would thoroughly recommend watching chas & status 'let it you go'.....very accurate!

user1493759849 · 11/05/2017 00:45

@kimjongcunt Yes I know exactly what it says about those watching it.....They need somebody to look down on too.

What a load of utter shite.

MissEliza · 11/05/2017 02:21

I don't watch it. I usually automatically switch over after Lorraine but I happened to catch a bit the other day and he was saying how people have got to stop posting stuff on social media and start talking to each other. He's absolutely right.

BadLad · 11/05/2017 04:58

I think starting a thread on AIBU is, depending on the dilemma, a bit like going on the Jeremy Kyle show. More often than not it's just opening yourself up to be humiliated, called a twat, argued with etc etc about something that would be better kept private.

kiwimumof2boys · 11/05/2017 05:38

Isn't he with his kids former nanny? How classy. Not.

elkegel · 11/05/2017 05:41

Yep. Absolute Grade A dickwipe.

sonlypuppyfat · 11/05/2017 05:52

He's nothing but a ghoul

Alfieisnoisy · 11/05/2017 06:31

That's what I've heard too kiwimum.

His wife caught him out allegedly and divorced him.

I watch sometimes...and sometimes he makes me laugh with his quick quips. I am talking of sudden quips...not the standard one liners.

I quite like Steve...feel for him sometimes...he blushes from the neck upwards Grin

DH absolutely LOVES the show and always watches if he's at home. Does my head in.

ddssdd · 11/05/2017 06:38

I remember being told than he and his 'researchers' get both sides riled up the night before, and just before the show, which is why most of his guests are steaming when they walk on.

And as someone mentioned up-thread, if Graham is, indeed, a MH professional; it just seems so wrong for Jezza to accuse them of something they haven't done and then for Graham to 'sooth' the guests after being verbally battered.

And when he says to the guests that have failed the detector, 'Go on, just admit it, you did it, didn't you?', when there is a good chance they didn't, really doesn't sit right with me. And so, possibly, with a false result, the couples are less than likely to sort their shit out. And, there must also be those who did lie but pass the test..it's all wrong. He's laughing all the way to the bank Angry

Beerwench · 11/05/2017 06:41

Don't know him personally but if the on screen persona is any indication then I don't want to!
The problem though IMO is that people watch it, the ratings are obviously paying because if it didn't work then it wouldn't be on TV.
I think that's the problem, he appeals to an audience that enjoy watching others being humiliated for entertainment. The same goes for BGT and similar shows, the early rounds where some people are laughed at , ridiculed for going on stage when they don't have a talent to showcase, are cringeworthy IMO. At least though, those shows do have a purpose of producing talent that would maybe not be discovered.
JK doesn't even have that.
I don't understand why anyone would a) want to go on a TV programme to sort out their family or personal issues, knowing they're going to be treated like that I front of millions, and b) other people get entertainment from watching other people being publicly humiliated, laughed at and judged.
But they do, so I can't see him going anywhere any time soon!

BellyDancer124 · 11/05/2017 06:44

YANBU.

Remember someone threw a piece of card at him and cracked him on the head? If you haven't seen it, YouTube it.. you won't be disappointed! Grin

Sallystyle · 11/05/2017 06:47

He is a cunt.

What shocks me more is his medical programme. WTF would anyone want JK in the room while they have an intimate health exam?

I don't watch JK as it's a load of noise that hurts my head but ive seen enough in the past to think he is a complete twat.

etegrasse · 11/05/2017 06:51

I remember him ripping a poor woman apart. She'd given up her baby for adoption - or perhaps it was a forced adoption, not sure - and gone onto have another baby. The 'babies' were now adult women.

The adopted one - I should have sympathy but I didn't. The poor woman was desperately trying to explain and actually didn't do a bad job given that JK was yelling and adopted DD was whining. The majority of the ire seemed to be focused on the fact that the woman had dared go on to have another child.

FFS, surely even the thickest person can work out that having lost one child you would be desperate for another?

picklemepopcorn · 11/05/2017 06:51

I think the media creates these characters for popular telly, and it spills over into their personal life too. Jeremy Clarkson's wife left him. They lose sight of reasonable because of how they are encouraged to be for TV. It's actually quite sad if it wasn't so awful.

Sparklingbrook · 11/05/2017 07:01

People that go on the show know full well what it's going to be like. Don't apply to go on if you can't take it.

etegrasse · 11/05/2017 07:10

Sometimes guests - the people who did not apply to go on it - are pressured considerably. Some are desperate to reconcile with an estranged family member, others are just, well, not the brightest.

TheFirstMrsDV · 11/05/2017 07:14

One of the worst things he does is to regularly enable domestic violence.

How many times has he couples on in dangerously dysfunctional relationships in order to help them 'work it out'?

He will make the odd reference to the violence but it is a side issue. Even if one partner is massively emotionally abusive he will do all he can to reconcile them using those fucking lie detectors and DNA tests.
He will pay for and arrange DNA tests to 'prove' to a pathologically jealous man that his partner has not been cheating. We all know that the man will find another reason to disbelieve the woman but will be thrilled that he managed to force her to debase herself on national tv.

He puts couples in counselling when there is violence involved and that charlatan Graham colludes with him.

That programme normalise domestic violence.

It is also massively sexist. The women are castigated for not being the image of motherhood he deems perfection. He is always telling us that xyz is the 'worst thing a woman can go through' without bothering to consult any actual women.

I bet they reject anyone from the show who is capable of anything other than shouting unintelligibly back at him.

He has no game if anyone bests him. Literally none.

He should be ashamed of himself.

shrunkenhead · 11/05/2017 07:17

Do they ever do follow up ones with the car/rehab scenario? I always wonder if they stick at it, get clean and remain so. In which case that might be worthwhile as for many rehab is expensive and hard to access and this could be their only chance.
I don't watch it v often so don't know if they do updates.

TWOBANANAS · 11/05/2017 07:18

He is vile.

HoldBackTheRain · 11/05/2017 07:21

It's horrible watching some of the most vulnerable people in society being ripped apart for 'entertainment'. A few years ago I had depression and didn't leave the house. I used to put this on in the mornings, and it made me feel worse. Really don't like JK and however good at his job Graham is I'd imagine he's doing this show for the £ so I don't have a lot of time for him either.
