  1. Bedroom tax
  2. Denying disability benefit to 165,000 people
  3. Scrapping housing benefit for 18-21 year olds
  4. Benefit cap
  5. Rise in uni tuition fees
  6. Junior doctors' contracts
  7. Scrapping nurses' bursaries
  8. Snoopers' charter
  9. Social care cuts
  10. Public sector pay freeze
10. NHS "10 year diet"

There are many many more!

Corbyn wants to invest in public services- education and health by taxing the rich more. Surely you'd have to be completely ignorant and selfish to not agree with this? 4 more years of the Tories will be the end of the NHS, we'd be fucking stupid to let this happen.

  1. See clean air strategy, drug strategy, housing strategy - local government worker here who can remember alot of policy, expertise and funding coming from the centre - not anymore!
fakenamefornow · 09/05/2017 17:04

There's always people quick to say they'd pay more tax. How many of them have tried - is it actually possible to volunteer more tax? Does anyone do this in practice?

I'd like to know if this is possible, I don't think it is. Plus I think even certain benefits such as Winter Fuel Payment can't even be opted out of.

I'd like to pay more tax and I'm a low earner. I think some people are just greedy, how much money can one person possibly spend!

SusannahL · 09/05/2017 17:04

Yes I have to laugh at Labour's promise to 'save the NHS' when a lot of the problems can be laid at their door.

Firstly the huge increase in demand on the NHS is partly down to Blair's idiotic 'open doors' policy on immigration which caused a huge increase in migrants wanting to come here for, amongst other things, free healthcare.

Secondly, again the Labour party, in its wisdom decided to give GPs a large pay rise in return for shorter hours. Result? Patients frustrated at being unable to get a GP appointment pitch up at already overstretched A and E departments.

But hey, never mind, if your wonderful Labour party get it they will sort all that out won't they?!!

Radishal · 09/05/2017 17:05

It is a broad brush statement to say the civil service has imploded and I don't agree.

Elendon · 09/05/2017 17:06

Susannah Start your own thread! Reasons to vote Conservative. I'll not join but would love to read it.

TessTube · 09/05/2017 17:09

If everyone stuck to their own threads there would be no debate would there?

If people want Labour to win they are going to have to actually change people's minds seeing as we are heading for a mahoosive landslide.

Faithless · 09/05/2017 17:11
  1. Gary Barlow is a Tory
  2. Boris Johnson (again)
  3. George fucking Osbourne
  4. Michael bastard Gove
  5. The nasty little NHS killing, most unpopular man in Britian, Jeremy Twunt
Dawndonnaagain · 09/05/2017 17:11

I have as much right to comment as others Radishal.

Miniwookie · 09/05/2017 17:12

THE NHS, THE NHS, THE NHS! I can't express how strongly I feel about this. Once it's gone we won't be getting it back.

The reintroduction of grammar schools/secondary moderns.

marybastardpoppins · 09/05/2017 17:13

legal aid cuts - because in toryville only the rich deserve justice

Timeforabiscuit · 09/05/2017 17:13

Fair enough radishal , I'm just un-nervered by the silence, Maybe its organisations i dont recognise as civil service.

Radishal · 09/05/2017 17:15

Not stopping you, Dawn. Just saying I don't agree.

Read the manifestos and make an educated decision who you want to vote for be it Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem or other. OP YABVU to dictate who someone should vote for. It's a personal decision not one where you can force people to vote the way you want through propaganda and bullshit.

Timeforabiscuit · 09/05/2017 17:23

With the GPs, the whole model is wrong - are they independent businesses or are they NHS?

Timeforabiscuit · 09/05/2017 17:25

Bantanddec the op has been good enough to state the intention in the thread title, would you mind highlighting the propoganda and bullshit out of the items listed?

Bluebeedee · 09/05/2017 17:28

Bantanddec- Can't see where I've dictated anyone to do anything?

I just cannot understand why people would vote Tory when there are so many reasons not to.

Also i still don't understand people's reasons for disliking corbyn. One person said it's because he hasn't had a job outside of politics which is interesting and I admit I hadn't considered that before- doesn't change my mind about wanting to vote labour though.

OP posts:
Timeforabiscuit · 09/05/2017 17:29

Reasons people dont vote corbyn

He doesnt eat meat
Looks like a geography teacher
Doesnt want to nuke people

Yup totally see why I should vote tory Confused

Timeforabiscuit · 09/05/2017 17:31

That was of course flippant, but i believe there is one candidate who will take a reasoned view of the impact of continued austerity, and one who categorically will not.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 09/05/2017 17:33

The largely leftie MN doesn't really need convincing though, does it? It's a little bit of an echo chamber

TessTube · 09/05/2017 17:33

Blue people have loads of different reasons they don't like Corbyn.

I don't but I can get my head around people that do, surely you can do likewise some of this stuff has been discussed to actual death.

The problem is that it's not particularly easy or fruitful to have a conversation about it online, and quite a lot of people believe the line that we are all in thrall to the mainstream media.

RoseGoldProsecco · 09/05/2017 17:33

Mini Wookie - why would that be the case? If labour truly wants to "save the NHS", why couldn't they just reinstate it once they got back into power?

RoseGoldProsecco · 09/05/2017 17:35

(Speaking hypothetically - obviously if the NHS were dismantled, there would be lots of people affected in the interim; not meaning to belittle that at all. Just asking why that would have to be permanent when labour are promising to reverse so many other things (except Brexit!))

TessTube · 09/05/2017 17:39

People don't actually believe it I don't think. In every single election the NHS is going to die and Labour are going to save it and yet here we are with it still here.

I wish there was a way to remove it entirely from the political debate.

There's a pretty good scape goat on the horizon now though isn't there, the nasty bulliez from the EU made us poor and ruined our NHS.
