Why is MN so transphobic?

I really don't understand it but it makes me sad. Trans people just want to get on with their lives and are at more risk of being harmed or murdered than anyone else.

Oh no, a transwoman wants to play sports! A transwoman is being sent to a womens prisons! I mean, really?

Transwomen are women to me imo. I wouldn't treat them any diffently to any of my other female friends.

They're not women, our identities are not costumes for men to don so they can get a thrill by entering our spaces. Our right to be safe from predatory men (who will use any excuse to get into women's changing rooms or bathrooms) trumps the wants of some dude who 'feels like a woman today'.

There aren't transphobic comments, there is however healthy discussion and debate around how some laws and other things are changing to accommodate trans people

what's scary is lots of people refuse to see the difference between transphobic scum and someone who has a slightly different opinion to them

I agree OP. There are always at least several anti-trans threads in active at one time. A lot of MNers deny being transphobic, but who would ever admit to it?

D'you think? How do you know who of us might share a prison cell with a penis owning sex offender? Or attend a refuge or rape crisis centre and have to share or be examined by someone with a penis? Or lose our jobs because we point out that the above scenarios are not ok?
It really does affect us.

They are women inside. They are women deep down and have always been but for some reason biology got it wrong and they were born with a male sexual resproductive system instead.

There is a lot more to gender than simply XY and XX and I certainly don't believe that you are born a gender and that's you for life!

it's a tiny, embarrassing echo chamber. if you disagree you hate women, apparently. fortunately it seems to be a vocal minority who gleefully gee each other up with half-arsed scare stories and then make out that they have only actually been worried about women's darts teams or book clubs this whole time.

and yes, i report. it pops up again straight away though, like the toadstools in Chorlton and the Wheelies. grim.

If a trans woman competes in sports in means women can no longer win in sport.
If violent male criminals are put in women's prisons it means women are are risk from someone who has significantly more strength than them let alone risk of rape and impregnation.
You say no ones impacted? Sports women and female prisoners are.
