I stood in the entrance of M&S for 5 minutes this morning just trying to imagine anyone who this would suit.
It's polyester as well so you couldn't even say it would be good in a heatwave.

Sorry - I should have said - the purple monstrosity is from Simply Be.

RiseandGrind · 02/05/2017 15:20

Christ that's hideous.

Nousernameforme my mum had a housecoat like that in the 70s Grin

I reckon they should do head office tours, so you can actually go in and have a look at all the staff in their loud polyester attire

THIS

I'd LOVE to see who actually designs and gives the go ahead to produce this pile of shit. Every. Single. Year. Without. Fail.

My local M&S flagship retail destination bullshit is like tumbleweed city and smells of wee.

I went to the Trafford Centre at the weekend. It was full of ;people but not many carrying bags and nobody buying anything in the womens' clothes shops bar Topshop and Zara.

I think retail clothing sales figures will be awful this year and the bosses will, once again, be scratching their heads as to why.

Does anyone know of anyone 'high up' in fashion who orders this shit? You never see them do you or if you do, they're out and about in jeans and a T-shirt (not their own hideous creations.

morningconstitutional2017 · 02/05/2017 15:21

It's awful and reminds me a little of the home-made dresses we wore in the mid-60s (wide sleeves). Dear me.

M&S often have good separates but consistently get it so wrong in the dress department.

JaneEyre70 · 02/05/2017 15:23

Holy crap do you think anyone has actually bought one Shock

Copper1122 · 02/05/2017 15:29

I am trying to put my finger on the specific shade of pink, not quite Pepto-Bismol or highlighter pink... something in between. Maybe it is just indescribable.

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 02/05/2017 15:30

I like it Blush

I'm very small though so it would look like a Maxi Dress on me. A pink Maxi Dress with bell sleeves and a ribbon on the back - what's not to like?! Grin

Seriously though, I would totally buy that and probably hem it to just above knee length (and take the seams in a bit to make it less sack like).

I think it would look lovely! Mind you, it's the exact same colour as my hair so I'm not exactly a beacon of good taste and style Wink

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 02/05/2017 15:31

I think it would look good with a big straw hat too.

You may all jeer and throw tomatoes at me now Smile

YrHenGi · 02/05/2017 15:33

I saw that too and was similarly struck motionless in the middle of Oxford Street. For variation, my first thought was, oh, the sweatmarks.

The tragic thing is the poor model on the website in her uncomfy black sandals, trying to project 'fun' and 'lightheartedness' and 'carefree' while knowing deep down that her friends will be using this photo from now on, to indicate that it's her ringing.

WorraLiberty · 02/05/2017 15:37

I keep thinking of Yootha Joyce from George and Mildred.

She definitely would have worn that Grin

NoraCharlesMartiniGlass · 02/05/2017 15:38

I think this is worse tbh.

And it's also the best part of 200 quid.

FluffyBathTowel · 02/05/2017 15:39

I quite liked it in the first photo but then I saw it on the model and it looks like a shapeless sack. The reviews are interesting. Would love to be able to tell one of the reviewers not to wear a vest under it like she is planning on doing

BusterGonad · 02/05/2017 15:40

I really love a fluted/flared sleeve. I actually think those dresses are really cute!

WhatchaMaCalllit · 02/05/2017 15:41

PMSL Worra - now you're really giving away your age :)

I know exactly who you mean (so I must be giving away my age too)

Goingtobeawesome · 02/05/2017 15:42

The colour is nice. Everything else, no thanks.

IJustLostTheGame · 02/05/2017 15:43

I like the uterique dress
Blush

dingit · 02/05/2017 15:43

I knew it would be M&S before I opened the thread. It looks like a rubber glove/mittenGrin

Rachel0Greep · 02/05/2017 15:47

This yellow number leaped at me since I clicked the link in the OP...
I'm going to be haunted all day now by various M&S offerings.
Love the pic of Margo ... 'Do something Jerry!'

Can I have a prize for the worst dress seen so far this spring
DJBaggySmalls · 02/05/2017 15:47

Fuck me that is awful. I love this thread but in a bad way and for the wrong reasons.
Cantusethatname I hereby award you with the prize for making me gasp out loud Star

Idoidoidoidoido · 02/05/2017 15:47

I think we should all go in, try it on and then post pics on this thread, maybe M&S might see it and start making some normal clothes for us to buy

That would be hilarious.

AlpacaPicnic · 02/05/2017 15:49

I can't believe nobody has linked THIS yet.

You can look like an actual sack of shit...

BusterGonad · 02/05/2017 15:50

Hang on, just flicked through the pics with the model wearing it, she needs to size down, but it's got a certain appeal about it, it's pretty on trend for M&S tbh.

TheWhiteRoseOfYork · 02/05/2017 15:51

The Farce That blue & white checked dress has probably been snapped up by primary school girls as its the summer term....

Papergirl1968 · 02/05/2017 15:53

Looks like a crinolene monstrosity from the 70s.
I was in M&S recently looking for a blouse for my 84-year-old mom. Just a plain coloured, non iron, button down the front, short sleeved blouse. They used to have loads of choice in the Classic section. But now not a single one...

Nousernameforme · 02/05/2017 15:53

Oh that is good it's about the same shade as the one they use for fag packets

category12 · 02/05/2017 15:57

That's fugly. If it looks that awful on a model, fuck knows what it would like on the majority of people.
