AIBU here? I have just found out that my husband and his ex-partner took their child to the doctors together!! Nothing serious, just a minor skin ailment!! AIBU to be so f'ing annoyed that he never told me and I found out by mistake?

OP posts:

YABU. I mean it's odd it didn't come up in conversation but a father and mother taking their child to the doctor is hardly headline news.

PuntasticUsername · 01/05/2017 15:29

In itself it seems like a fairly normal thing to do, unless you're about to drip-feed a massive back story that puts it in a different light?

skyzumarubble · 01/05/2017 15:29

Think you might be over reacting just a bit.

Gallavich · 01/05/2017 15:29

Their child? Or yours? Your OP makes no sense

TheFaerieQueene · 01/05/2017 15:29

Perhaps he was worried about your response, so decided not to tell you.

RusholmeRuffian · 01/05/2017 15:29

It is a bit weird that it wasn't mentioned but YABU to be "livid".

harderandharder2breathe · 01/05/2017 15:29

You are massively overreacting.

I imagine he guessed how you'd react which is why he never told you.

Why do you have a problem with him parenting his child? If that's such an issue for you, you shouldn't have married a man with a child.

Only1scoop · 01/05/2017 15:29

Their DC or yours?

sooperdooper · 01/05/2017 15:30

Yabu, parents took child to the doctors - and??

Princecharlesfirstwife · 01/05/2017 15:30

Livid is stretching it I would have thought. At best mildly irritated but I'm not sure I could even create even that level of emotion unless of course you are going to come back with an enormous back story

rainbowsandglitterandshit · 01/05/2017 15:31

I often go to drs appts with my son and his dad (my ex). I sometimes forget to mention it but OH certainly wouldn't be 'livid' about it

Out2pasture · 01/05/2017 15:32

YABU, they 100% should be doing things with THEIR child together.

Crazyhair12 · 01/05/2017 15:34

Wait a minute, I never mentioned in my post that I had an issue with him going to the appointment, I have an issue with not being told!! They do all the parently things together, this is never a issue. I have a very good relationship with his ex, what I am perplexed at is not being told (maybe livid is too strong a word.

OP posts:
Only1scoop · 01/05/2017 15:35

Are you ok? Is there more to this?
'Patently' things would be because they are parents?
Do you over react often? Is that why he didn't want to tell you? Confused

WorraLiberty · 01/05/2017 15:36

Was he late home for dinner or did it mean you missed an appointment or something?

I'm not sure why you needed to be told?

PurpleDaisies · 01/05/2017 15:36

Do you mean your child? I'm confused.

Emmageddon · 01/05/2017 15:36

Is it a typo? Did you mean he and his partner took your child to the doctor, and didn't tell you? I would have wanted to be told, definitely, even if it was something trivial.

PurpleDaisies · 01/05/2017 15:37

Oh, I've got that it's their child and you're feeling jealous.

I think you're really overreacting here.

harderandharder2breathe · 01/05/2017 15:37

So he either forgot or knew you'd overreact so didn't want to poke the Beast, or he's having a secret affair with his ex and their idea of a hot date is taking their child to the doctor....

HermioneJeanGranger · 01/05/2017 15:38

I don't get why you're so angry?

They took their kid to the doctor...what's the problem? Confused

sooperdooper · 01/05/2017 15:38

I'm guessing he just forgot to tell you because it's just a normal everyday thing to do, do you always micromanage everything he does? You're massively overreacting

MakeUpMyRoom · 01/05/2017 15:38

Parents tend to do parenty things together.

Livid is usually too strong a word when used on MN so don't worry about that Smile

I think any kind of reaction is too much.

Gallavich · 01/05/2017 15:39

Get over yourself for goodness sake

Louiselouie0890 · 01/05/2017 15:39

Yabu why should he HAVE to tell you

ImperialBlether · 01/05/2017 15:39

You sound a bit unhinged, frankly. Why are you getting yourself in such a state? Do you like to pretend there's no past between them? They are still a family with their child.
