To think it's rude to asking how much it costs?

I've had cosmetic surgery and it's something very noticeable. I'm very open with it but I'm sick of the first question being - how much did it cost??

Aibu? It's none of anyone's business

I'm going to guess it's some kind of facelift - £20,000.

Or a hair transplant.

WinBigly · 01/05/2017 22:45

Bingo wings?

Hauntedbytheghostofyou · 01/05/2017 22:49

Thanks Casmama and Blunt.

I only mentioned it was obvious as I thought it was relevant to my OP. If I'd had something done that no one would see then I'd have to actually bring it up in conversation for someone to ask me about it.

I think that makes a huge difference to whether I am or I'm not being unreasonable.

I never once said I would pm everyone. If someone wanted to know and messaged me then I would tell them.

I'm genuinely baffled by the hostility I've received. I didn't start a thread saying AIU for having cosmetic surgery ... but haha I'm not telling what it is.

I've not shown off on this thread or in real life. I had surgery as a gift to myself for the years of bullying and crippling self consciousness that I've let ruin a huge chunk of my life.

How boring...sorry but if it's that outing, don't post about it.

LilacSpatula · 01/05/2017 22:57

If you met any of us in real life you'd clearly tell us what you've had done. To not do so on here is just attention seeking silliness. And you are moaning about people who are commenting on your surgery knowing what you've had done. How is anyone meant to comment when we have no idea? What an utter waste of time.

TheweewitchRoz · 01/05/2017 22:58

Op, I don't understand the hostility towards you either (but I do understand the curiosity as I'm curious too Grin) but whatever it is, I'm glad you're happy with the results.

Studyinghell · 01/05/2017 23:00

I 2nd telling them you slept with the surgeon and got it for free 😂

alonsypot · 01/05/2017 23:00

The heck is wrong with some people? The op isn't an amusement show! Hmm

RJnomore1 · 01/05/2017 23:03

This is a really really weird thread!

Hauntedbytheghostofyou · 01/05/2017 23:04

I 2nd telling them you slept with the surgeon and got it for free

I love this. Next time I get asked I'll say that.

Reminds me of the time my stuffy grandma asked me if I had a boyfriend yet (argh!!) and I responded that no I didn't as I preferred to sleep around. Her face was priceless Grin

VERY weird thread.

'I bought a thing and people are saying the thing I bought is overpriced/are asking how much it cost and I'm really angry but I'm not going to tell you what the thing was or how much it was.'

Oooooookaaaaaaay!

LilacSpatula · 01/05/2017 23:06

What a waste of life...

LilacSpatula · 01/05/2017 23:07

Not your life OP - I'm not a total bellend but a waste of everyone's time on here...

2017SoFarSoGood · 01/05/2017 23:24

I spent $30k on my unicorn's horn teeth and it was the best money ever spent. Not a single human outside of my immediate family ever mentioned the difference, and only two of them asked how much. Both almost fainted when told.

Thing about this is whatever it is worth to YOU, is what it is worth. Nobody else. It totally changed how I see myself, not how they see me.

It is nobody's business but your own (and ours of course, now that you've shared) Grin

1horatio · 01/05/2017 23:28

Actally, if you are very open about it? Yes, YABU.

What are they supposed to say? "Yes, it looks so much better now."

I have nothing against cosmetic surgery. I may have it when we're done having children... (currently pregnant with a 2nd). But yes, if I was talking about it? WHy wouldn't people ask questions?

TheStoic · 02/05/2017 01:19

If I'd had something done that no one would see then I'd have to actually bring it up in conversation for someone to ask me about it.

So kind of like what you've done here.

MaitlandGirl · 02/05/2017 02:18

When we bought our puppy (which was a stupid amount of money when you consider $/kg!) we had loads of people asking how much we spent. He's a very rare breed in this area and not that common in the country - most people round here have working breeds that you buy for about $100.

I only told close family how much he was and everyone else got told "less than I expected but more than I wanted to spend".

I hope you're happy with the procedure and that your recovery went well.

sailawaywithme · 02/05/2017 02:40

I had a tummy tuck in January and the results have been dramatic...first question I get is "Have you lost weight?" When I tell them of the surgery, without failure the first question is "How much was it?" I really think it's more that people think "I wonder if I could do it too" rather than anything else..unless I'm just incredibly vain of course and think I look more amazing than I do!

salsmum · 02/05/2017 06:29

I know 2 people who have had eye surgery privately the first thing I ask is the cost because I'm as blind as a bat I keep losing my glasses I'm interested Grin

ddssdd · 02/05/2017 06:29

It's very sad about the years of bullying, op.

I don't care what it is but if it's put you in a happier, more confident place, then good for you Smile

Ariawyn · 02/05/2017 07:15

I only mentioned it was obvious as I thought it was relevant to my OP. If I'd had something done that no one would see then I'd have to actually bring it up in conversation for someone to ask me about it.

So you put I had a 'nose job' and people asked how much it was... simple

It's the cloak and dagger mysterious /pm me if you want to know / attn seeking / vague booking (whether intentional or not ) that people don't like.

picklemepopcorn · 02/05/2017 07:19

I think we all wonder if the unusual things other people do are possible for us. If someone buys their very own ice cream van, or a boat, we can look on line and get an idea how much. Plastic surgery still wondering what not so much.

You've had a hard time on here, OP, sorry!

Bluntness100 · 02/05/2017 07:25

I'm not sure why people are attacking either. She's clearly said if you want to know, pm me. It's not hard to pm her. She doesn't want to state on the thread as it could be outing. It's unreasonable to expect her to go through pages and pages pming everyone. If she was attention seeking she'd state what it was publicly and she'd get a lot more responses. 😂

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/05/2017 07:39

haunted I have no idea why you are being attacked
Love your response to your grandma though Grin

Realjournal123 · 02/05/2017 17:31

Their reaction stems from you. You could just say 'I don't know' and that'll stop further questioning.
